A good rant is its own reward.

Yeah, but it's still people on both sides of the transaction and sometimes you pick up good vibes, like you do with Heatblur or India Fox Techo, or you get something on the other side of the fence like with, well... the dev we are discussing in this thread. As far as good vibes morphing into trust, that's up to the individual. But I don't think it's unreasonable to have a certain amount of trust even in an online transaction.

No it certainly does not make you a hater. It makes you a customer, because only buyers have the option to answer that question. I am a huge fan of the F-15E, but I amended my initial positive review and made it a negative review based on the fact that the updates stopped and there is no guarantee they will start again. There is also no guarantee that a resolution to the issue will ever be achieved and the module could suffer as a result. So as great as the plane is, I would caution anyone before buying it. The customer has a right to know what's going on. Unfortunately that is not the case unless the customer goes digging. So as far as Steam goes, negative reviews are the proper way to caution potential buyers to inform themselves.

I don't see that the word "hate" must play so heavily. If the situation exists, and it does, that the plane could see no further updates and could even suffer a breakdown of sorts that leads to confusion over whether it can or will be fixed, then it's fair that buyers be made aware. The thing with the radar was evidence of that. At fist we didn't know if it would be fixed at all, then we get a mod, then we get a fix. Not to mention the plane being refunded by ED. That's hardly business as usual. As stated, I'm a big fan of the module, but the idea that "everyone knows what's going on" is perhaps not as true as some might think it is. There is not a word of it in the Steam or ED sales pages. And this thread is evidence that the confusion is ongoing.

I'm a big fan of the F-15E. That said, it's not the "haters" who are responsible for any of this - it's ED and RB. But if you can show that the public at large is even 0.1% responsible for the present situation, I'm willing to listen.
-
Well not exactly. On Steam, for example, the only notice as to the status, so to speak, of the F-15E is the and "Mostly Negative" rating beside the product. The reviews from the purchasers are where the info is. There isn't a single word from Steam, the devs, or ED as to the product's status. And I believe the same situation exists on this site on the e-shop page. As forum denizens, we know what's going on. Someone new or someone who does not frequent the forums gets zero info from those on high.

Same reason you did.

Keeping it. I don't like the situation but I love the plane.

Heavy Rain is truely horrifying now (2.9.6)
Beirut replied to VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants's topic in Clouds & Weather System
I just noticed the new light rain presets the other day and they're great. They look fantastic! That there is some sashaying weather pulchritude. -
Why? If you don't enjoy the thread, don't participate the thread.

Often as not I use the free trials to reaffirm a non-purchase. Lots of people love the Mirage 2000, for example, and maybe it is a great module, but it leaves me cold. But I try it out every six-months, and then notice that I only flew it for an hour out of the two-weeks, and that means I'm right in not buying it. So I use my dolleri-doos for a different module.
-
Trial fan boy here. Love the trials, keep the trials, the trials are great. I look forward to the six-month waiting period coming around and getting to try a plane again and see if I am still on the fence or if I want to buy it. I have the Mig-21 up for trial again and I'll fly it around for (another) two-weeks and see what's what. There is no reason to end the free trials and every reason to keep them.

I believe you meant to say "Jim Beam", good sir.

Thanks for the response. I haven't bought any DCS campaigns yet, but this does look interesting. Always curious what the pros can do with the ME.

This looks very well done, but is it hardcore only, or can a "casual flyer" find enough to do with it to make it enjoyable? Also, do you have to complete Mission 1 to try Mission 2 and so on, or can you pick and choose? Thank you.
-
And now everything works. And you do this..... for a hobby? What a strange and wonderful person you are. Thank you for all the help. Much appreciated!

Really? I'm running ST not MT because the icons borked itself? That's kind of funny actually. I'll check. Thanks.

Oh, you're going to love this... I delete the F-86 on Steam. I also delete a mod "RCAF cockpit gray". (I didn't do that before because you didn't tell me to and because I'm just not that bright.) I reinstall, no mod, and I have a regular mirror. I load the mod, and the mirror goes back to the blue colour with "mirror" written backwards on it. I do this a few times - yes mod, no mod - and it would seem the mod is the culprit. Then I load the Harrier - no F-86 cockpit mod installed - and the mirrors are still borked. Then I go back to the F-86 - still no cockpit mod - and now they are borked again, but this time no blue colour with "mirror" written backwards - just borked in the same way many other mirrors are, a kind of low poly B&W shmush. So they worked for a few minutes and now they don't. I hope you get paid a lot for this.
-
Okay. I'll let you know. Just FYI, the mirror bug exists with several planes. Harrier, Hornet, and more. if it's of use, I'll burn through them all later and let you know which.

DCS might be the side chick, but having ORBX expand to DCS is a good omen. And having growing devs like Heatblur expand alongside DCS development, but still actively engaged with DCS shows that DCS has serious players involved. Regardless of the bad things going on with RB, there are good things going on with other devs.
