Project 10 - DCS: A-10C Warthog Promo!
power5 replied to Glowing_Amraam's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Pretty amazing machine for $1300. Love the dual hot swap bays. Not sure how well the turbo boost works but overclocking is usually much trickier on manufactured PCs. Resolution is the determining factor for fps performance. That system is the same as GA so yes it should do great. -
I would expect the bomb reaches terminal velocity by the time it has free fallen for 5000 feet.
-
Have been trying to google the active fighter jets around the world so we know which ones we could likely choose from. I would love older jets like the EE Lightning, Mirage, F5, F4, Mig 27, su24, and a ton of other cold war era jets. Not sure which are still in service and would be looking for a simulator. Pretty sure all the mirage flying have capable pilots.

With a non FFB stick you have to release trim when stable in your attitude, then recenter stick and rudder very very quickly. Note that you will probably need to still recenter the stick as it will probably buck a bit as you are not fast enough on the recenter. As for the rudders, make sure you did not let up on the brake when setting the axis. I had a slight bit of pressure on my toe brakes and when I went to assign the first time, I lifted and that was the input. Or maybe that was IL2. Not sure. Last time I reinstalled I did not setup the toe brakes and just use the KB as its not that important really.

Yeah, I guess it could be nice to have physics on a thread, however, for it to work, I assume all objects would need to be destructable and I have no idea what that entails for modeling. I would love to see a truck backflip if rocket hits the front, and front flip for rear hits, and sideways for side hits. Much better than just a instant pile of flaming rubble. But bad smoke and flat water and no heat blur will look fake too. I dont mind scripted explosions so much. I am not going to land and watch my target explode and the pieces bounce around. :) Even just 4 different explosions for each vehicle would be much nicer than what there is now. It is not super important to me though. I am glad for the level of destruction in my own vehicle. Not just a few shots and boom, start over. You can actually be damaged to a state where you can no longer fly home, but still try to evacuate the hostile area and hopefully land the A/C. Having parts explode into the air would be much nicer than just some smokey fireball though.

SPI is the target. SOI is the device used to target the target. I assume.

Old, and probably everyone else has seen. Anyone know what happened to the pilot and the plane? Was it able to come to a complete stop? Ok, I am the only one who can not figure out the embed

yeah, a lot lighter without wings and tail and engines for sure. :megalol:

More than happy to fly a different A2G. Unless the skies are filled with planes like IL2 online community, I think it will be boring flying around in circles looking for bandits. So hard to spot a/c on a computer screen I think. I have trouble finding my helo when I jump to F2 view from a bandit or wingman sometimes if he is not very close. -
Nice photos. Where do I download those F16 skins?

There is no object physics in DCS I don't think. Not like you are used to seeing in FPS games today. Explosions are scripted but may sometimes seem to have physics. This is one reason the trucks do not roll to a stop I think. Though I guess that could be scripted as well. This is all my assumptions from playing BS, no inside info.

Stick is very expensive and has no pedals or FFB. There is a thread about it in the input section. The fastest quad or six core. Not sure if the new engine will make that much use of all cores, but the 9950 was not that great. Either grab an AMD thuban 6 core, or an i7 quad and you will need new ram since both are DDR3 CPUs. Win 7 is better than vista not sure about performance increase in games though. -

Yeah, that lightning is an awesome jet. Cant carry weapons for shit, but damn nice looking and performing. Just watched some videos and read up on it. I will take a sim with it for sure. Sorties would be over pretty quick though unless it can rearm in mid air. -

Sweet, how do you know when to release? Pretty sure the pip does not know how to figure that one out. Would be seat of the pants like "hitting a womp rat with my old T-16 back home." -

What is that silver plane? Looks like a su-22 but looks different. Su-22 has a straight fueselage and the silver one has a buldge. Wing is smooth as well. Looks like the silver plane has two vertical engines in the back. -
What is the height of the flight stick from the floor?

Cluster bomb for the easy win. Though probably dangerous to try and lob one in the air and try to beat it to the target area. Has anyone tried a back flip bomb delivery in game? Embarrassed that I never thought to try to do that in any flight sim. -

Pfft, GA couldn't hit the formation of 2 BS at sea level with his huge GAU spewing hundreds of rounds from 6 o clock high. :) They were moving though and the GAU has no splash area on impact. Were you going to try the loop de loop bomb drop from the other thread? Will be funny when you end up bombing yourself... :P :joystick: :D -

LOL But they fixed that. Told the pilots to stop flying such close formation when trying to take down "VIPER". You cant fix an ugly plane. -
Either OC the CPU or upgrade. Sims require more CPU than GPU like most arcade still FPS games. The game engine is constantly making flight model calculations. The old AMD did not OC very easily so you will want to upgrade. Not sure if your mobo is s939 or AM2 socket. If its s939, you will need a new mobo, ram, and CPU. If its a am2, you could get away with a newer AM2 chip. I think the best you can put in an older am2 is only a first gen phenom quad.

small steady linputs. My G940 curves have not been touched. Helicopters do not react like fixed wing, they are much slower to respond to inputs. Are you holding trim and do you have the three AP buttons engaged?

Good lord is the f4 really that big? F14 had better things to do than getting pretty paintjobs and writing "marry me" in smoke letters or whatever else the BA do. :P back to the topic now since the f14 has no chance of getting a sim. -

Can you post a link to a TRAILER that shows how the game is played? He has mentioned that follow up movies will detail how the game works. -

Who puts a tail between wing and elevator seriously? :P
