100%. It also reminds me of northern Canada before global warming and of those beautiful full-size calendars that real estate agents used to give away as a promotion. Wouldn't it be nice if Eagle Dynamics could have Terrain configured like a Module in the Special menu? We could pick different trees like we do our English and Russian Cockpits enhancements. LoL. OvGME - works great for people who are comfortable using it.

I made an EDIT: I just starting speed reading the C-101-CC Manual - There is also a Stall Warning System Power Switch located on the Forward left Panel. Nice! So Pitot Heat is OK, but you still lose AoA gauge. All I do is turn the system back on if I am doing a landing. Nice little plane indeed.
-
One of the many things on the MB-339 that I find helpful and highly appreciate is the extra wind-noise that is generated when the landing gear is deployed. I don't think most of the planes in DCS have that courtesy. LoL. Of course, I appreciate the same feature for the Airbrake. I hope the New MB-339 does not lose that helpful feature. Question: Will the new MB-339 have the ability to apply Airbrake with a keyboard bind of "B" key as a Toggle and also the DCS Standard Ctrl-B and Shift-B combinations?
-
Nice - you can use Circuit Breaker to Stop Stick Shaker! I just noticed that I could use the Circuit Breaker to disable the Pitot Heat and Stall Warning Stick "Shaker"!. LoL I was even more impressed when I noticed I could bind that Circuit Breaker to my HOTAS. Hilarious - and COOOOL! Many Thanks. EDIT: I just starting speed reading the C-101-CC Manual - There is also a Stall Warning System Power Switch located on the Forward left Panel. Nice!

SMAA via ReShade is very nice - Vega56 (flashed to 64) Trying ReShade for the first time. So far so good. I turned off DCS MSAA x2 and enabled SMAA via ReShade. (ReShade also has FXAA) I could see visible improvement quality of the AA I did get about 7 FPS improvement. Your results will likely vary wildly depending on your GPU, CPU, RAM size and speeds. Fun Experiment! Reshade 4.7.0 Released on June 24th - You can find a few youtube videos and some information on DCS Forums about ReShade. Good Luck!

V3 Trees in the Fall really nice! Really enjoying the new Light Trees v3 in the Fall with Mustang's recent v1.32 release! I am finding Summer V3 Trees great but depending on the light angle they show up too bright in some spots. (My gut tells me that DCS lightning engine changes are the culprit here) Good luck with Han Solo LoL..... You should do a Tropic Thunder version and make jungle trees and vines. LoL.
-
ReShade is excellent. I am using it now for extra sharpening and SMAA, as I disabled DCS MSAA 2x It is fun playing with the plethora of FX shader/filters. Thanks!
-
Much appreciated.. I had a small dicast 104 Starfighter when I was child. It will be nice to have the 3D Skins to complete the memory.
-
Still deciding on V3 Light vs Dark Trees. Winter Trees will be an "Early Christmas Present" LoL... I just loaded the latest Mustang v1.32 as well. Fun times with the old Caucasus.

Over the years, I have seen several excellent Terrain Mods for the Caucasus Map. Has Urga Media considered making Syria map easier to mod? The best would be the ability to make changes in the Saved Games Folder. If not, would you consider releasing some suggestions on how to make changes to some elements like buildings or ground texture or even trees? (I already own the map, I am just thinking of future growth longterm adoption)

@DUSTER and All, I am currently nursing my Vega56 (flashed & undervolted to a Vega64 bios) for another year until I can justify a full upgrade. Suggestions for those with less than Ideal CPU and GPU power: Take before and after screenshots if you need and see if the difference in quality is acceptable vs FPS gains and losses. 1. Water and Visib Range: High >> Medium 2. Shadows and Terrain Object Shadows: >>Medium >> Flat 3. Clutter/Grass: 1000 >> 500, or even 300. ( just compare them ) 3. Preload Radius: 75500 >> 150000 (If you have 32 GB of RAM there should be no FPS penalty) 4. Cockpit Global illumination: On >> Off (just see if the difference is acceptable) 5. I recently started experimenting with ReShade. I disabled DCS MSAAx2 and replaced it with ReShade SMAA or FXAA. For my system, SMAA was a slight improvement over FXAA There is a lot of videos and content on ReShade, so if you like to tweak and experiment, you now have a new hobby... LoL Example of simple ReShade Profile in DCS User Files Download: increase FPS with Reshade preset

Barthek's CAUCASUS REDONE 2022
YSIAD_RIP replied to Barthek's topic in Texture/Map Mods for DCS World
Barthek, I have this thread bookmarked. I like the refreshing colours your textures are bringing to Caucasus. Currently, I have all the Caucasus mods I can find installed in my OvGME. I just switch them out when I am in a different mood or when an EXCITING update, like yours, comes along. Cheers, and thanks for your work on this. :chef: -
 Most Excellent! Now I can hear a much nicer difference! And I think I learned that the sdef files point DCS to your Skullz_Custom_ sound files! Cheers.

Any Hope for Grass Textures that are Less Strain on FPS? What can I say Taz1004 - Thank you for v3 - For what I call the "MORE-BETTER-GOODER" grammatically incorrect version. LoL Having the choice between light and dark is genius because it helps compensate for variables like monitor quality, gamma and other terrain mods, etc.. Two Questions: Is it possible to create a Clutter/Grass Mod that is less of an FPS performance hit when setting to higher values? (I think it would be nice to have grass set at 1500 for helicopter fun) What is your suggestion, if any, regarding ReShade? I just started experimenting with it mainly to get away from DCS built-in MSAA. Having fun trying out FXAA vs SMAA. (SMAA seems impressive with my Vega 56/64.)

7-Zip has been in my utility folder since Windows 2000. :thumbup:Thanks to all the developers and modders out there. If it were not for them, this DCS Flight Hobby would not be worth it. Bravo to Taz1004's v3 Better Trees mod and the Skullz Genuine Huey Sound Mod because flying the Huey low and over trees just got a FREE Upgrade!

Some Examples of the harmless files and folder differences in v3.0 vs v3.01 EXCELLENT SOUNDS! It looks like the zip file v3.01 is smaller than v3.0. v3.0 = 124 MB 89 Files, 30 Folders v3.01 = 117 MB 64 Files, 14 Folders The v3.0 has a Mods folder, and v3.01 does not -(part of moving to Saved Games Folder?) The Sounds Folder in v3.01 is 3 MB smaller and has fewer Files and Folders compared to v3.0. Also, v3.0 has more sound files that look like copies of the same files in Folder For Example: see v3.0 (Sounds >Effects> Aircrafts > Engines) Other folders in v3.0 like Sounds > sdef > Aircraft> Engines / Uh-1H are other examples of extra folders with names like Original and Testing.

Very happy I purchased this map already..... Keep cooking up those textures and damage models. I spent the last few days just playing with Texture Mods on the Caucasus map - I can only imagine what the future has in store for this amazing Syria Map. Thanks!
-
Several Texture Mods available including a cool Better Trees! 100% - Caucasus deserves respect. I recently started experimenting with some of the excellent Texture Mods out for Caucasus. You can search all of them up in the Forums. All of them give a new refreshed and sometimes much more realistic feel to the map. Fun to experiment with if you want to kill a couple of hours on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Examples: Better Trees V2 (Light and Dark) CGTC - Caucasus Ground Textures Compilation MUSTANG STARWAY Ga-BIKA textures MOD BARTHEK

Can F104 Skins be released even if VSN F104 is only good for AI now? I am painfully aware that newer DCS Updates now encrypt specific files and that Mods like VSN Starfighter are no longer flyable. That does not mean those planes can't be used as AI. (I was just chasing some tonight) @Jocko417 would you consider releasing a version of the Canadian F104 skins or is it too many hours that can be spent doing work on other flyable skins? I think the F-86 Sabre skins and cockpit work you did were EXCELLENT! Cheers.
-
YoYo, you should try a lower gamma between 1.6 and 1.8 just to see if it brings out even better contrast/details. I can understand using high gamma, especially in brightly lit rooms. (My Office faces East with lots of morning sun - thankfully I usually fly DCS in the evening. Cheers.
-
Fantastic TREES! - ED Are you looking at this? The Default Trees is Caucasus were killing me! Thank you x100 Taz1004 for the upgrades. I went with the Dark Trees to match up the CGTC v1.01 Ground Textures Compilation Mod. Gama 1.7 ------| DEFAULT |---------------| LIGHT |-----------------| DARK |

Same Problem with Guages - I hope it is not hard to fix. Currently Running Latest Open Beta 2.5.6.52437.
