Depends on how well you demonstrate your abilities. In this fantasy world the question is posed in, if you perform with ace skills, I am sure "they" would see the usefulness in your abilities and resourcefullness and sign you up for a special black ops assignment that you are uniquely qualified for. At least that is how the movie plot usually progresses. There are no consequences in fantasy land. :pilotfly:

I had a cyborg X before my g940. Hope yours lasts longer than mine <1 year. Button 2 lost its spring back feel. Twist started going haywire making the BS uncontrollable. I guess I could have deactivated that axis in the controls, but never thought of that. Viper, I see the commands, but which are for the panels? Or is it just trial and error to find the right views which give the proper view of the panels and switches I need?

Wasnt mig25 a recon bomber? I would love to see DCS with 15 flyables, but I will be a bit old by then at the current speed. Not sure how long IL2 took, and not sure how accurate their FMs are, but it is enjoyable to jump into many different planes.

@Rhen I was not aware of just how unrealistic the flight modeling was in the sim. Amazing that they could bill this as a military grade simulator and be so far off on how the aircraft would react in real flight. I have been in many commercial airlines and when they take off and bank for landings sometimes they pull harder than normal. not sure what that is in G forces, but at least 2g would be my guess. Now I know that is no where near A10 limits, but the feeling of flight is there and most have experienced this. Does the A10 have AP? If so, nail the throttle and get off the ground and hit the button. :) I have not flown a jet before, but I understand g forces. Pretty sure I can figure out what will happen when I push the stick left and pull back. Or when I move the throttle levers forward.

I did not know there were views for the cockpit panels? Where is that in the controls list?

That rain is a nice effect, but its such a short loop. Either needs to be completely random, or a much much longer loop.

I know I used to jump when I was shot by anything. I am trying to think if I jump anymore when shot. Is this something I can turn up? From all reports I read on the net, getting shot is very loud even with headphones on. I have not messed with the sound config at all yet. Do you edit the files the same as the other config.ini files? Open in notepad and edit and save?

I used a twist grip microsoft joystick for a while till it went bad. Then used a Saitek Cyborg and liked it better, till it went bad. Then stepped up to a logitech g940. So much nicer than the stick only configurations to me. Next I want TrackIR5 and then a touchbuddy setup. Not sure how touch buddy works with the dials though. Flying is the hardest part of this learning curve. Either use the flight director button (far right blue AP button) or use the trimmer any time you change A/C attitude. Always fly with the bank, pitch, heading AP buttons on and the alt hold if you want to stay at a certain level. Not sure why these are even buttons since I find it impossible to fly the chopper with them off. There is a Keyboard shortcut tool tip mod. This helps when you put the mouse over a switch in the cockpit, it tells you the KB shortcut. I also got a Keyboard layout with all the shortcuts on the corresponding keys. This paper is very nice to have next to my monitor for quick checks. No idea where I found it on this site though. Someone has it someplace. Found one. Cant view it at work though http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o197/SkidMARK11/BlackShark_KeyboardLayout.jpg&imgrefurl=http://s120.photobucket.com/albums/o197/SkidMARK11/%3Faction%3Dview%26current%3DBlackShark_KeyboardLayout.jpg&usg=__HXOpgTpr6uzpI0FetSpNP6lqedc=&h=312&w=1023&sz=96&hl=en&start=20&zoom=0&tbnid=wo6L7FmB6R347M:&tbnh=46&tbnw=150&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dblack%2Bshark%2Bkeyboard%2Blayout%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dsafari%26sa%3DN%26rls%3Den%26biw%3D1042%26bih%3D714%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=657&vpy=389&dur=1631&hovh=46&hovw=150&tx=76&ty=40&ei=_l59TPfsA8m_nAe07NGWCw&oei=kF59TPTiBIKcnweZ9cn3AQ&esq=17&page=2&ndsp=20&ved=1t:429,r:18,s:20

How thick are those DCS versions? Mine is about 3" thick since I printed it home and its only 1 sided pages. -
ED SIMS SCREENSHOT AND VIDEO THREAD!!!! (NO USER MODS OR COMMENT)

Sweet group shots. Are those grey jets tornados or mig23? Looks like twin engine so guessing tornado. -
real HD black shark cockpit....

My final reason to get trackIR. -
A2A is very difficult. I have taken down a cobra in an online mission from about 7km using the a2a button. You have to be far enough away so that you can slew the shkval and lock the target. Too close and the target is almost impossible to get the target box on it. Use the Head on button so the vihkr will blow up if its close instead of a direct hit. I am pretty sure the only missile pod you have on your chopper is the vihkrs. Everything else is a dumb weapon. Only downside to BS is the lack of missions both online and off. The online servers seem to be limited to a few populated ones and almost always seems to be the same mission.

Does this fly like a eurofighter?

Nah, haven't played IL-2 in a while. Used to only have a twist stick, so maybe I will fire it up again with my g940. -

Yeah, I would feel like the kid on the playground that doesn't get picked to play kickball. 1 Seater, unless the AI is the best ever. IL2 was not so fun jumping around the bomber and having the AP change direction. I am not suggesting ED go in the cold war direction. I just think it would be great to get an entertainment sim with that era of aviation. I would say one of jet ages largest growths. -
Yeah, most Sims are not GPU bound, but CPU bound. That said, I hope they have improved their engine to utilize more cores better in DCSW. My CPU is going as fast as it can right now. Just an old e4300 at 3.4ghz. I do want to upgrade to a thuban. Looks like they are capable of 3.8ghz on air and you have 6 cores, so cool. Not sure it would help, but how about CCCleaner? Maybe a reinstall of BS as well.

The cold war had no sims because the tech was just not there. Then end had a couple, but the best part in the earlier years didn't. There were just so many planes being created and used. Now its all F15/F16/F18 practically on both sides. I think a good sim based in the cold war would be great. Not as in depth as the DCS series of course. A step down with more aircraft. Basically LOMAC with cold war planes. That would make me happy. Hopefully JetThunder can do this. Then I still have DCSW and BS for the full on sim aspect. -
If it was 3 weeks out, I think we would have heard something. Would be awesome though.

Not doubting new jets are better. Of course they are. They are all 20 mile engagements though. Of course the F14 started that crap I guess :) I dunno, I like the look of older jets better. F4, F111, F14, A4, A6, Mirage, Mig 21, F5, Delta Dart, basically anything from the cold war are my favorite jets. -

JT looks pretty decent for a garage sim. Only downfall is the non clickable cockpit. But, I would love some mirage, A4, and harrier action and will most likely pick it up whenever they finish it. The mirage and A4 are some of my first jet love affairs from hollywood. Then the intruder and F14 of course. I really have no desire for a modern simulator I guess. None of the newer jets have as much character. Or I am just getting to that age where, "they don't make em like they used to." -
Kh-25 premature detonations and other notes
power5 replied to Speed's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Am I missing something? How are you flying a Kh-25? Don't drink and post. This is a vihkr, not a chopper. Duh. Not sure what I was thinking. -
a 50" has far far far fewer pixles than a 4 monitor setup. As stated anything that is not a 30" monitor will be 1920x1080 when full HD. You will get a serious FPS speed bump when switching from 4 monitors to 1. The pit will probably look life sized to you on that screen.

I was kidding. :) Forgot the smiley. Its not just about hiding though, the cannon draws attention and the pilot has no idea a jet is around. I see no point in working with FC2. I guess its nice to have something besides Player controlled Ka-50 right now though. The only time I even see a jet besides an A10 or Su25 is when I am in F2 camera mode. I am not sure why ED did not model a few planes instead of using LO and worrying about Ubi. They have an game engine, the plane modeling is relatively easy and could probably be knocked out in a month for each plane. No idea what goes into a FM though or how that affects the plane model.

Not if he is firing his cannon. Damn, I can hear that a few km away in my BS.

I have patched to 1.02. Can anyone tell me how to get some training on the arbris and other navigation techniques? Also, now that I am flying online, I would also need some training on the DataLink thingy.
