Just a minor bug / forgotten implement for ver 1.1.1.1. When you fire up the ABRIS, the version still reads 1.1.1.0 as it does it's POST. Nothing major, just a heads-up.

Just to confirm, looks like 1.1.1.1.1.1.1.1.1.1. solved the problem, did a complete 1 hour nav-ex using NDB approaches in zero vis with no hick-ups.

Confirmed by another 159th member. Crashed when the R800 is set to ADF.

Description: While turning ADF knob after initial setting (doesn't matter what #), after you turn it again, the sim crashes. To reproduce (did it 7 times in a row): Loaded a custom mission (included) starting on the runway at Krymsk. 1. Place TLF/TGF in TGF 2. Turn ADF freq to #3 3. Ensure Conpass mode on 4. Switch R800 radio to ADF mode. (at this point the HSI works fine) 5. Turn ADF knob to anything else and The sim crashes. A track file would not save. I attached a file I found the the BS2/log folder, it had "crash" in the title. Renamed it to .TXT in order to upload. PC Specs: Win7 x64 Ultimate GTX 260 e8400 CPU (Oc'd) 8Gb RAM 850 watt PSU NDB_ADF Training at Krymsk.miz DCS-20111112-050838.txt

I've got an EEE Pad and keyboard from Asus. Went with this over iPad because it has usb ports, mini HDMI and was half the price of the apple. Works great for me, and with the keyboard attached, the battery life is near 16 hours in constant use (dual batteries)

Mine sums up what happens everytime I try to play a console game that is anything but Guitar Hero..I can't get my head wrapped around the controllers.. But I know everyone one of my 60+ odd buttons settings on my HOTAS !

Actually you are wrong. Flares are completely ineffective for use against radar guided missiles, and chaff are completly ineffective against IR guided missiles. That is why, in the real world, there are the two types primary types of disposible ECM (with various sub-types, etc), and the same for the sim (except the different types of each). What about adding the Oerlikon Contraves (now Rheinemetall) GDF-005 Twin AA Gun to the game? It is used (or was during the time period) by several countries for years (Canada, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain etc). I'm a former gunner for this system, so the info if fairly accurate. 1. It's a great weapon, can be remote fired by the SkyGuard radar system or fired by the operator. 2. The operator can fire the cannon electrically with preprogrammed burst duration via control yoke (up to 3 seconds IIRC) or manually (Fire until the autoloaders kick in) via foot pedal. 3. Rate of fire is 1100 rds per minute, 280 rds stored onboard (156 rds ready with another 124 in the autoloaders). 4. Several types of rounds available (AHEAD, TPT, HEI, etc) 5. Up to 2 wpn systems per Skyguard if the radar is used (Connected via line) 6. Engage fixed wing A/C at 3.5km, Helo's at 4.5km, ground about 3km. 7. Traverse rate of 360' in about 3 seconds. 8. Laser ranger with lead angle computation. Just a suggestion..

PN = Proportional Navigation - Essentially the guidance laws the missile uses to anticipalte where the aircraft will be, and meet it there. Latex - The amount of combined G forces the missile can accumulate before running out of maneuverablitly. For example, a missile with a Latex of 50 G's can maneuver 10 times with a 5 G turn before it departs "controlled" flight. On the other hand, if the pilot that is targeted knows what missile is being fired, he (or she :) ) can theoritically do combined turns that will have a higher Latex than the missile, and defeat it (if he has time).

I use 542 (usually) and always select the side that the enemy is more likely to engage from. The problem with SAM's is that besides the older 7 series of MANPADs (or HN 5) which are very easily spoofed, even by turning your exhaust away from the threat, the newer generation are very good at flare rejection, have great PN, very high Latex values and are capable of tracking the heat generated by friction on nearly all surfaces. Some the the new systems, through their PN programming, will actually, at the last millisecond before explosion, alter course to enter the cockpit area of the aircraft, exploding within. Luckily DCS hasn't modelled these, and if so, not very well, so I think (IMHO) it's more of a crap shoot with the flares then anything else. Maybe something like this >> # of flares X # of msl / distance to target = % probability of kill

Whatever POV switch you are reassigning, make sure you delete all the commands for it in the ingame settings first. A nice thing with A10C is that in the settings menu, you can move the switch you want to change, and the settings menu will go to that input, making it very easy to find. Delete the pre-set input for that switch and then put you own in. DCS A10c actually have more than one POV switch in the game (look at your in-cockpit stick, you'll see them). It will be hard to use it with only one POV on your actual joystick. Like everyone said, x52 (pro) is a great starting stick..Been using mine for 2 years now, and will not be upgrading until it thunders in on me. -
Fiddling around the other night (no screenies), but you can land in the water, sinking up to the base of the rotor mast, hover there, and then take off again.. Pretty damn effective water seperators !

As Topol-m stated, my thread, specifically this page here has my screenies for what I'm getting now and the settings I used. I'm also running the "no shadows" mod. Those overcast missions in the campaign are brutal. What I did was open them and edit it to clear sky, at least it made it playable for me.

I'm also running the "No Shadows" mod with both BS2 and A10, but it is not mentioned in the 159th thread.
