Extra 330 SC for DCS EFM
YSIAD_RIP replied to JazAero's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
Extra 330 with EFM - WOW - Exciting Project! I am happy for your team! Today, I started following this thread and am excited about what the Extra 330 will bring to DCS. I was just playing with the Christen Eagle II last night and can't wait to see the differences between it and the Extra 330. I am so impressed by the results of projects like yours. I also follow the MB-339, and A4 Skyhawk Community Mod, but I am adding you to my list. With all the sad news going on in the world right now, projects like yours give all of us something to look forward too! -
Re: Most Appropriate Tablet Screen Size Hi GunSlingerAUS, Thanks for using DCS UFC - the more of us that use it, the more cool updates we will get. Re: Tablet Screen Size - It all depends on how much space you have in your "Cockpit." -7"- 8" and above- I find 7," and 8" tablets like the Nexus 7 and Samsung Tab E are perfect for MFD, UFC, CDU and IPC, etc.. I have older eyes now, and that size is ideal for entering numbers and clicking small buttons. You will need Android 4.1 or better. -5" and below - I recently discovered that an Old Samsung Note3 is the perfect size for the Warning Panel of the F-14 and the other modules. You will need Android 4.1 or better. If you want to use the free DCS AoA Indexer app, you can easily use any old Android phone as long as you can update the ROM to Android 7 or higher. (https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=267595) Cheers. JFF.

Cool, works as advertised. Thank you.

Keep the updates coming - Thanks! Hiromachi, when I read a "new" update on the Leatherneck website about the MiG-21 future update path, I bought it even though I knew it was probably going to take a few months or a year. I hope that the new hype that shows like Fighter Pilot podcast create and your own social media MiG-21 news will result in a massive bump in sales of the MiG. Especially for people like myself that focused on American Planes for too long! Cheers and Keep the updates coming! JJF>

Sunday Afternoon Spins for Warbirds! 100% - Sunday Afternoon Spins for Warbirds are a significant change of pace. I just spent my Sunday afternoon and, the better part of the evening, configuring the Polikarpov I-16. Binding the HOTAS and Flight Panel switches was a sweet rewarding pain. A WWII warbird can give you a feeling of accomplishment by just completing a radial engine cold start. Even simple things like landing gear are a coordinated ballet of levers and cranks. I had a laugh when I found out the landing lights on the I-16 were torches that are only available via the Missions Editor. (Thanks to CHUCKS GUIDE for that). Cheers JJF.

F-5E For sure - MB-339A for Free! Already some excellent advice and recommendations mentioned earlier in this thread. I just got back into DCS recently after being away from it for a few years. The F-5E was the first supersonic jet module I bought because of its flight model, modest weapons and avionics package. You really can't go wrong with it as long as you practice! Have you heard about the Aermacchi MB-339A? Since it is free, I would highly recommend adding the MB-339A to your virtual hangar. If you want an even simpler pure flight feeling with easy rockets and bombs, it is ready to go. Landing takeoff and taxi are rewarding. There is also an Airshow mission where you can do some formation flying practice. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=244476 Cheers JJF>

Sound MOD still working - So far After installing the latest May 20 DCS Open Beta update, I later copied the two Sound Rework V2.0 folders "mods" and "coremods" into the DCS World OpenBeta root. Sounds working and no issues with the module so far. Looks like the latest update on May 20 has some new restrictions on CORE MODS file changes - If you Like to make MODs, you may need to work with DCS to have them open up the SaveGames folder options a little more to avoid future potential pain. Check out this Thread - https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=274099 Cheers JJF>

Re: DCS World Patch Notes - Will ED be updating the official Patch Notes too? https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/news/changelog/openbeta/2.5.6.49314/ Looks like the MiG 21bis got some fixes in today - Here is the reference >> http://leatherneck-sim.com/2020/05/20/crouching-update/ :notify:

Crouching Eagle, Hidden Fishbed - LOL Thanks, Hiromachi - I noticed the stall characteristics make it back into the MiG 21 FM, just like the Bug tracker ticket promised in https://leatherneck-sim.mantishub.io/view.php?id=939. I had faith in this getting fixed and bought the MiG-21 on May 08 - so far, so good. "Baby Steps..... or Baby Stabs".... whatever it takes to get the job done! The next Larger Release sounds excellent, and I am sure it will repair the sad Purple Afterburner/Shortcircut Light Sabre effect for good measure. Good luck with getting the DCS Open Beta Change Log Updated. I noticed your Website is updated - Excellent! http://leatherneck-sim.com/2020/05/20/crouching-update/ Cheers. -
From April 19 to May 19: | AV-8B | MiG-21bis | MiG-19 Farmer | Combined Arms | I-16 | The Delay of Supercarrier was pure Evil GENIUS Marketing! If it had come out on time I probably would only have got the Harrier.

GOOD Looking Historical Plane with a Radial Engine! There is an interesting ED Forums Thread started by one of the Developers - Member name is " Plexus. " (Use Chrome and Google Translate): https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=133050 The I-16 is fun for what it is. It is a beautiful piece of code, the developer is not active, and no official updates since it was released into Early Access. However, Plexus has posted, in Russian, on the ED Forums Thread as recently as October 2019. Maybe this is a case of if it ain't broke then don't fix it - but if you read parts of the early thread, you can make your own conclusions. I just had to buy it for $20 to see what happens if/when it leaves Early Access. It really is fascinating comparing the evolution of these Warbirds from both sides. For some, DCS is turning into a personal Museum of Aviation History. Just for fun, I set up a Mission with three Christen Eagle II's and the I-16. It was more fun than I expected it to be and more fun than using a P51. Fun is Good.

X56 HOTAS - Flight Stick Spring MOD My Logitech X56 HOTAS was purchased recently: Out of the box, it is a good Flight Stick and feels OK, but the way it feels when centred via the included single-center spring is not ideal. I do not have access to a 3D printer, so I did a "MacGyver": Automobile hose clamp + zip tie = very smooth centring. (I did have to Re-Calibrate with the Logitech software after)

You are a DCS Saint! If you are ever in Toronto - I must get you a virtual Starbucks Coffee! Seriously, thanks for the thousands of hours you have spent over the years on all your guides. Cheers .

Looking Good. I am very happy to have the A-4E-C in my collection and I see 1.4.0 Beta 1 is looking good. Thanks for all your updates. 1.4.0 Beta 1 was a nice Birthday present for me. LOL.

Mr. pet333r: Very nice APP! Thank you for all your updates and fantastic progress since you started this thread. Yesterday, War Game GURU (Rod White) mentioned your DCS UFC App, and I finally made the purchase 2 hours later. I had ZERO problems getting DCS UFC working on all of my OLD Android Devices: Google Nexus 7, Samsung NOTE3, GalaxyS4 and Note9. BRAVO SIR - Well Done! I am looking forward to your future progress and updates.

Recommended HOTAS for about $200

The Duel Throttle on the "New 2018 X56" with the Grey Colour Way is pretty good once you remove some of that excess sticky grease inside. I just got my X56 two weeks ago, and the 2 Year Warranty it comes with does not hurt. Some YouTube videos take you through making the throttle move easier - Just do your research and save the grease you remove by depositing it onto one of the plastic HH shaped reinforcement spots inside of the base if you want to add some resistance later. Thrustmaster T16000 and TWC throttle are classics; you can't go wrong. I can only recommend the X56 if you can get it on sale or can apply some discount coupons at checkout within the Logitech Site. The X56 is BIG. If you have small hands, the Flight Stick on the X56 will require you to change grip to reach all the hat switches. Finally: If you like to tinker and play with the software, the X56 is cool and flexible. You can do a lot of things with buttons and software. I found some informative videos on how to use the silly slider switch on the X56/X55 Throttle as a speed brake for American and Russian Planes—worked For me! Enjoy the DCS Hobby, and enjoy your shopping / Research. Cheers. -
I am in the same situation - currently doing some MiG shopping and using the Free to Fly month for comparisons to the MiG-15 and MiG-19. It is fascinating to see the evolution of Russian Plane development over the years in comparing the planes. Regarding Issues: There is a Bugtracker link that the developer, Magnitude 3 LLC, has asked us to use to report problems. It looked promising mainly because there is a lot of recent activity in April. Here is the link for reference, as it may help you decide. https://leatherneck-sim.mantishub.io/my_view_page.php

The I-16 is pretty impressive for what it is, a labour of love from what looks like a One-Man-Development-Team. It reminds me of an overweight Christen Eagle II with BFG's. It felt like flying the most MODERN WWI BIPLANE NEVER created. I spent an hour strafing everything I could - let's just say bullet convergence was not a problem, but taking off does require patience and a lot of practice. Lol.

I just bought the AV-8B the other day too, all thanks to the previous two-day trial. I already knew it was fun to fly and came with a very lovely looking cockpit. I just got an X56 HOTAS and experimented by putting the Nozzle Angle Control Lever on one of the Duel Throttles, instead of using a rotary dial. All I can say is - I am glad I have the option - It felt natural, and more fun, using the second throttle to adjust the nozzles. No Regrets so far with the AV-8B - It looks like when Razbam puts development cycles into something, it is usually well worth the effort.

So Happy that I "REDISCOVERED" DCS World after being away from it for a few years. Nice to be back and see that the Eagle Dynamics Core Team is only getting better with age. I am looking forward to an exciting future.
