  1. ...yeah, some of that is very reasonable and would be very nice. But I will reiterate that this is a very good map. The more I fly it the more I like it. Get the lighting and the weather right, fly up in the mountains, and it's gorgeous! First class flightsim eye candy.
  2. if you don't mind I'll add my road anomaly here. Might need to be a damn under this road. Near Dukan.
  3. I just checked the weather in Antarctica and it's colder where I am. I understand that some people don't use the ME, but it's also reasonable to say they should at least know how to plop a plane onto a map, add some weather, and make a basic flight. It's hard to underestimate its importance to the sim.
  4. I often is.
  5. The civvy sim has a nice option where you can hit a momentary button/switch and your cockpit view holds to the end of the nearest runway. Makes turns to landing much smoother and more scenic. This would be great for folks without TrackIR or VR. That's it. Thank you.

  6. Those are the same people who have probably never heard of beer. I don't see how anyone could be a DCS flyer for more than a few weeks and not get into the ME at least a little bit. Pick your map, your plane, some weather, plop a ZSU-23 on the ground, and within 60 seconds you have a mission. Or just set up free flights or takeoff and landing practice. It's great stuff and super easy. Flying DCS and never using the ME is like living by a lake and never going for a swim.
  7. Beauty! Thank you.
  8. Glad I upped my RAM to 64GB. My 12GB VRAM still handles things well enough. But the 1TB+ install size... oy vey! What a beast of a sim.
  9. Hope so. Just took a quick Afghan flight and it's definitely lesser than the Iraq map. But if the Iraq tech is brought over to the Afghan map it will be great. Bring this tech to the NTTR and I'll throw my money at ED with eager and reckless abandon.
  10. Hopefully the Afghan team will knock on the Iraq team's door and asks to borrow a cup of map tech. And you're right, I'm sure the Afghan map will get brought up a notch, but it might not be soon.
  11. Had the exact same worry about the Iraq map just being Afghanistan 2.0. (Meh! 2.0) But the mountains looked so good in the Iraq map videos I got it and I really like it. The Iraq map, as you said, is way better. I noticed it right away and my whole first flight was fun and looked great. And those mountains...
  12. Hope the Afghan map team get a visit and some pointers from the Iraq map team.
  13. I'll have to play with it a bit more, but I found the night lighting in Baghdad to be... uneventful and weakly lit. Then again, depending on the date, maybe you didn't want your lights on. Baghdad Int. is a kinda bleah! and really melds into the background, but it looks like that in real life, so I guess that's that. Personal preference, but, day or night, I like the larger airfields to have more of a "Look at me! I'm an airport!" aspect to them. But that's just me. Looking forward taking a Chinook through the hills. That should be good fun.
  14. That's a tough one. Maybe Kola for the moment. Love the look and feel of it. The SA, NTTR, and PG are favourites as well. I just find them enjoyable maps to fly on. Do you have a few favourites?
  15. Just got it, installed it, and had a nice long flight. First impressions matter and my first impression, within about ten-seconds, was I like it. The terrain looks great and the map has a nice feel to it. Some small parts of the terrain look meh!, some larger parts look good, and a lot of the map looks very good. Up in the mountains is first rate. Really well done. The "3D terrain" with small elevations on some of the flat parts looks terrific. I'm guessing the south part of the map, when it arrives, will be gorgeous! The Afghan map leaves me cold, but this Iraq map is solid! Still have to do a night flight and check out the effects, but I really like this map.
  16. That was interesting.
  17. Beauty! Gonna grab me a new map to fly on tonight.
  18. Hopefully sometime today. I don't want to have to change my signature.
  19. Still waiting for the Steam discount for the Iraq map to kick in. tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick...
  20. Good stuff. Looking forward to getting it tonight.
  21. Thank you. This happened before and it was just a few hours.
  22. Maybe it comes with a case of beer. Still waiting for the discount to kick in on Steam.
  23. One of the benefits of Steam - easy payments. I load up my Steam wallet, the money sits there snug as a bug in a rug, and when I want something, like the Iraq map - which I will buy today after they fix the price and apply the discount - I just hit "add to cart" and it's done.
  24. Yeah, this has happened before. Someone forgot to push a button or something and it was fixed in a few hours.
  25. Listed at $95 Cdn on Steam Canada. ($67US). Is this the no-discount price?
