Did you hear this message before making your attempt: "Good. Both engines are off. Now steer towards the Emergency Divert Airfield identified in the briefing and attempt to land on the runway. I have cleared your landing attempt with the local authorities. The Hard Deck Restriction is terminated. If you can't manage a safe landing, you are authorized to eject. Good luck!" There is a trigger that will indicate if you are outside the landing zone (beyond the runway) that fires if the above message is heard.
-
The game engine can take some time to detect the trigger presses so you should hold down the release button until you hear "2 Away". If it's done too quickly the game engine won't register the press so the mission coding won't know if you dropped successfully or not. Here is the link with some example instructions on how to edit your logbook.

No the tanker spawns when you takeoff however there have been reported issues with AI not following programmed speed settings so we suspect that may be why the tanker is behind you at the RV point. We will do some testing and see if we can force the tanker to make the waypoint on time instead of using a speed setting.

Glad you got it sorted!

We did a test this morning and it appears to be a game engine bug likely introduced in a recent patch update. The downed aircrew don't make it to the LZ. They stop about half way to the waypoint. It certainly worked before in our testing so we can only assume something in the AI logic changed recently to cause the pilot not to make it all the way to the LZ waypoint. We think we can provide a workaround by spawning the downed pilot directly in the LZ which should then cause the comms triggers to fire and the mission to play as it was designed. We haven't tested TAC25 yet but we suspect it may have the same problem and TAC23 as well since it has similar logic. It's frustrating when AI logic changes with each update but we will try and make the missions more robust to AI changes.

DCS F-15C: The Georgian War Campaign
Sabre-TLA replied to baltic_dragon's topic in F-15C The Georgian War
Congrats Baltic! This looks to be a great campaign. You and your team have done another excellent job. Well done! -
Those units attack the choppers if you don't authenticate the downed pilot. This is similar to if he was compromised and the enemy setup a trap. Switch your radio to GUARD 243.00 Mhz once you hear the pilot has been shot down and authenticate him using the F10 menus when you hear he is at ARCO. If all the enemy close to the LZ are destroyed and you completed the authentication then it will be safe to move the choppers in.
-
Yes it certainly wasn't designed that way. Do a DCS Repair if you still have issues. You can compare your experience to these videos. It should still play similar:
-
You should ensure you QFE is set properly as you don't want to have less altitude than you think. I believe we had the pattern trigger coded to be removed after you are cleared for landing. Leaving the pattern early to follow the glideslope could put you in a mid-air with departing aircraft. You should still have sufficient distance to get down to the glideslope to make the landing once you are cleared. If the triggers are not acting as expected do a DCS Repair or upgrade your video card drivers. Some folks have reported that the triggers at times get messed up and those actions fixed them. We will check the triggers again and retest to see if any improvements can be made.

I believe we set all AI to excellent as we wanted them to exhibit the best behavior the game engine could offer. Recently ED announced they are doing more work on the AI to improve the G-force blackout effects to make them more realistic. That should help make the dogfighting easier but hopefully still keep it a challenge. You might try a wider merge distance and make the turn earlier so you can keep your speed up and get a deflection shot as they go by. How you handle the merge really dictates how the engagement goes. Too early you give him your tail, too late and then it's a challenge to get in a good position. Head on attacks are usually fatal but you might get lucky there too! It's an almost endless set of variables that you can apply at the merge and each can cause a different experience with how the engagement unfolds.
-
The AI can sometimes do silly things though ED is working to improve it. However, you only have to eliminate targets near the pick-up zone or threatening (heading to) the pickup zone. I recommend scanning the area and then check the roadways heading to the zone. Once you think it's safe then you can send in the choppers for the pickup.

F-5E ACM Campaign - First mission and first impression.
Sabre-TLA replied to Sydy's topic in F-5E Aggressors ACM Campaign
Good job! The more you practice the better you get (usually) :smilewink: -
We have had some success tasking one of the wingman to engage Air Defenses. The other option is to keep them out of the AO (hold them at a point far enough away) until you take out the SA-8s from a low altitude yourself. Normally you would call in a SEAD strike but it is possible for you to lock them up on the TGP (once found) and take them out with Mavs.

F-5E ACM Campaign - First mission and first impression.
Sabre-TLA replied to Sydy's topic in F-5E Aggressors ACM Campaign
VR should help with SA. What we found worked was anticipating where the bandit is headed (so you can get your nose in front for a deflection shot) or making your turn at the merge early so you can get a tail shot as they go by. Neither of which are easy but if you stick with it you will find a technique that works for you. -
You can edit the "displayName" values so you can keep your different instances sorted. This won't be a problem once the versions are merged.

TAC17 - Deep Interdiction Tasking Special Forces
Sabre-TLA replied to jed40's topic in A-10C TTQ Campaign
WhiteHorse 2-3 is the name of the SOF Recon team. Darknight is the JTAC embedded in the team you need to contact. So when you reach EDSEL contact Darknight via the JTAC Function Key menu and he will give you the target coordinates. Sorry that wasn't clear. We will check the briefing text and see if we can make the distinction between the team and the JTAC clearer. -
No. The radio voice messages will only play if you are tuned to the frequency so you won't miss anything.
-
Thanks! Glad you are enjoying it. Not sure why you are not hearing the other triggers when you do the missed approach. Ensure you stay on a heading of 120 and climb to angels 7. Try a DCS Repair or update your video card drivers as some folks have reported that that has corrected triggers issues for them. Email us a mapleflagmissions@gmail.com if you continue to have issues. You can compare your flight to Recon Stewart's attempt to see how it should play out:
-
They do pose a threat to your flight but they are on the opposite side of the hill so likely won't engage the helos as they do their ingress and egress. The biggest challenge is the number of units chasing after the downed pilot and trying to spoil the extraction.
-
That's great! Good job.

They appear if you failed to authenticate the downed pilot. This is to simulate an enemy trap. Check the F10 menu for the authentication commands. There will be some back and forth between you and the downed pilot so you need to ensure you are transmitting over Guard 243.0 Mhz. The downed pilot should respond to each "Alpha Check" and the responses should match those in the CSAR instructions briefing page. When you have the final result then you can be confident the downed pilot has not been compromised. Then send the helos in for pickup but keep an eye on the LZ as there maybe other enemy racing to get to the LZ too to ruin the pickup. This is one of the more challenging missions so we recommend trying the practice mission first until you are confident with the mission flow.

A user recently reported a problem with one of the early missions in the campaign. If you happen to hit a Q minus condition during the mission and then exit the mission before landing and shutting down then the mission goals will think you completed the mission and the campaign will progress to the next mission. We have submitted a fix to ED and hopefully it will get released in the next update for both DCS World and DCS World OpenBeta. Please email us at mapleflagmissions@gmail.com if you have any other related issues. Thanks.
