  1. Not my favourite map, nor in my top three, but it is a solid map. Just had a couple of great flights, get the lighting right and it's gorgeous. And they did excellent work with the big cities, they look good and good FPS. Nice to see that DCS can have that kind of scenery. Like to see better night lighting, especially at the big airports, but maybe that will come later. But all in all a good and interesting map. Happy to have bought it Day One.
  2. And isn't the height of the monitor reduced? That part bothers me. As for the off to the side view, I admit I like looking at the landscape.
  3. Well the RB Mirage 2000 is still on sale at Steam. 25% off. That's good.
  4. The RB Mirage 2000 is still on sale, 25% off. Kind of a shame the plane doesn't interest me. I know it's well put together and a lot of people love it, but it leaves me cold. If someone could slip up and make the FC3 Mig-15 go on sale, I'd be delighted.
  5. No, I get extra sensitive about it. At $500 you hit that $75 mark in taxes. So $500 is $575. That's noticeable. Beyond that, everything is about $100 more than sticker price. After $1000, things start pushing $200 more than sticker price. Bleah!
  6. I had the GP850 at $800 because I added in the 15% tax we pay here. Fun stuff, eh? Once you hit the $500 mark, the tax really starts to play a role.
  7. The GP750 looks tasty, and Amazon Canada has it at $379. That one is a strong possibility. I stick with Amazon because though they may be the cosmic center of all that is evil, they have given me outstanding! customer service. And my Amazon wallet is already loaded up.
  8. Thanks for that. I have the LG 27GP850 now and I'm very happy with it, bought in in 2021, and it cost about the same then as the 32" model does now. The 32" model is "on sale" at about $800 tax in. I thought it would be less, but I'm sure it's very nice. The things we do for DCS.
  9. Can I come over to your house and play? My mom said it was okay.
  10. That's wisdom. But faced with the dopamine hit when you click on "add to cat", wisdom is not always right there when you need it. Ice cream calms me down.
  11. Amazon has a few 27" 1440p OLED monitors and they are mind bogglingly expensive. The least expensive is the Alienware at about $1050Cdn. tax in. The others, LG and Samsung, go up to about $1500Cdn. tx in. McNuts! Not going to impulse buy a new monitor, definitely going to keep pondering the scenarios. Appreciate the feedback though.
  12. Not sure if it has been mentioned, but the RB Mirage 2000 is on sale on Steam, 25% off. None of the other RB planes are on sale. Slip up or good news?
  13. I saw some 32" 4K OLED screens, like the Odyssey G8. That's a whack o' cash. I'm willing to spend, but that might be out of my snack bracket. About $1600Cdn. with the tax. That's a chunk.
  14. Morning, I guess performance is the concern with 4k. I have a 3700X/64RAM/4070. I get solid FPS at 2K on my 27", and I tend to fly small SP missions, but wasn't sure what the loss would be. I have a very nice 27" monitor and if I go to 32" I don't want to lose the eye candy. And to answer KKSnowbear, I tend to sit pretty close.
  15. My question is: Staying at 1440p but going from 27" to 32". Is the picture still very good or will giant visible pixels reach out and slap me? I'm all about the eye candy. It must be very sweet. Thank you.
  16. Bummer the FC3 Mig-15 isn't on sale, I would have bought it. Oh well.
  17. Pour me a drink first, you handsome devil.
  18. Read the install info and nearly had a mental breakdown. Maybe this will get into an update at one point.
  19. Took the Mi-8 out to see what was what and go more inconsistencies. A 10% drop here, a 30% drop there, and then a 10% drop where the 30% drop was before, and so on and so forth. Only sure of two things: The Mi-8 is awesome and the SA map is gorgeous.
  20. The only thing I'm noticing with FPS hits that is consistent are the inconsistencies. This time over the mainland, up and down in the altitude, valleys and peaks and very low level. I get a 10% hit going going west, turn around and I get a 30% hit over the same place going east. Most planes drop 10% at treetop then the Phantom drops 30% and then another plane that dropped 10% before now drops 30% and then the Phantom drops almost nothing at all at very! low level. Though the Phantom still tends to get hit the hardest. It's like rolling the dice.
  21. But as posted, I was only getting the FPS hit on the SA map with the Phantom. I lost 10% with the Hornet or Eagle, but 30% to 50% with the Phantom. I'll fart around a bit more and see what's what.
  22. Not really. I can count the A2A missiles I've fired in the Phantom. I'm all about the A2G. But if you have a recommendation, I'm happy to hear it.
  23. Just did another bunch of runs, touch and go at Mount Pleasant, bop over to Stanley, all kinds of altitudes, then rooftop over Stanley, and the only consistent thing I noticed is the the Phantom hurts the most. FPS hits between 30% and 50% over the same spot on different flights. In the F-18, it's almost always a 10% hit at most, once I got about a 30% drop over Stanley, tore past, went up, went down, turned around, came down, and got a 10% hit in the exact same place and altitude over Stanley except this time I was going the other direction. The Phantom is the only consistent FPS killed with me. I'll try some more on the mainland. What a gorgeous map!
  24. Just did a series of completely unscientific tests over Stanley and only got a frame drop of 50% in the Phantom, and not even every flight in the Phantom. F-14, F15E, F-16, F-18, maybe a 10% drop here and there between the clouds and the dirt. And then I fly the Phantom and get the same 10% drop in the exact same place I got the 50% drop several flights back. Fortunetaly this is an enjoyable task for an early Sunday morning with my coffee and I'll try it some more.
