  1. Isn't it great when we get to fly exactly what we want to fly? Gotta love DCS for bringing all these dream machines into our hands.
  2. While the plane has been unattended for a while, and definitely needs some love, it's still a great module as is. Big, fat, and fast, with that exceptionally groovy radar for A2G targeting and TFR. It's a beast! I understand your frustration, and I share it to a degree, but as long as I can fly an F-15E, I will fly an F-15E. I want my flying fun and the SE is a lot of fun.
  3. Odds are they will say Steam is its own animal, but I'll ask. Thank you.
  4. If I have all the FC3 planes, but bought them individually on Steam, not as the FC3 package, can I still use the upgrade option? Thank you.
  5. I am all about that CH-47. Gonna be fun.
  6. Good question. Obviously you can do these things a civvy sim, but I much prefer to fly in DCS. Everything feels better, tighter, more well put together. And having aircraft that are centered on the flying and not the fighting brings a nice new focus to the sim. And if there is some AAA chasing you along the way, so be it.
  7. "Jonesing" is what a smoker does on a long haul flight just waiting, dreaming, suffering, anticipating that angelic inhalation of toxins upon landing and exiting the aircraft. I'm big on the Chinook - and the C-130 - because it's a big fat flyer where you're really concentrating on the flying as opposed to weapons management. I spend half of my DCS time just flying for fun, no "Kaboom!", so I like the idea of having a few modules, especially larger ones, where the whole experience is just the flying.
  8. I'm jonesing for my Chinook. Along with the C-130 it' my most anticipated model by far. I'd trade my Phantom for either in a heartbeat.
  9. This is what I was getting intermittently in the Harrier. Seems a lot like what you're getting.
  10. I know there are issues now with the mirrors in several planes. And one of the bug testers asked me to send some data to get looked at. So they are dealing with it. I'm sure it will get worked out.
  11. Aren't we due for another video right about now?
  12. The radar works. My patience has been made drastically more patient.
  13. It's a great map. Very unlike the Middle East maps. Glaciers and mountains and fjords. Great fun to fly in. Has a really good feel to it.
  14. Been sending a fair bit of info to a bug tester about this. They are definitely looking into it.
  15. Amen! I had a flight last night from up high, the lighting was spot on, and I admit it looked pretty sweet. Still looking forward to updates of course, but it was the nicest flight I've had on that map so far.
  16. A solution? Just leave the existing thread open for all and have a "no discussion" heading on it if required, as many other threads currently have, and let people post and read the news where people have always posted and read the news. But no. Can't possibly have that now, can we?
  17. Seems he's just saying "It's my ball and I'm going home". That's ridiculous. Lots of people posted news in that thread, not just SD. And many many more people read that news and enjoyed the thread. Why does one person have the right to close a thread that so many contributed to and enjoyed? And if a new thread is started and people contribute and it gets a readership, will he come right back and open the old one up again to overshadow the new thread, which will then probably die... and then maybe he decides to close it again a month or two later when he's not in the mood again and not let anyone contribute or read the news anymore? It really is pretty silly.
  18. It was an established and well read thread that everyone knew about and many people participated in posting news. Why should one person get to have it removed? And yes, I am complaining. It's ridiculous that one person can have a popular thread with a large readership and participation removed.
  19. The thread that posted news, where each post had to be cleared by the mods, had many contributors. And I'm sure it happened to many people, not just me, that they submitted posts that had news in them, but then another person's post with the same news was put up. Meaning that often as not, several people submitted the same news and only one post was chosen. That's fine, of course. But it means that Silver Dragon, in no way whatsoever, kept that thread running. He might have often just been first to submit the news, perhaps by just a few minutes, before others submitted the exact same news. And quite often other members had three of four or more posts in a row with news in them. That was not his thread. It was everyone's thread. And many people including myself enjoyed seeing it. And that idea that he "needed a break" and therefore thinks everyone else should lose the opportunity to either submit and/or read the news is ridiculous to the point of being childish.
  20. @BIGNEWY Can we have that thread back, please? Many people, including myself, posted news in that thread and many more enjoyed reading it. I checked that thread every time I came to the site. Does that thread not belong to the community?
  21. Yes, please bring it back. The thread belongs to the community, and many in the community posted news there, not just Silver Dragon. Not by a long shot. It's borderline ridiculous that he can have thread removed. There are many still here who want to both post news and see the news. Please restore the thread.
  22. But several people posted news in that thread. I've posted news there. Why does Silver Dragon get to close the thread?
  23. Normandy is great for low and slow. The scenery is pure Haagen-Dazs. Delicious! Though the context of the map might not be what you want. Syria is the gold standard. It's just fantastic. Better for modern ops.
  24. Egg-xactly! With the quality of maps like the SA and Kola maps, not to mention Syria, the bar has been set pretty high. And that's great. That's why I can't see the Afghan map, specifically the first HD section, staying as it is. It's unthinkable that it will not be improved. I'm sure it will be brought up to standard.
  25. Agreed. It will see some texture updates for sure. Hope we get some night lighting on the big airbases. At least as an option. Need that eye candy.
