  1. I shared much of your frustration in the beginning. I still share your frustration over the wing stalls but I have come to realize that it is "likely" 100% Pilot Error (although I'm still having a hard time swallowing that !!). Unfortunately, you have come in at a time when one of the BEST WWII Servers has been offline for a while, while we wait for the Normandy Map to be out of Alpha (or whatever state it's in ... it's early) and for the dust to settle with regards to Mission Creation and Updates which cause a ton of repetitive work and repairs to missions. Said Server was/is the "Dogs of War" server (and flight team I still consider myself a member of ... waiting patiently for things to restart ... soon I hope). In the meantime, there are plenty of online WWII servers where you can get lots of practice with and against live pilots as well as AI. I recommend you jump into any you can and don't be afraid to ask for tips (eg: using TeamSpeak or whatever that server or those pilots are using. I think TS is the most popular). I'd be happy to help you with getting over most of the humps in the Mustang if you like (PM me if you wish to discuss this further). I certainly know of a few Excellent Mustang Pilots (WAY better than me) that would surely help you out if I can hook up with them .. it has been a while but they are still out there. That's a Shout Out to Sea_Quark and Net_Man ... wherever you are ! Finally, one thing that does ultimately make a big difference is having your Hotas "tuned" with appropriate Curves and things that can make the Flight Controls react and respond more naturally and realistically and I think you will find that this may eliminate much of your Stall issues ... but likely not all ! Happy Flights PS> ALWAYS assume it's Pilot Error before suggesting it's ED and Flight Models. While the latter possibilities aren't out of the question, it's usually the former-mentioned issue. Again, this can be hard to swallow at times ... but practice and experience are crucial with all DCS SIM Aircraft because this is NOT a Game ! The Game only begins when you get good.
  2. I trust that someday, ALL of the worst of current-day bugs will be resolved, whether be by ED or the 3rd Party Devs. I just hope I live long enough to see it.
  3. I agree with the issue of memory and processing. Many generic, low poly buildings are necessary. But (I think) it's important to have landmark buildings in known places when possible. In this case, as with many cities in the world, the 3D Modeling has already been largely done and Optimization of ALL GE Models is one of several criteria for the acceptance of those models into GE for many of the same reasons. I certainly realize there may be many other specific criteria for DCS World structures. I'm offering My Model just the same and I'm sure my fellow GE Modelers would be happy to see their models going to good use since GE stopped accepting "hand made" model submissions a few years ago (all new 3D buildings in GE have been or are being created using 100% automated processes/software to create them from lidar and/or laser data as well as satellite data/imagery and StreetView imagery). I only have the one model (Ferrari World) in Abu Dhabi but in total I have 134 models in Google Earth (which reside in Google's 3D Warehouse). I don't want anything for the use of my model.
  4. I see that many structures have been modeled for Dubai, but I'm wondering if this will extend to Abu Dhabi ? And if so, I know several of the Model Contributors in Google Earth who would surely be happy to have their models included in the Strait of Hormuz. Speaking for myself, I'd gladly donate my model of "Ferrari World" (as can be seen in GE). Practically all models in GE have been made Optimized for the Web with as few faces (mesh) as possible. Some can still be optimized even more. Ferrari World probably cannot be optimized much more than it already has been ... but I'd give it a go "IF" DCS is interested ? Furthermore, though it has been a while since I corresponded with the other (above mentioned) 3D Model Contributors, I will gladly reconnect with them for the purpose of this Map, again "IF" DCS "may be" interested. All of these buildings can be imported into whatever software DCS currently uses for modeling buildings and saved with the appropriate File Extensions. They can be saved to many different file formats such as .3ds, .dae, .fbx, obj .. etc etc from within the original 3D Model Editor (Google SketchUp) to be opened in whatever software as needed.
  5. Is this happening even when using (or not using) the Manual/Automatic collective mode (as described on Pg 131 of the PDF DCS SA342M Flight Manual) ? The "C" Key turns this On/Off (the Controls Manager shows "COL" when in Hover). This should remain at a constant altitude above ground but then when you turn it Off, you should be able to Ascend/Descend. Is this NOT working for you in DCS 2.1 ? I haven't tried it in DCS 2.1 for a while but it worked the last time I did.
  6. Oh PLEASE. That would be fantastic. This was an Excellent Campaign, even with a few bugs. But because of all the updates (and now 1.5 whereas IIRC, Vergeev Group Campaign was made in DCS 1.2), I don't think I've even tried this campaign again since 1.2. I'd be willing to donate $10 towards a completed "working" version of this Campaign.
  7. Okay wells good to hear. I don't have to have wind blowing in my hair to enjoy a good Sim (at least nothing I can't cure with Fan), I just want to have nice graphics without Frame Rate issues etc. In any case, I'm going to give myself 4 or 5 months to decide (and save). Thanks for the feedback.
  8. That's kind of what I thought. Most of the 1080's I have viewed are between $900 and $1200. Plus I have to get a New Mobo and Processor because my current setup isn't PCIe 3 (it's PCIe 2). One way or the other, I'm going to need almost $3000 CAD (incl. Taxes and Shipping) to get back in business.
  9. I don't suppose the following video card has enough ummfff to do well in DCS 2 NTTR or the WW2 map does it ? EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC GAMING ACX 3.0 Black Edition - Black Edition - graphics card - GF GTX 1070 - 8 GB GDDR5 - PCIe 3.0 x16 - DVI, HDMI, 3 x DisplayPort http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=10061331&Sku=YYD2-08GP45173KR
  10. It has been a while since I flew the F5E but I recall there is a Tutorial Mission for dropping Guided Bombs that you can probably easily modify/customize but then as suggested earlier, it probably wouldn't take but a few minutes to create your own simple shooting range with static and moving targets. I will see what I have here. I know I created a couple missions to practice ground and A2A. If I can find it I'll PM you with a link.
  11. I hear you friend. It probably is more problematic than I can guess. I just think it would be an interesting feature. At the very least, I'd love the ability (for the Animated Pilot) to be able to Salute other players. But again, this too is probably more problematic than realistic. But wouldn't it be Cool ? ~
  12. Wouldn't it be cool if DCS made it so there was an Animated Crew Chief outside the aircraft giving Hand Signals and verbal commands etc ? It might even be fun to see other Ground Crew scurrying around doing other activities too such as Connecting/Disconnecting Air/Power etc. It would IMO really add to the overall Sim experience. Maybe I should consider posting this in the Wish List thread ?
  13. Sometimes it's more fun jumping into the Door Gunner's Seat and doin' the killin' yourself. However, I realize this isn't always the easiest thing to do OR the way a mission is scripted.
  14. I couldn't help but to LMAO when I read this. There's nothing worse than a plane flying like a turkey. Especially when turkeys can't fly (very well). But I can picture them trying and sometimes the AI aren't much better. Good One SiThSpAwN.
  15. I find there seems to be a difference in the level of zoom or ability to zoom beyond/outside the cockpit while in the Co-Pilot seat of the Huey. I can zoom much farther in the Pilot's seat than the Co-Pilot's seat. I'm positive this was not always the case but I can't be sure.
  16. As much as I often gripe I recognize that what ED/DCS are doing is very technical. They are trying (and mostly succeeding) to bring "$20 Million Dollar Flight Simulator" capabilities into the homes of those who love the seriousness of flight and have "slightly above average" home computers. It may be costly to take advantage of this level of technology, but it's a far cry cheaper than $20 Million !! In fact, it is the cost of PC components required to take advantage of and/or appreciate DCS that is my biggest issue. Just the same, I'll gladly take DCS over any other Flight Sim, Game or Software.
  17. I think studies are showing that the current generation of kids, who have (or are) grown up in front of monitors are going to have earlier onset of vision issues. When in front of a monitor, your eyes are focused at a fixed focal length and don't move around in your head as much as when looking around at anything but a monitor !! As such, eyes don't get the "exercise" they need to remain supple and able to focus quickly. Being a victim of this myself PLUS old age, means I definitely have to where glasses to do anything on the computer (or read or drive or ... whatever). The glasses I use for my computer have Giant Rims so that when flying (using TrackIR), I don't have the rims in my way when looking at the peripheral edges of my monitor. It's bad enough having to wear glasses without them also getting in the way of seeing things !
  18. As mentioned, the answer is YES. The fact is, these are completely separate programs and therefore each create their own specific folder (within a Parent DCS folder). You don't have to do anything but keep hitting OK for each of these two versions to install correctly and independently. However, you can if you wish, install each version on different drives or wherever you want but I personally prefer to allow programs to install to their default locations.
  19. Dang. I should have known. Oh well, I'll just have to fly it again then. #$%^&!! At least I know what I have to do now. Thanks for your reply gregzagk .
  20. I had a harder time getting Trimmed than anything. However I did manage to fail this mission. I found the Convoy and Killed the Subject Vehicle and got the Mission Accomplished message. But then as opposed to just landing and shutting down there (I did land cuz I though I was instructed to ?) I checked Comms/F10 to see what if any other Objectives there were. It informed me that I was to continue to follow the Convoy (which was now miles down the road). I can only assume that the Yellow Bus(es) was the Convoy ? I did relocate the "buses" but then Crashed, ultimately Failing the Mission. Had I just shut down or Exited the Game/Mission ... would that have been Mission Accomplished like the message said ?
  21. I just tried Mis 3 again and didn't have nearly the same Frame Rate Drop (lag) that I had in previous attempts. Furthermore, I did as instructed in this thread. I took off; circled within the compound; using the Comms Menu I selected the Cargo (smoke appeared which didn't happen before). Using the Cargo Manager RCtrl+RShft+P I managed to connect while hovering and off I went without the Cargo disconnecting (as it had in the past). Now Mis 4 is another story (for another thread).
  22. I will take the advice of gregzagk's advice and try this again. My Thread regarding this matter is as follows: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=190438
  23. Sorry for the delayed responce. For some reason I didn't get an email notice. Anyway .... With regards to your Question #3, YES I most certainly did activate the Cargo using the Comms/F10 Menu. I even used the RShft+Enter+P for the Cargo Manager which I find works best for Connecting Cargo .. versus the Cargo Cam which I find is best implemented during the flight with cargo and/or for accurately disconnecting the cargo in the right location. My framerate issues happens any time there is allot going on i.e. many vehicles on the move; explosions; smoke; ??? who knows what all. Otherwise I have excellent frame rates. It is worse for me in Campaigns than it is online MP. PS> I found this Thread today which appears to confirm that there is a known bug. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3200860#post3200860 Thanks for the replies.
  24. I'm in no hurry for Win10 and definitely cannot afford a new Mobo, Chip, SSD and Video Card just to to be able to fly DCS 2. I guess I got 4 fairly decent years out of DCS for all my investment (albeit an expensive hobby at this rate). But I think I'll just retire and go fishing. I can't afford to keep up with the changes. Thanks for the replies.
