[REPORTED] Big gaping hole in Nevada desert

Are you sure that it's not a Nuclear Test Site or Bomb Crater ? -
Virtual Air Racing Series 2018 Season
SnowTiger replied to GrinnelliDesigns's topic in Community News
I agree. It was all extremely well prepared, promoted and presented. And it was a great time, even though I did swamp twice. For those that haven't taken the opportunity to view the Replay on Twitch, I recommend it. It's entertaining and you can learn things about your flight that you may not have understood inside the cockpit. It didn't work like that for me, but it was fun to watch it without the nerves giving me a hard time. Thanks again for all the efforts Grinelli and thanks for all your help Shahdoh. See you at the next race. -
I am certainly not the one to tutor anyone on mission scripting but I have created a couple simple missions. What you need to take a look at in the DCS World Manual is "Triggers". In your case, you create the WP's and then create Triggers with Actions at the WP's or along the Paths to WP's. The size or area of Triggers can be set (in case a pilot is not flying directly along a Path). The AI stuff I haven't dealt with. And messages is a whole new ball game if you wish to have Voices. However, Triggers can be used for Text Message that show on the screen at specific locations and/ OR Times. Hope this helps.

Black Shark + Black Shark 2 Update in DCS World 2.5?
SnowTiger replied to Grizzly Vzla's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I wish they'd have given me BS 2 Full for free too. I never had the gall to request it. But then I opted to purchase the Full version of BS 2 on my own because I was tired of having to install BS1 and then BS2 Upgrade. BS2 Full was on sale so I bought it and deactivated the earlier 2 versions. I'd welcome a rebate ! But I actually don't care. It was worth the few extra dollars when I did it. -
Cool. That's good to know. I guess it has been a while since I've been flying.

The problem stems from a completely new Terrain with forests in more locations and larger forests (things that hide objects that were once in the open). As far as I know, the entire Campaign has to be completely reworked because of the different terrain, textures, changes to the ME etc etc between DCS World 1.5 and 2.whatever.

Engine Failure during normal flight
SnowTiger replied to Irishlad200000's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
IF you have your Radiator on AUTO, switch to Manual and open them Wide Open. See if this helps prevent your issue. If so, then engine temperature management is your problem, not DCS. If this turns to to be the problem, then minimal instruction will have you avoiding seized engines completely. -
Virtual Air Racing Series 2018 Season
SnowTiger replied to GrinnelliDesigns's topic in Community News
Will we receive a PM indicating that we have been accepted to the race ? I signed up a couple weeks ago and submitted my Skin/Livery link but haven't heard anything back. I was thinking I might get an Acceptance Message or something ? I might have a different skin to use but that which I submitted will do. PS> G'day Shahdoh ... Long time no see. Good to see you again. -
I'm grateful for all the time and effort you have already put into restoring this epic campaign (which really set a standard for good campaign design when it came out). I have tried a few of the early missions a few years ago. Unfortunately, it had already been wrecked from updates (back in 1.2). By the time I got to it, it was FREE. But I could see how detailed and professionally it was created. When working, it was well worth the original price. I haven't flown the Ka-50 in a long time, but I will undoubtedly jump back in whenever this campaign has been restored. I'm confident that it will be well worth the wait. So take your time and do it as best you can. I will gladly PAY $$ for it. Thanks for all you are doing. We know it's no small task.

Want to Sit Closer to Instruments Panel in Cockpit
SnowTiger replied to DieHard's topic in DCS: UH-1H
This "might be" what you are looking for https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1587429#post1587429 However, I recommend that you simply Adjust/Customize the Default Snap View for each aircraft and seat position (when it works ... it is currently working correctly). Here is a link to those instructions >> https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2368055&postcount=14 I think you will find the latter solution MUCH better than using any MOD or from playing around with .lua files. -
Today is the first time I have turned DCS On in 5 weeks. There has been a couple updates since the last time I flew anything. However, even prior to those recent updates, I noticed an issue in the "L" Model of Gazelle in which my Gun Sticks or Continuously Fires even after letting go of the Trigger. On the Center Console (just below the front dash), there is a little Red Light that comes on when you Press the Trigger. The Light goes OFF when you let go of the Trigger. This does correspond with what I am doing. But it continues to shoot until I'm either Out of Ammo OR after I hit my trigger MANY times (in frustration). The Red Light is working correctly so I have no reason to believe it has anything to do with my Hotas (X-55 Rhino) and I do NOT have any issues with my trigger button in any other Mod/Aircraft so far (Includes the Huey; the F-5E3 and the other 2 models of Gazelle). It is only in the "L" Model. Anyone else noticing this issue ? Is Polychop aware of this issue ? OR is it only me ?
-
My profile is much like M1Combat's. Except I never use AUTO. I have both radiators set to my hotas for complete manual control. I VERY rarely blow an engine and often outrun the enemy (when I run).
-
First understand that I am NOT good at using the ME. However, you "may" run into problems with the Triggers etc IF any of them refer to "Units of Type" OR something like that which refers to something other than what you have changed. For example, if you change from a Russian aircraft to a USA aircraft and any of the triggers refer to Blue as being enemy, you might have issues. I'll leave my premise at that because I truly have no idea. But you may want to take a look at the Triggers etc to make sure they are Generic and not aircraft specific or the like. Just a thought !
-
This blows. Especially for people like me who Don't have better things to do with our time. I haven't been able to fly for 2 weeks now. On the other hand, I'd rather have Update Patches that actually fix more than they break, so I can and will wait as long as it takes.
-
After wasting more of my valuable time testing my Default View issues, I have discovered that it is NOT Gazelle specific. I have the same issue with the Huey as well. The issues are the same in both the Caucus Map and NTTR. I haven't bothered testing any other aircraft because I'm pretty sure I already know the answer.
-
BTW - Unfortunately it appears that when MP missions are saved, they are saved with the mission designer's view settings (or defaultview.lua or whatever) ? This makes NO SENSE to me at all. My hard drives are capable of saving and holding a ton of information. There is no need for each of us to be forced to use someone else's view settings every time we jump into a server. DCS should be accessing OUR default view settings just like it does with OUR custom Hotas settings. That is .... when "that" works !
-
I just did a test in both NTTR and Caucus maps with both the Gazelle and Huey. Not only can I not save my Default view from one flight to the next, but I cannot save the Pilot/Co-Pilot Default views independently. Even more annoying is the fact that my Hotas Profiles are Complete Screwed up. I have had them saved onto a separate HD since 2009. I save each profile in their respective Aircraft/Mod folders. I have imported them from there (where they can't be affected by DCS Updates) since then without issue. Now when I import them, they are completely warped. That is to say, they are NOT the way I programmed my Hotas buttons etc. Some things are correct, many things are not. Furthermore, in the Huey even after completely redoing and re-saving my Hotas Profile, my Zoom In/Out (which I have programmed to a Hat) doesn't work At All ! So once again, a DCS Update has made my DCS UNPLAYABLE. Anymore I find that it's just a complete waste of my time starting DCS up unless I feel the masochistic need to be aggravated.

Can't Save Custom Default Views I posted this issue in the DCS 2.5 OB Release Bugs thread and have received no replies. Maybe it's better addressed here. But rather than completely rewriting my post, I attach the following URL. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=202980 I'm curious if anyone else is experiencing this same issue since last week's DCS Update ?
-
Am I the only one having this issue ? It's hard to enjoy flying when one has to repeatedly customize the Default View with every flight. Should I have posted this in the Polychop SA342 Bug Reports forum thread ? This may well be a Gazelle specific problem (I don't know because I haven't been flying anything else). But I figured I'd post it in this forum thread because I figured it was specific to DCS Updates and not the Gazelle.
-
Well that's good to know. I thought it only cycled through a couple other coordinate types. Thanks
-
Since the most recent update (Feb 15th ?) I am unable to save Custom Default Views in the Gazelle. I have to reset or recustomize the default view EVERY time I get into a new cockpit. Furthermore, it now appears that the Co-Pilot/Weapons Officer position and that of the Pilot are linked so that when you try to customize one view, it affects the other (in other words, you can set ONE default view only which is used for both seat positions). This is not the way it was before and it sucks. But it sucks even worse to have to recustomize the default view every single time. It's time consuming and super freaking annoying. Please resolve this Soon.
-
Absolutely right. It can be a nuisance especially when you are in a hurry to have to do mathematical calculations just to Convert Coordinates to a usable format for the Gazelle. Of course, "IF" there was a Calculator in F10 that would be one thing. But there isn't. And it's simply a pain in a hoop to have to calculate to convert. It's not really conducive to safe flight either (because often times coordinates have to be input "on-the-fly").

There is no current F-4E Mod that I'm aware of ... by Belsimtek or anyone else. Maybe they are producing one but none that are currently available. That said, if an F-4E is in the mission, it is an AI only.
-
I hate to have to ask, but can you tell me HOW to add this file to the gazelle textures.zip file AND WHERE I can even find said file ? My DCS is currently Uninstalled. I will reinstall it at some point and this will be one of the things I will want to do immediately when I do reinstall it. Thanks in Advance.

I originally thought this was only on the main Side Windows, but I have since noticed that it is also affecting the Upper Side Windows (same scratchy texture but Tiled much more tightly) AND I also discovered it is also visible on the Front Windscreen (also tiled tightly). However, it is hard to notice on the front windshield whereas it's impossible to miss on either of the side windows. It is extremely annoying AND it has been in existence for several MONTHS now ! Polychop ... Please FIX this soon.
