You do get what you pay for with Virpil and VKP, etc.. However, I did purchase a brand new X56 HOTAS ON SALE, Directly from Logitech, before wearing a mask became a fashion statement. Lol. There are plenty of reviews, videos and discussion on the X56. Here are some bullet points that are based on my experience. It is a great value if you can get it on sale or find one listed at an MSRP of USD 249.00 If you are comfortable making physical modifications, you can turn the HOTAS from an OK system to a surprisingly good one. If you have average or smaller hands, you will have trouble reaching all the buttons and hats on the stick. (make a thicker palm rest with clay, foam, 3D Printer, etc.. ) Out of the Box, the HOTAS Throttle can be too hard to move because of the special friction grease used inside. (Do a YouTube search on ) FYI: Save the grease by placing it on another part of the base away from the blades and wires. You will see a good spot once you take the throttle apart. I recommend the Spring Mod for the X56 Flight Stick. If you remove the single mainspring and replace it with 4, you get a stick that centers and feels more precise when moving away from the center. For any buttons that are hard to reach or feel when pressing, I got some SUGRU and moulded it onto the Trimmer Hat, Weapons Release and other buttons to get more depth and feel. Sugru can be removed with a knife and rag. The Slider on the throttle is misunderstood. It functions like a 2 position toggle switch. To use it properly as an Airbrake you must use the provided Logitech software and set it up with "Quantize Time" options. I did not want to use the software for Airbrakes so found out how to do it by editing a DCS module joystick Default.lua. Here is a link to User Files Downloads that gives examples for a few planes: X56 Speed Brake Slider - FA18, F16, A10C, F14, JF17, AV8B. I learned from that Mod and made similar fixes for all the other planes that I own. If I had the money, I would buy the premium HOTAS, but for now, I am much happier with my X56 when compared to the now-dead X52 that I got from Kajiji 5 years ago! If I charged myself for the time I took to research and complete these mods the stick would have cost 3 times more!

Since the Migration to the new Forum, I noticed that Only the first comments in the Downloads >> User Files show up even if there are more than 2 comments. If you create a comment it will show up but eventually get hidden again. I have provided specific examples. This is Regarding the Main Website: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/ Examples of User Files Mods that have more than 1 comment but no ability to navigate to them: 48 Comments - https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.c...files/3302845/ 15 Comments - https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.c...files/3312466/ 68 Comments - https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.c...files/3308547/ EDIT: As of Nov 4, I can now read comments in the Downloads for User Files! Thank you! I usually like to leave a comment of support when I download a file or read the comments to see what others are saying before I download.

It is encouraging to see the new FORUM User Interface Updates that keep coming. I just noticed the Previous and Next Page Navigation buttons now have Direction Arrows at the Top Right of the page. And now, new users will see proper icons for Upload Attachments, Toggle Advanced Editor and Add Smily at the Bottom Left of the page instead of the empty rectangles. Much less wasted space too! I realize there is a lot of work to do, and the important thing is to "keep rolling the ball forward." Thanks.

I agree, it is very hard to find everything in this new Format. I did edit my signature using tips from many of the previous posts. I managed to find and use the forums built in HELP function for the same thing so here is the official link: https://forums.eagle.ru/help?q=signature&btnSearch=&titleandtext=1&match=any#account_overview/account_signature_new

VIVID NORMANDY 2.0 by Barthek
YSIAD_RIP replied to Barthek's topic in Texture/Map Mods for DCS World
Hi Barthek, I appreciate the Caucasus Redone 2020 v1 Mod very much! Your Normandy Edition looks so refreshing and detailed. I would think MAESTR0 and Urga Media will have no concerns, especially since I believe this Mod could help get additional sales for the beautiful Normandy Map. Good luck. I already own Normandy and Syria, so this update will mean I fly in Normandy more often. Alternatively, if Urga Media really appreciates the MOD, they could eventually adopt it into the core textures. One can hope, either way, it is a Win-Win for all of us. Thanks again! -
Yes, you can change those joystick Axis beinding to key binding using the Logitech Software and configuring the Axis as Bands. Check out this other thread for discussion: https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/english/dcs-world-topics/input-and-output/saitek-aa/292179-logitech-x56-space-flight-h-o-t-a-s

I just installed the Latest Update,1.0.2020.1010, that seems to have come out on October 15. Very nice update that now includes the A-10C II and the application startup crash is fixed! Keep doing what you are doing Piotr - I will buy your next app if/when you build it. LoL. Suggestion: Weapons Control Panel for older planes like F-5E, F86, MiG19, MiG21 and Warbirds Cheers

Yes I get it too. I am not a Virpil Customer " YET " , I Suggest using their Support Site and opening up a trouble ticket.. That link comes up clean: https://support.virpil.com/en/support/home

Hi Devil-101 - Not sure what is not working for you, but I do have an X56 Stick and program the C-Stick using the Logitech software. For example - I have a Profile for the F-5E using C Stick that operates the Gun Doors "T" on the X-Axis. And for Y-axis selecting Dogfight Resume /Forward and /AFT " 5 and 6 ". I have Uploaded an attachment to my F-5E profile as a quick example. You can rename the profile and edit the key inputs for any other module. F-5E - C Stick v1.0.zip

I must have missed the memo? LoL... BIGNEWY is correct: Tweaking and adapting are the order of this day and needed for moving forward! The OLD Forum UI and Platform was outdated and likely obsolete. A refresh was obviously needed. Maybe there were security risks or exposures on the OLD forum that obviously nobody would want to talk about officially. Suggestions: The best way to adapt to change is to know change is coming - Read the Management Book " Who Moved My Cheese?" - Spenser Johnson, M.D. Using the Weekly News Update or some formal announcement that this change was needed and coming would have helped ease the suffering. Can a Sticky be Created that lists any Helpful Tips, Hints and Tricks that will show the OLD and newcomers to DCS how to get the best use of the new forum format and tools? Is there a "New User Manual" for this new "Early Access Forum UI? : ) FYI: Dark mode works for me, but I need to increase my Browser FONT size [CTRL +] up to 125% to read the smaller text. I am sure this will be one of the many tweaks coming in the next few days and weeks. Cheers.

Totally agree - Not using the Logitech Software or using it as Little as Possible is the best approach. I was thrilled when I found a MOD in the user downloads that let me use the X56 Slider (2 Position Switch) as an Air Brake. I was able to use that mod and hints for it to get the Slider Airbrake working on all my Jets! Oh, that is a good suggestion. Adding new key-binds to the Joystick/default.lua of modules that allow for analog sticks to be used as inputs would be nice. Until then - I am forced to use the Logitech X56 HUD (a.k.a SST) Software to set up the C Stick, and Mouse Mini stick as 4-way hats using Bands. Certainly not perfect, but better than nothing. The best Video I found for introduction to how to use the software and different use cases including BANDS is here: frooglesim: From this Forum - Ministick as a TCD: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=286860

I had the B-58 Hustler as a plastic model build when I was very young. In fact, I was probably 3 years too young to attempt the build... lol. Let's say plastic melts when too much contact cement is used. I can see the B-58 as an AI MOD at the very least; some talented modder could bring it to life in some form if only to admire it or escort it to a Nevada Bone Yard one last time.

Links work for me too.. I was using Chrome Browser - One suggestion is to try another browser if your main browser fails. Cheers. P.S I really appreciate the LIFE this MOD brings to the HUEY. Thanks!

A10C-II Magnetic compass shake with gun vibration I will be surprised if ED does not add the magnetic compass shake in the future. Worst case, maybe some smart programmer will figure out how to implement via a cockpit MOD.

MiG-21 Cockpit mod pack - Green/Gray/Black both in English & Russian It looks like HawkCZ6 updated the MOD, so it works for the Current MiG-21 Bis. Here is the link for reference: MiG-21 Cockpit mod pack - Green/Gray/Black both in English & Russian Type - ModAuthor - HawkCZ6 Date - 13.10.2020 01:09 https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3312710/

Everything OLD is NEW AGAIN! I purchased the Original DCS A-10C in 2011. It is fantastic to have such a classic module get updated this way. I hope the response has been better than EA expected, and they will be doing similar $10 upgrades/refreshes to the other very old modules like the Huey, F5 and F86 etc.

Mini Server.. Fits in your pocket
YSIAD_RIP replied to Koriel's topic in Multiplayer Server Administration
I have an old Intel NUC with Celeron N3050 (dual-core) that is probably 1/2 the performance or worse than your new Mini Server. I will not even try to test it. lol... Let us know if you are getting less stutter or better framerates running it at home. Thanks and Good luck. -
Until ED updates Cockpit I like the Cockpit MOD from Bummer? Hi Bummer, Until ED updates the F/A 18 Cockpit I really like this Cockpit MOD from you. ( - same Bummer?) I just bought a very used Nexus 10 Android tablet so I could have bigger UFC, ACMP, ICP. SWIPE works smoothly on F14 and the rest of the Modules... Very nice once you get used to it! Thanks, pet333r!

I can't get over how flexible and well written this utility is. I can't get over how flexible and well written this utility is. Recently, I started using the handy "External Application" and "Application Settings" to Launch External Apps with DCS. TrackIR was painless. I noticed DCSFlightPanels would launch, but when I would try to load a DCSFlightPanels Profile for a DCS plane, I would get an error: "The system cannot find the file specified." --- DCSFlightpanels_error_log --- System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception The system cannot find the file specified at System.Diagnostics.Process.StartWithShellExecuteEx(ProcessStartInfo startInfo) at System.Diagnostics.Process.Start(ProcessStartInfo startInfo) at DCSFlightpanels.MainWindow.RestartWithProfile(String bindingsFile) SOLUTION: All I had to do was edit the Environment Variable for my local account and add the Path of the DCSFlightPanels Executable to the PATH. Just like the good old DOS 3.1 days. Many thanks, again to Skate Zilla FYI: In the CURRENT BUILD: 10.2.2020 you have a minor typo in Appplications Settings - there is an Extra "P"
