  1. I know this sounds like a dumb question, but where do I buy this game?
  2. Where 2 see scouter in airplane?
  3. People who are going to buy FC3 already have their money set aside for it. The people that don't? Eh, didn't need them anyways.
  4. No, I just said that it is unlikely a copy, not that it wasn't a good airplane..
  5. Maybe if the F-16 was Chinese and had two engines.. As for people saying that it is a copy similar to China and Russia. Well, not necessarily. China actually did copy Russian aircraft piece for piece (J-7 and J-11), with controversy arising over the production of the J-7 and J-15 aircraft because neither have production licenses from Russia to be built (J-7 was modified MiG-21 and license was revoked, whereas the J-15 is an unlicensed production of the Su-33), and manufacturing them constitutes a breach of the licensing agreement. Copies of U.S. aircraft however, aren't really going to be copies. More generalizations and guesses at best. This is because China doesn't have direct access to the designs and manufacturing techniques used to create the aircraft we have (and you are a fool if you think that you can gain all of that knowledge simply from hacking LHM).
  6. Or a flatter one.. That old CRT must be murder on the eyes.
  7. Likely there are multiple backlights, and multiple actual displays and outputs in the event of a single system failure. This is how it works in my Cirrus anyways, and I doubt that it would be less stable for something that is supposed to be flying into combat. Also, I sincerely hope that they get this upgrade. Especially with the integrated distributed sensors that they are talking about. This generation is proving to be interesting.
  8. I hope so, this has gotten completely out of hand if the above statements are true. Though one good thing I suppose, is that it will turn out to be a good bar story for those two guys provided nothing bad happens to them :D.
  9. You don't need internet to my knowledge when playing on LAN. Launch the Multiplayer client, and then when the login box appears, click "Cancel", and then click the "LAN" tab. This should work.
  10. lol :D
  11. Yeah, I guess it isn't my business to try and help if you don't want it. Though I still seriously have doubts that you yourself realized what the actual problem was. I can assure you that it probably isn't the tail wheel, even though you think it was. More than likely you just got better at it and covered up the root of the problem (which would still exist), and I recommend you re-think your approach, or at least re-examine the steps you use for evaluating you own performance (IMHO proper self-evaluation is an ABSOLUTE MUST for any pilot, virtual or otherwise). But just remember, if at any time you feel like you are having trouble with something, don't feel like you can't come back and ask questions. If we never learned from our mistakes, humans would still be stuck in caves and we wouldn't HAVE nice things like airplanes. Just try and keep an open mind about it. The reason most people hang out around these forums is precisely to help struggling people with their issues, and if we help you with something, who knows, maybe you can pass that knowledge along later :) The thing no one aspires to have around here though is spreading of misinformation. If you start spreading this, people will come down on you with ten tons of books and manuals from every conceivable corner of the known universe until you are breathing lift equations. After all, it is no good teaching people wrong info, even if you yourself are content with it. If you want to argue about something, argue about the metaphysical meaning of heat. Or I don't know, whether or not it is a good idea to eat maggot filled cheese. Or possibly you know someone who is really good at throwing large telephone poles. Or you could decide to take up FC3 and argue U.S. vs. Rus. That one is ALWAYS popular. Point is, there are plenty of things worth arguing over, but this is not one of them. Either take the advice or don't. if you don't like it, don't listen, but also don't complain about it. Especially when you were the one who asked what you were doing wrong to begin with. Peace out, This is absolutely the last comment I am making on this matter forgoing the possibility of further important developments.
  12. In fact, it is true. Discounting the actual movement area, the analog precision (number of digits on the sensitivity scale, and the accuracy of the controllers in reporting those digits to the sim) is much better on pedals and most sticks than those of a standard gamepad type controller. Actually, there is a reason simulators are used so heavily for commercial aircraft training. They do very accurately teach you how to fly an aircraft before even setting foot in a "live" plane. Much of my training in Sr-20's was done with sims, especially the instrument stuff. I can also assure you that I did not, at any point, use two hands to control the stick in that aircraft. In fact, most of the time I used zero hands. The autopilot is amazing in that bird. Actually you did, and I quote "but its still like the RC P51 i have that i got for 50$ flying on a windy day, if this is their interpretation of a real flight of a p51d, ide suggest trying to sit in one and fly it one day" Nope, not completely at least, but there is a great deal of preparation that you can do with sim gear before stepping foot in a plane nowadays. Technology is wonderful.
  13. There are times when I wish it was "arrow to the head" instead of 'arrow to the knee'.
  14. I vote fix. I dislike having to change it manually.
  15. Exactly, that's the reason why it is two multirole air to air kills (one sortie) instead of zero. It is also the reason why the A-10C commonly carries two AIM-9M's with it. No plan is perfect and you might need to defend yourself in case some op in Washington gets some bad intel. Or in case you want to run down some enemy Su-25's in DCS: W. At any rate, I suspect the multirole aircraft to be extremely popular when they finally make it over here. For some reason people like fast jets that can do everything really poorly (I kid, the F-16C is a fantastic fighter, but its low fuel and payload does make it a rather poor CAS jet) over slow jets that can do one thing really well. Me, I am waiting for an F-15C and the SH (And by waiting I mean that I am busy playing FC2/3 and A-10C, with a touch of P-51D and Ka-50 just to make sure my skills don't rot away). I've always loved Navy jets, but the performance of the 15C is absolutely staggering, and man will the Russians be complaining when all of that jet's systems get to play.
  16. Go back to your "I've only been in one mission in my entire life where I've ever had to use both air to air missiles and bombs in the same sortie" F-16C :D
  17. FC3 will not be fulfilling anyone's multirole desires. It has no multirole aircraft in its lineup. But if your idea is how to do proper air combat, FC3 is a perfect choice. If you are dead set on flying something that is both effective at air to air and air to ground, then I'd suggest waiting for DCS: F-15E or the Tiffy to come out.
  18. Nice haiku..
  19. If you are holding your breath for a true multirole aircraft, then you should probably dust BMS off as DCS won't have one for a while now. At least into next year, unless you consider the MiG-21 Bis I-75 to be "multirole". The aircraft will be much improved, especially in terms of missiles, in FC3. Plus DCS World integration is, at least for me, a reason in and of itself to purchase FC3.
  20. That's true, never thought about it that way. Okay, more likely than not I will get both of them, especially if the American one comes with an added boat-nus hehe, get it? :D (DCS needs more boats. Our Yacht club is far too tiny :()
  21. This was actually helpful information. semi-helpful, The X-box axis do not have the range of motion required, at the level of precision required to perform complex maneuvers easily. You can still do them, but they won't be anywhere near as precise, and they will take a lot more training, time, and effort to accomplish. Remember that abrasive side I was telling you about? Yes, you made an incorrect supposition about the flight model of the aircraft, and failed to provide any substantial evidence or experience relevant to the matter. Again, you were criticizing the flight model of the pony at this point, and the correction was to tell you that it was something you were doing wrong, not the aircraft. Yeah, I'll agree, this attitude was pretty uncalled for. But then again, you are being ostentatious "Semi-helpful, The X-box axis do not have the range of motion required, at the level of precision required to perform complex maneuvers easily. You can still do them, but they won't be anywhere near as precise, and they will take a lot more training, time, and effort to accomplish." Though this statement was a little more aggravated than the last on this matter. They do, actually. They used to own two, but sold one some years back. Although name-calling is kind of uncalled for, he is right. Most people posting in this thread were trying to help you. You will agree that it was your lack of experience that led to the original problem, regardless of what that problem actually was. You will hopefully also admit that your controller is pretty inferior when compared to full HOTAS setups. personal experience from this guy recommending that you get a stick. I see no belligerence here. There were only a few posts in this thread that could be seen as even remotely condescending. Also labeling me for "spamming" your thread was kind of inconsiderate of you when you will see that I was only trying to provide useful information as to ED's and TFC's backgrounds. My previous post of page 3 might be considered as spam, but it is just a bit of wit directed at Viper, whilst confirming that it IS possible to use an Xbox controller to fly, however unnecessarily difficult it may make it.
  22. You mean 262? The Me-109 was the German fighter used through most of the war. And you are right, no one does fly perfectly, that's why it is always nice to receive advice from people who have been flying a lot longer. Flying Spaghetti Monster knows that I needed help when I started. In fact, I waited far too long to get the help I needed, and now I am spending my time trying to make up for all of the bad habits that I have taught myself. Really, if you want to fly well, I would suggest joining a squadron, or at the very least hanging out with them. There are probably a few P-51D squadrons cropping up around here. Also lots of people tried to help you, so don't blame it on the community please. They are (and have been for as long as I can remember) extremely helpful. However certain members can be a bit abrasive in their tone, but this does not mean that they aren't trying to help. P.S. my previous comment about not asking which plane is better was a joke. Both Russian and American pilots on this forum are extremely fanatical about the aircraft they fly, and any attempt to dissuade them usually results in some argument or another.
  23. For a company that deals in telephone poles and man-skirts. You know, all around dangerous stuff.
  24. It's possible, if you hit a tank's armor just right. Though it would be absurdly hard to test, and it would likely be by something like a single low velocity .50 bullet, so probably not going to be significant. If that is, it does any damage at all. Might do a little bit more with the A-10's bullets because they tend to explode.
  25. Yeah, even though I am American, I want the GR-9 just that little bit more over the AV-8B II+, so I hope it will be worth the wait.
