Krymsk PRMG channel 2 works for me well (tested even in the training landing mission).

Night instrument lightning has unfortunately not been fixed in 2.5.1, but hopefully we will get a fix soon, my hopes are high as it is now much more important, as deferred shading cannot be turned off any longer.
-
Thank you ED! The whole sim seems to be running much smoother on my end. I ran today the same mission in 2.5.1OB as yesterday and the performance was much much smoother, stable 60FPS throughout no stutters, great job!.
-
Canopy glare seems to be fixed in 2.5.1OB - thank you very much! Now I can enjoy Mig-21BIS again :)
-
It would be best if the mirror completely disappeared from the cockpit when turned off - it should be a simple fix. This is probably the only gripe I have with the module.

L-39 is a great trainer that forces you to fly the aircraft properly. Once you master attacking ground targets in it meeting strict criteria for ingress altitude, sight settings, weapon settings, dive angle, release height, etc...once you get into Mig-21, Su-25 those things become quite easy and once you get into A-10C it all becomes super easy :) Once you master L-39 in all weather conditions, weapons employment and navigation, most of the other jet planes will be much easier for you to get into - and that is probably the main purpose of it (apart the possibilities to utilize it as a COIN aircraft).

AI wingman landing lights always turned on.
Dr_Arrow replied to Amarok_73's topic in General Problems
Well, it still hasn't been fixed and probably never will  -
I think there still should be some popular possibilities regarding PFM/ASM VVS aircraft like full fidelity Su-25A (Flight model is there, cockpit is there, some systems too) then Mig-23ML, Su-17, Mig-29A. I think that Grach would require the least work from ED and could be quite popular as well as economically feasible.

The problem with MFAA on my setup (Nvidia - GTX 1070), that I get a lot of shimmering, while this does not happen with MSAA, although the resulting picture quality is comparable. With MFAA the whole cities are simmering when looking at them at angle, so this is pretty bad and I have to take the massive performance hit with MSAA. Is there any way to get rid of the shimmer? Do you guys also have it?

Deleting saved games hasn't helped (no mods, repaired clean install). Still getting crashes, I am attaching my log file (My config is i7-2600K@3.6Ghz, 16GB DDR3 RAM, Win-10 64Bit, Nvidia GTX-1070 8GB (latest drivers), DCS on a separate Samsung SSD - 256GB.). dcs.log_crash.zip dcs.log-20180412-205935.zip

I think it is especially bad with Mig-21, with other planes the tracks work usually quite well from take-off to landing. With Mig-21 the track plays completely differently from the beginning, thus unusable.
-
Dear BigNewy, thanks for the advice, I have repaired my install and do not use mods, however I have not deleted my saved games folder after the last update, the frequency of these crashes is maybe 1 in 5-7 single-player simple missions (not more than 50 units on Caucasus). My config is i7-2600K@3.6Ghz, 16GB DDR3 RAM, Win-10, Nvidia GTX-1070 8GB (latest drivers), DCS on a separate Samsung SSD - 256GB. I will try to delete the saved games folder and if a crash happens I will attach the whole log (I have many of them).
-
BigNewy: I am also experiencing crashes - no MODS, repaired install, but it is not solved. When the game is reading a mission it crashes halfway. LOGIRich, thank you for participation in this thread. Anyway I do not think G940 was such a bad product, the stick is solid and after some 5 years I still use it especially for helicopters. There is no other accessible FFB stick in the market and it would be great to have X-56 FFB version. People do not realize it but FFB trimming is a very important aspect in aircraft control, controlling helicopters without FFB is totally unrealistic experience. We strive on absolute precision in flight dynamics/graphics in sims, but do not have working/realistic controllers which are absolutely different to RL, apart digital FBW aircraft. So I hope there will be at least one FFB quality (even higher priced) product on the market I hope you can make it a reality. Thank you.
-
I hope this will be fixed in the upcoming patch, but it would be nice to get some quick "unofficial" fix, because it often makes the Mig-21 hardly flyable, when your most important sensor is your eyeball MK-1 and you often cannot use it. I have to fly IFR in clear sunny weather conditions, which is ridiculous. It would be also helpful at least if the helmet sun visor would remove the glare, if canopy fix is too hard to do.
-
What is the MOD with the clear canopy? I have clean cockpit mod, however deferred shading canopy glare is just as bad as with the stock cockpit.
-
Has it ever been installed on L-39, I've read many manuals, but have not found any mention of this system?

game freeze still going on in new patch.
Dr_Arrow replied to CAT_101st's topic in Game Performance Bugs
I've been also playing with the new patch - Caucasus stock/2.5OB (DCS/2.5.0.15184), and yesterday I experienced two strange freezes during a mission. The mission was stuttering from the beginning, than it un-choked and ran absolutely fluently for a while, then began to stutter badly again, although I have good FPS between 45-60 with VSYNC. In half of the mission the sim froze completely, sound was running - I waited for 3 minutes and than it unfroze, stuttered for 10 minutes than it ran again nicely after that it again froze for some 15 seconds and after this ran again nicely till the end. I am attaching my dcs.log file, maybe it can provide some interesting information. I just cannot find any systematic explanation, because sometimes the sim is running flawlessly and other times it stuttering and freezing, with no change in settings or configuration. My system config is: Intel i2600K at 3.4Ghz, 16GB DDR3 RAM, Gainward NVIDIA 1070GTX, 250GB dedicated DCS SSD, 250GB Win 10 64 bit Intel SSD. OB2.5freeze.zip -
I've had good FPS with 2.2, mostly having it at stable 60 FPS VSYNC with my config NVidia GTX1070, dedicated Samsung SSD for DCS, 16GB DDR3, Intel i7-2600K@3.4Ghz. With 2.5 Caucassus I got bad stutters that everybody is talking about here. I've had good FPS again and tuned my graphic settings for 50-60 FPS, but no matter what I did I could not get rid of the stutters every 3-5 seconds and sometimes freezes for some 10-15 seconds, I tried everything - affinity tricks, sync tricks, driver reinstal, DCS reinstal, repair, MSAA tweaks, Shadow tweaks, FOV tweaks, killing all win processes, deleting caches, settings, disabling ethernet, different Nvidia settings, observing GPU loads (at 80%), processor loads (30-40%) etc. Always when I thought I solved it, the game has shown me that I did not and most of these tweaks were just placebo at first. The only real thing that has indeed helped me after all that exhausting testing, tweaking and nerves was disabling shader cache in NVidia settings with 391.01 driver. Now I get mostly 60FPS with smooth gameplay, I do not know, but it might helps someone, try disabling the shader cache, it puts some more strain on the processor but for me DCS is more GPU heavy.

Using "throttle for GS and stick for AOA" when landing
Dr_Arrow replied to LJQCN101's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
I do not know if it has already been posted in this thread, but this video is really interesting not only in description of the magic carpet landing system, but general ship landing techniques and how magic carpet improves it, might give someone a better understanding of what's going on: -
F/A-18E,F,G, Advanced Super Hornet - Block III+ - F/A-18XT
Dr_Arrow replied to SkateZilla's topic in Military and Aviation
I know removing the canted pylons would cost a lot of money, but isn't it really performance wise a big gain, moreover when projecting the future life of super hornets in decades? I just cannot understand that they can live with such apparent error, which compromises performance and costly improving it by using CFTs and other measures, while leaving the pylons canted. This also can't be good for frontal RCS. -

Will Block III still have the canted wing pylons? -
Vikhr missiles stop working after a while and nose dive
Dr_Arrow replied to fargo007's topic in Bugs and Problems
AFAIK, cannon does not need laser for guidance, to fire the cannon you need slant range measurement (with laser)/estimation (without laser). Estimation can be done with damaged laser, the system will calculate range of the target using other parameters, but it is a lot less precise than laser ranging. So you can hit targets with cannon without working laser, but range will be only estimated, so less precise. -
DCS World TARGET profile for TM Cougar and Warthog + MFDs

Home Fries: this is it, I somehow missed that you need to define modifiers as well within DCS. Thank you very much.- 2261 replies

DCS World TARGET profile for TM Cougar and Warthog + MFDs
Dr_Arrow replied to Home Fries's topic in Thrustmaster
I cannot get shifted commands working with 2.5 L-39C with warthog, S3+combinations do nothing, is it a problem with 2.5 version or am I doing something wrong? All other commands are working, the shifted ones do simply not. Thank you very much for an answer.- 2261 replies
