  1. Dang! A case on not reading the whole thread....sorry. :)
  2. Cool!. Thanks for sharing :)
  3. Curious. Just did the mod on my 52 Pro and the pitch axis is inverted. Could this be due to the polarity being arse-about? It's no big deal. I just inverted the channels in game. Just curious about it. Any one else had this?
  4. Great Job Talisman!
  5. Best wishes Matt. Hope it goes really well. :)
  6. Awesome textures. Seeing this, next time I go for a pop up attack behind one of those buildings, I would be expecting a certain scene out of "Blue Thunder"....You know what I mean ;)
  7. When I ask this, I don't mean to be snobby, but are you after a solid, technical air combat simulator, or something that you can log in and have fun for an hour or two of your spare time? I can't speak for LO FC2, although I do have it, I haven't played it much at all. DCS: Blackshark is full-on. Very technical and from what I read, quite realistic. When making the distinction between LO Platinum and DCS:BS, you are comparing apples and oranges. If you have played Hawx and expect something close to that, then I'm afraid you'll be in for a severe shock :). Please discard any preconceived ideas when comparing it to other "simulators".
  8. Sniper, Check this out: and this : http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/Resources_for_New_Pilots In the second one, there is a link to Leading Edge training video. It's big, but well worth the download.
  9. Hi Sniper. Welcome.:) Answers for your questions are as follows: Extremely. Unless you take the time to read the documentation, you will struggle. Depends how quickly you adapt. Flying a R22 Robby in FSX is worlds away from the KA-50. The learning curve is steep. Practice, practice, practice. Oh, and did I mention read the manual? Definitely. If you can afford it, then it is strongly recommended. There is a DIY version called Freetrack, if you are handy. Just google it... I can't stress enough the importance of reading the manual. Read it, and understand it. Again, welcome to the forums :).
  10. From your attachment, I can see a whole bunch of M1A2's in one piece, and an equally large number of smoking (I have to assume) T-80u's. I did a quick and dirty mission 6 v 6 on flat, even ground. From the start, I could see a difference in the rate of fire. While the US tanks fire maybe 3-4 rounds (between them) for the whole engagement, the T-80U's are sending round after round. The contact lasts less than a minute. I'm thinking that maybe some of the M1A2's fire control gear is modelled in a simplified way, but still too slow to follow a realistic firing pattern (IMO). Something to do with saving computing power for the aircraft modelling? I know from flying the KA-50 that they are still deadly accurate at times. While this is the case, could it be that ED have "dumbed down" a true to life targeting model for the Abrams, so that us poor KA-50 pilots don't get pasted all the time? ;)
  11. Wrong thread, maybe? No takers? I'm thinking it may be in the wrong thread, but I am unsure where this post would go...
  12. I am unsure if this question has already been fielded, but what is the feasibility of providing smoke laying/dispensing for ground units. It's been a question in my head for some time, and I suspect it's subject to PC computing power. I am no coder, but I believe that smoke/gas systems are rendered using a particle model. How difficult would it be to add the aspect of passive defence to ground units? Also, is reactive armour modelled at all? Far be it for me to say that killing tanks at range is easy, but just to add that element of realism would be huge, IMO... Cheers .
  13. Mi-24? Thinking it's a rear seat photo, with the forward seat surround in view...
  14. Outstanding effort, Mustang :). Like Bob, I am going to install these once my Christmas-in July present comes around... Cheers and keep up the great work!
  15. Just saw the new A-Team movie. OMGWTF!! it would appear that the producers believe that physics is malleable in the presence of cool... In my humble opinion, I believe it to be the crock of the year... Opinions?
  16. Very nice! Hope ya got shin guards tho! I anticipate that you will get bruised shins and knees applying rudder :). Every time I look down at the Blackshark cockpit, I think the same thing to myself... Great effort!
  17. Forgive the resistance offered in my first post, as the OP was that of an oath to be undertaken. To undertake an oath is to swear to abide by a set of rules/code of conduct. Upon joining a server, like the 104th dedicated I feel that, in my conduct I am abiding by the server rules. With regard to the OP, I believe I "try to do" as you have put it, as I am still learning; ergo, I am abiding by the oath, yet not signed to it. I couldn't agree more. It's when the level of my experience doesn't match that of yours that I see the difference in our two opinions. eg targets of opportunity, level of brevity etc... FC2 and definitely the DCS series will never become Xbox live, or god-forbid, a Hawx MP game, simply for the complexity of both. I believe it discourages potential a-holes simply because there is a learning curve to deal with. My argument arises from giving opportunity to those that have put in the time to learn aircraft systems, navigation and maybe some brevity. As it would seem you are or the same opinion to a degree, I suggest maybe not an oath but simply a ticker across top of chat window, reminding players of what is required when joining a given server. I'm not sure how easy/hard this would be from a modding/coding point of view, but since few, if any a-holes read the brief (and any server rules in the text) then a repeating message might help it sink in.
  18. I really enjoy flying on public server for the relaxed atmosphere and lack of pretence. While I'm sure Smoky understands this and makes distinctions between this and an arcade server in the construction of his argument, I don't believe he was in any way being insulting about it. Viper puts a very good point forward in that enforcing rules is one thing. Enforcing a level of behaviour beyond obvious respect and good will, will generally turn users to believe the "Thought Police" have arrived. I have to agree that of all the online environments I've experienced, this one is the most mature in the conduct of it's users. Big ups, people.
  19. No harm or malice taken. Now, since you seem to require specifics, when I say I am still learning, I am referring to brevity and tactics for the most part. I know how to fly (and startup /shut down, Boberro)my own helo. I started serious simming on FSX nearly 2 years ago, and only recently (2 or 3 months) flying MP. I am all for teamwork and never leaving my wingman. My query on taxi way t/o (to be more precise, helo apron) with regard to KA 50's was a valid one, I believe and yet to be answered. What server do you frequent? There are only 2 that I use, the 104th Dedicated being 95% of the time. I follow the rules. I respect the other players. When I am Blue and the mission progress/success requires it, I will attempt to kill Red players, and vice versa. I am trying to be a better sim pilot, as you suspect, but rather than being closed to the newer player, I am more open minded to the broad spectrum of ability/knowledge of players who join said servers. Some of the newer (greener) players might bring some knowledge to the party. You never know. To give an example, I have recently been flying with a young lad (who will remain nameless) who has had DCS:BS for just over a week. The inroads he has made are astounding. There is a lot to learn and in the short period time he has flown the 50, I am very impressed. There is still alot to learn however, and with the help of other players of higher skill level, much can be achieved in a shorter period of time than the SP experience can provide. This cannot be done on "arcade" servers, the likes of which I have yet to come across, not that I am actively looking. It would seem that there have been incidence where a random "noob" has wrecked your experience by t/k or lone wolfing. Well, I kindly suggest you quickly get used to the MP environment. There will always be this particular element lurking on MP servers. Mechanisms such as Servman are in place to address some issues, but random noobs are an eventuality. Can you seriously attest to the simulation integrity of the a/c in FC2? Are they in any way in direct comparison to the depth and breadth the upcoming title DCS:A10C or Falcon 4? Are you therefore calling yourself a true simulation flyer? Note that I am in no way criticising the validity of the ED team in the enjoyable and engrossing product that is Flaming Cliffs 2. To reiterate, there is no black and white, as there is no arcade and simulation player. It's a sliding scale of experience and ability. I have read and understood the flight manual of my KA-50. I have flown for a some 100 hours or so (estimated). Am I still a noob? If you wish to participate in true to life exercises with the player elements you desire, then I suggest organising regular invitation only meets on a locked server. I will not sign your petition as I still believe it's an elitist move, given the arbitrary frames of reference you use for the players of whom have less knowledge than yourself. Thank you.
  20. Do KA-50's need to do rolling starts? Let's face it, they take longer to take off and land than fixed wing and can tie up an airstrip for jocks to land their crippled birds...:P Seriously, this simulation experience has a spectrum of users. I find it disheartening that some seem to want to impose a dogmatic approach to multiplayer. Sure, there should be rules, based on respect and understanding, but it's an over simplification to put players in the "Simulator MP" and "Arcade MP" baskets. There is a lot that I still need to learn, but I am not going to learn any of it on an "Arcade" server... It all sounds like hubris and elitism IMO...
  21. As all above have stated, it's worth it. Give the expense of it the consideration you would a video card, or PSU upgrade for your rig. It's going to be just as integral a part of your simming experience as any core component of your computer. A must have for simmers. My $0.05...
  22. I have been searching for answers regarding the water quality at low altitude for a wee while now. The water in your shot, Mustang, looks good, however mine looks to be a similar depth and reflectiveness at 10 meters alt ...It kind of gives the false impression of height, but in reality, I am just a few meters from a watery end., and have to pay close attention to my HUD. EDIT: this is what I mean: BTW nice shots, everyone! Great textures...
  23. Hi Olympuss, i suggest you post here: http://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=96 It is a thread specifically created to help with game controllers & FCS :) Good luck!
