  1. I have a Brand New Install on a new SSD in a New Gaming Rig (Ryzen) and jumped into a MP Server today where there was no one else online. Today is the First Time Flying on the new rig. I flew (Mustang in Korean War Server) for about 10 minutes and then "poof" ... I was kicked back to the Server List and received the "Timed Out" Error Message. Even flying SP I exited a mission only to find the same Error Message again. What is going on ?
  2. I'm glad you posted that information. I am on the tail end of a new complete re-install of everything (new gaming rig) and found my Pilot Logbook to be blank. Knowing what file to look for (on my old HDD's) helped me recover my logbook stats. So thanks for that.
  3. I would love to see this feature implemented in DCS GUI. It makes sense, especially when switching between TiR and VR which generally require different video settings. Having to manually reset things the way you like each time is a PITA. Being able to save 3 or 4 Custom Settings would be great. It would also allow for experimentation of different setting combinations ... quickly and easily. Having to install Mods and/or workarounds is not the way to go. Especially when it means having to learn yet another program in order to do that which should be so easy, makes no sense to me. DCS please implement the ability to save Custom Video Settings ASAP.
  4. I use the same Lever for Mustang Brakes (I also have toe brakes on my pedals) because it "should" depress both brakes evenly. However, it seems to only activate one side of brakes or More on one side than the other. Especially after the first press of the brake lever. I have checked and doubled checked in VKB's software and DCS Controls Options. Everything seems to be working properly with the stick. It just doesn't seem to work correctly in the Mustang (and possibly other Modules).
  5. First of all please note: I do not speak on behalf of VARS. The following is my Opinions Only. Grinnelli is the man who brought it altogether for us. So he's the man to contact for official information. You can generally catch him on Discord during the day (or at the very least send him a PM there). And of course Shahdoh usually knows what's going on or can answer questions relating to the Mustang and Racing better than most people. Since the 2018 Series just ended only a couple weeks ago, there won't be any specific practice sessions "that I am currently aware of". Generally speaking, most of us practiced on our own time either Online in VARS Server or offline if you have the offline versions of the race course (mission files). There were many times when several of us would be in the server at the same time during which we could practice together (usually mayhem on the course ... but good for a laugh at the very least). That said, I usually have my best luck finding people in the VARS Discord between 10am and 4pm Eastern (Toronto) time. I'm certainly willing to fly during the day hours however, I have been offline most of this week. But if you'd like to PM me here or in Discord with a Day/Time you want to hook up, I'll gladly do what I can to do some racing on the 2018 courses with you.
  6. Last week there was an Update to 2.5 Open Beta that was intended to provide pre-set Hotas Configs for New DCS Users. As we all know, that didn't work well for current users as it over-wrote and mucked up our current configurations. And as we also know, there was a Hotfix Update on Tuesday Oct. 16th that was supposed to correct the previous update's issues. While that seems to have been the case at least for the TF-51 Mustang, I am now having issues in the P-51 Mustang. First of all, I discovered that most of the configuration issues seemed to remain from the previous update, but it also eliminated my RPM (throttle lever) altogether. I found that and fixed it. Now my current issues is with regards to the Weapon Release which I have set to a Secondary Trigger on my VKB MCG Pro Grip. I was trying to carry Rockets and Smoke. As soon as I configured the Cockpit Switches to operate the SMOKE, Smoke was ON CONTINUOUS .."UNLESS" I pressed the Trigger rather than when I pressed the Trigger (as it was previously AND the way it should be). Even when you turn the Smoke Switches OFF, the smoke continues. The ONLY way to turn the smoke OFF is to set the switches to Bomb Config (switches Down) but then of course we have no control over the smoke. PS>I should note that when the cockpit is configured to fire Rockets, they fire as they should with the Trigger Press (and depending on the setup re: Auto/Single etc). The Trigger issue for the Smoke (and maybe bombs too ?) is the only issue I am currently aware of. DCS/ED >> Please correct this ASAP.
  7. I apologize for any confusion I have created. Obviously, I neglected to "read ALL the words" ! I missed the fact that you said TM WH "grip" and MGC. My Bad.
  8. I'm certainly no expert on the topic, but Thrustmaster Warthog and VKB MGC (Modern Combat Grip) are made by two separate manufacturers. As such, they each have their own software. VKB's software can be obtained via their website https://vkbcontrollers.com/ and the same for Th WH https://support.thrustmaster.com/en/product/hotaswarthogflightstick-en/ I hope this helps.
  9. Edited you Logbook ?!! I didn't know you could do that. Let alone edit it to skip a mission. I'll have to take a look at that. Thanks for the idea.
  10. I haven't flown this Campaign since I first posted. I never could manage this mission (a bit unrealistic IMO). So I have no idea what if anything has improved or broken since then.
  11. That's a pretty good deal. The price is right and it's available in US and Canada (and maybe elsewhere).
  12. I might be interested in something like that myself. I don't know that I need it quite that long but I'm interested to know if there are longer cables and if so what are their lengths (if standard lengths are available versus custom).
  13. Thanks again shagrat. Deactivating effects to save performance makes sense. Obviously trees do stop bullets etc but having it so we can shoot through them and tanks etc not being able to see through them is all that really matters IMO. I like that they are solid objects now though. The days of people including me flying low in the forests to avoid detection are over.
  14. There is no need to PM you. I know who you are. Big Deal. I know you have helped me with a couple things in the past and I expressed my gratitude then. I have already admitted my misunderstanding of the topic and beyond that, I don't owe you anything. Nor could I care less if my griping comes across as a temper tantrum to you. The money I have spent has earned me the right to complain when I feel it's due. It's not like there hasn't been any serious issues to gripe about. I don't feel the need to justify myself to you or anyone else. However, 112th_Rossi, I do apologize to you for my misunderstanding causing reactions that have seemingly tainted your thread. That wasn't my intention. I can't speak for anyone else. shagrat I appreciate everything you are looking into. I have to admit, I have never really paid much attention to any affects with the trees but I'm probably going to pay more attention to them now. Thanks.
  15. Thanks I appreciate that. I understand that there are some effects that are better implemented with the ME ... I just don't know what they are. But I'll figure out some day. In the meantime, I'll have to try using more and/or bigger ordinance than I've been using. I know I'm definitely hitting targets but several have burned and then the flames go out (which is not unrealistic). I know if a building is going to fall, it is likely to do it within a minute or two. Anything after than and the flame is going out and I'd have to start over. I guess if it's not rubble within that minute or two I'd best toss another bomb or rocket at it and see what happens. But there are some buildings that "appear" indestructible. I have always thought this to be the case with downtown LV but never understood why (if that were the case). Thanks again shagrat.
  16. Yes I did misunderstand ... thinking that this was something new. It's not like things don't get changed once in a while !! So, Pardon me for misunderstanding. But it doesn't mean you have to be jackass in your reply though. A simple explanation like that which you started with would have been sufficient. But that's okay. I find there are many people with snarky comments in this forum. I have come to expect it (not necessary threads that I reply to). It's completely unnecessary to belittle people you know nothing about. Especially, in a so-called Help Forum. PS> Maybe there is a thread in here that discusses it, but I have never understood why we can't smash downtown LV and other places.
  17. Now why wouldn't it simply be the case that when we bomb a runway that it is deemed damaged without having to script it in ME ? It seems ridiculous to me. It's bad enough that many buildings are indestructible IMO. The fact that we have to script damage to have a somewhat realistic effect anywhere, mind-boggles me. But thanks for the information. It's obviously valuable but again, this shouldn't have to be necessary IMO.
  18. Art-J's instructions got me through this Tutorial yesterday. The Tutorial has all sorts of issues as far as I'm concerned. I had to use my Keyboard to get through much of it. The secret to the Pitch control test is to Push and HOLD and then Pull and HOLD for a few seconds. Anyway, I'm through it. Won't do it twice.
  19. So you are saying that after you move your stick full forward and full backward the Tutorial continues ? Because I did that 3 separate times now and nothing happens. The message remains in the upper right corner (the instructions) and I can move the stick, forward, backward, again and again. Forward and Hold. Backward and Hold. Left, Right, All Around. Still nothing happens. The control surfaces all move as they should but the Tutorial does not continue for me. I'll try Another Repair and see what happens but I'm am very confident that it is Not Me.
  20. So I have had the Spitfire since it was released but today is the first time I have sat in it, hoping most of the bugs would have been resolved by now. So I started with the Startup Procedures Tutorial. When I get to the part that directs you to "push the control stick fully forward and fully aft" while checking the control surfaces, the Tutorial does not progress from that point. My Stick does in fact move the control surfaces (full deflection up/down) but nothing I do allows the Tutorial to progress. I guess I'll have to Park the Spitfire for a bit longer. OH and BTW - The Canopy Open/Close controls seem to be Backwards !
  21. No .. that one was a pain to get the way I wanted (still have instructions to get it back .. and eliminate the 2nd hat function i.e. after press and hold). It's the Thumb Hat (left side where thumb rests) that seems to be all wonky. NOTE: Sorry for seemingly taking over this thread. I just have to take dog out (15 mins) then I'll be back for the duration of the day.
  22. No Prob. Thanks for the reply. I still have my play-by-play instructions to get the Trim Hat working the way it did (regardless of my saved profile) but the Thumb Hat seems to be really mucked up. I definitely need help with it. It is supposed to be buttons 10 thru 13 and 9 for press but I can't seem to get that to work worth a dang.
  23. Okay.. Sorry. ... Disregard MOST of my last message. I didn't have it on the correct window to see that things were moving as they should. So I have managed to calibrate and stop calibrating and Loaded my previous settings ... But that doesn't seem to have taken because everything I did to get my Trim hat working seems to be lost. I still need 1 on 1 assistance if anyone has the time and patience. I can get just about everything working the way I want Except for the Trim Hat and the Thumb Hat ... which seems to be really messed up from when I first got it. That is, it doesn't register each position. It doesn't register the Press at all and some positions show 2 lights lit in the Config software ???!!
  24. I am really new to the VKB Gunfighter Mk. II - Modern Combat Grip PRO and it's associated software. I had to have step-by-step help just to get the Trim Hat to work the way I want and now of course that is all messed up because I Flashed my Black Box (for my first time ... it was already done with the previous version when I obtained the stick). I have tried following the Calibration Instructions step-by-step but I don't see ANYTHING happening in the Cfg software. Should I see some acknowledgement that I am moving the stick/hats etc while I am moving them ? Note: I did hit the Start Calibrate button before doing anything. As well .. and before starting to Calibrate, I selected my stick from the Window at the top (it is the only thing listed there ... but it is selected/highlighted). I don't see Anything happening in the software whilst moving everything through its range of motion. Please Help .. asap. PS> IF anyone who is Really Familiar with this stick and software is willing to connect with me via VoiceWare (Teamspeak or Discord or Skype), that would be extremely helpful to me. I am very proficient with computers ... but totally inept at working with this stick's configuration software. If someone is willing to connect with me, I am in Ontario (Toronto Time) and can connect any time that suits you .... soon please ! Just PM me in advance so I have time to receive the message and not leave you waiting. Please Provide your Voiceware of Choice and a Channel and/or your Connection Information for me to connect with you AND a Time of Day. Thanks in Advance for Any Assistance.
