  1. BTW - Even after setting a new Page File size (much larger than previous aka now Max'd), I still continue to get Connection Timed Out as I just did on the 104th Phoenix Server a few minutes ago. My Ping was 55. So I'm at a loss as to why this continues to happen. However, I will note that the Time Out doesn't appear to be as frequent. But why should this be happening at all ?
  2. Actually, the Formula I used is 1024 x RAM x 1.5 I have 16 Gigs of RAM. Therefore, 1024 x 16 x 1.5 = 24,576 24765 is the MAXIMUM Page File Size I set my Minimum at 20000.
  3. Nope, no joy. While I was able to fly in 104th server for a bit this morning (bored out of my mind in a Gazelle because battle area is so far away for a chopper) I didn't have any issues there. But then I only flew in Warbirds of Prey (Mustang) for about 15 minutes and splat .... Connection Timed Out .... again. I'll go back to 104th server later today and see if it continues to be trouble free or whether the issue continues to exist, even with the autoexec.cfg file.
  4. So I now have a 1 TB SSD (nand) for Windows and DCS. I also have a 250 GB SSD that I "did have" DCS only on it but reinstalled to the 1 TB SSD. Should I set the Page File to use the main SSD or the 250 or does it matter ?
  5. Thanks I'll give that a shot. So is this a Internet Connection thing of sorts ? i.e. my service provider issue or something ? Why is this happening ? Thanks again. I'll let you know how it works.
  6. Thank you.
  7. Does this apply to those with only 16 Gigs of RAM ?
  8. I continue to have this problem. I have been flying in several servers where I often have this same issue with the "Connection Timed Out" Error CTD. I just flew in 104th Phoenix server and this happened 4 times in 1.5 hours. Never saw any action. Too busy reloading, rearming, flying and getting the F'ing Connection Timed Out error. I have tried disabling my Antivirus ... it has NOTHING to do with that for sure. Brand New Computer Build and with Win10. All updates to Windows and DCS. Everything works beautifully ... except of course DCS. Somebody Please Help. PS> If you can't help or don't have the same problem, please don't post. Thx.
  9. So I just checked again and it certainly appeared in the DLC section that Persian Gulf had been installed. So I checked the Installed Terrains and could see it there too. There is a little Green Slider thingy to the left of where our Serial Key would normally show (there is no key for PG). I slid it left and then back the right again and restarted. Now the map and previously created PG Map Missions show up. It also now shows up in ME as well. Issue Resolved.
  10. Yup. Did so. I just checked the DLC to make sure I had in fact installed it. Although, I did not check the Installed section of DCS. I'll take a look at that now.
  11. I recently built a new computer and reinstalled EVERYTHING. Today is the first time that I have chosen to jump into the Persian Gulf Map and just now discovered that I don't have this map in my list. It does not show up as being available for download, nor does it show up in the Mission Editor. Furthermore, any and all missions previously created using said map have all disappeared. What's up with that ? PS> I am using the Open Beta version and have the most recent Update installed as well. Please Help. I want to see Ferrari World !
  12. I finally got into a helicopter with the VR this afternoon. It appears I have to reset my IPD again so things look like the right scale (i.e. No D. Trump hands on the stick) but other than that, I got into a Gazelle and flew around until I almost tossed my cookies again. I have to admit, I did a couple rounds on a roller coaster before flying to get Oculus setup again .. so that didn't help my stomach at all. But needless to say, it was a truly amazing sensation in the chopper. VERY Life Like. Descending was really wild on the stomach. Being able to see much more of the cockpit RE Peripheral vision really makes a HUGE difference over TrackIR or anything else out there (that I know of). Unfortunately, I was unable to film my reaction as of yet. I still have a couple things to set up on here. But I think you can picture it. An expression of astonishment mixed with bewilderment and a side order of greenish-grey skin color, topped off with dry mouth .. LOL. Thanks again for the Win10 Minimizing/Task Switching Tips.
  13. So I have tried a couple things out that were recommended or suggested. One thing that certainly has a positive affect to resolve my issue is to start all other programs Before starting DCS. That definitely made a difference. So far I have not had to use Alt+Ctrl+Del but at least I know that too is an option. For now I just have to get used to doing things just a bit differently than before Win10. As far as VR and Helo's, well that will just have to wait until this afternoon. I have to make sure Oculus is working properly and then I'll give it a try and let y'all know how I make out with that. Thanks again.
  14. PS> I'll be happy if I can resolve my issue tomorrow so I can get on with trying Oculus DK2 on my new system. The kind gentleman (name withheld) to "gave me" the Oculus is curious to hear my reaction to flying Helicopters with it. I have already flown in the Mustang with it and that was very cool. But I have a feeling from his curiosity that flying a helo will be an even more thrilling experience. So I can't wait to try it and let him know. Have a great night everyone and thanks again.
  15. Thanks BitMaster I appreciate your reply. In fact, while I was not familiar with Alt-F4 (because I haven't used Functions as primary actions since the invent of the Mouse), I certainly wasn't going to use it without first researching it. That was the very first thing I did and I was going to report that with the results of my tests. But I did do that research already and came to the obvious conclusion that it is NOT a good/useful command with regards to my situation UNLESS I actually wanted to shut DCS down completely and quickly (as you also kindly indicated). That said, I'd never be in so much of a hurry to shut DCS or most other programs down this way. Anyway, unfortunately for me I have been too crippled to do much of anything today and haven't turned DCS on since yesterday AM .. much to my chagrin. But I do intend to try out those things that have been suggested that I have already researched .. including Alt+Spacebar+N (Thank You for that hansangb). My intent is to jump in tomorrow. My first experiment will be following the suggestion to start all other programs first (eg: TrackIR, Discord, SimpleRadio) and then DCS. If the suggested procedures don't work with that setup, I won't have much hope for them if I leave Discord and Simple Radio until after launching DCS (which I usually do almost simultaneously or immediately after double-clicking DCS). Thanks again to all those that have replied.
  16. I'll be experimenting with these suggestions later today (when my back stops aching from shoveling snow). I'll definitely try first opening all my other programs BEFORE starting DCS too. Hopefully, that makes all the difference. But at least if all else fails I have the Alt+Ctrl+Del. As well, someone else suggested Alt+F4 which I have yet to try. Thanks for the help. I'll report back later today with my results.
  17. Thanks for the replies. I am in fact, in Windowed Mode (i.e. Box NOT Checked aka Blank) but Alt+anything usually does nothing but flash the other open windows in front of me for a split second. Or long enough for me to Tab to the program I want ... let go and pfffft. still in DCS. I have not yet tried the Alt-Ctrl-Del but I guess I'll have to give it a try because none of the other typical Windows Commands are working (or not consistently if at all). I was actually trying to avoid that method because after 30 years on PC's, I have learned to use that for other specific intent. But if it works, I'll do it. I'll let you know how that works out. Again, thanks for the replies and suggestions.
  18. So I had to break down and get Win 10 which I had been putting off. Now I know more than ever why I waited. I HATE Win 10 with a passion now. Amongst the things I hate, is the fact that I cannot Minimize DCS in order to access other programs (that are running) such as Discord or TS or anything else. I have tried all the usual LAlt+Tab, LAlt+Esc, LCtrl+Tab (in game chat), LCtrl+Esc as well I have tried the LWin+D, LWin+M etc etc etc. I have hit every combination of keys I can think of or can find in Google. The LWin+D "SHOULD" Minimize everything taking you back to the Desktop .. but NOPE. I don't know how anyone does anything in this crap OS. And this is only my DCS issue with Win 10. Someone Please Help with a Solution (preferably someone who has experienced this same thing with the most up-to-date Win 10 Home 64 bit.
  19. Again, I agree with Shahdoh that the Oil Rad Damper provides Minimal Drag. In fact, I often just leave it wide open during racing. Otherwise, during air-to-air or air-to-ground flight, I just leave BOTH Rad and Oil on Auto. IF things start to heat up, I open the Oil all the way (press and hold for 5 seconds). I leave the Rad damper on Auto almost always UNLESS Racing. Then I close it up as much as possible (open for 2 - 6x 1second pushes). 2 probably isn't enough and 6 will cause to much drag. I give you that range for experimentation. My Race Setting is "somewhere between those two figures" !! Dog Fighting and Stunts > Oil open and Rad on Auto OR Rad all the way open ... but then it's too hard to Run Away ... which I often find myself doing ... but I do it well ! LOL
  20. I'm one of those that likes the leaner look. But only if it has Dual Headers and Large Intake !
  21. @baylor703 Try closing the Rad all the way and then open it with 4 x 1 second presses of the Open switch. Fly balls to the wall on the throttle; full WEP @ 2700 RPM. Then IF and whenever the temp appears to be getting at the top end of the Green zone, open the OIL Damper for 5 seconds (which is completely open). Most people don't believe me but you will see that the temp drops rapidly when you do that. Then you can close the Oil Damper up to keep the drag to a minimal ... however I often leave mine wide open for the duration of a race. With the Rad open only as much as I suggested you will get maximum cooling with minimum drag as long as you remain above 250 mph. And this way you can remain in full throttle and WEP for over 18 minutes (as we had to do in Shahdoh's "Gudata Race Course" in 2015). Try it as I have mentioned and when you are satisfied that your engine will take it, you can experiment with opening/closing the damper a little bit either way. There is a sweet spot there.
  22. The trick is to limit drag by closing the dampers as much as possible while maintaining air flow for cooling. In WEP and Full Throttle, the dampers can be all but closed, however you must maintain your speed to maintain the airflow. And as Shahdoh has stated, we fly just above the ground (100-300 feet AGL) all the time with everything punched as hard as we can punch it. And it all makes a huge difference. And for example, if you are Full Throttle, RPM's @ 2700 and WEP on, you are going to lag behind the others if you have your Rad Dampers on Auto due to the drag. Shahdoh is "the man" when it comes to this stuff. His knowledge and sharing of the same, dramatically increased my performance at the Races this year.
  23. Yes it is difficult to do anything in F10 close to the Markers. While not 100% accurate, I have simply stopped my Ruler Line just past the Marker (zoomed in as close as possible and then right click just beyond or just before the Marker). At least this way you get the correct Heading and have a "usable" mileage/distance to work with ... at least for locating targets etc.
  24. Actually, I just discovered his DCS Configuration Manager software link AFTER I posted. I haven't tried it yet but I most certainly will. The point of my post however, was with regards to DCS implementing this type of feature in-game, rather than having the need for talented people like Skatezilla to produce external software. In the meantime, if this Config Manager works I'll use it. Thanks
