From A-10C Warthog Pilot Interview on SimHq http://www.simhq.com/air-combat/air-combat-interviews/warthog-pilot-interview.html Yes, finding camouflaged units is hard. But in sim you have problem to spot things, that are easy to spot IRL, i.e. vehicles moving on the road. There are also other topics that make spotting targets such a problem in SIM - mission design and player - a.i. interaction (i.e. the ability to be talked to the target)
-
What makes you think A-10 would not have the same problem? I mean, you have a 2 crew plane where the only job of the WSO is to look through the targeting pod and make sense of the situation. Why would an A-10, flying above 15000ft (or any deck specified by the ROE) not face the same problem?

ED isn't some idealized 'true creator', ED is a company trying to make enought revenue to pay thier employees and satisfy thier shareholders. It was allways dollar driven, but you can be dollar driven and keep your standards, those two are not exclusive.

I too saw some of yours videos and they look great, very nice setup. If you enjoy streaming then please continue going, even if you're not getting tons of active response I'm sure there are people who appreciate your work.

Yeah, but you cannot get to the end of the road without walking the path. Noone is going to release a civil aviation addon accompanied with total rehaul of atc and ground based navigation. The same way noone will release a whole Vietnam war module with multiple of DCS level aircrafts. RRG is imho the only group that can relese a whole package because of the history they have with developing full ww2 sim games. But that its. For other eras we have to walk the path...a civil plane might not be very usefull for now, but it might be the first step required. And I'm not saying it has to start with an airliner, even a DCS level Cessna, or glider might be actually a blast to fly, especially when EDGE comes along.

@Flogger23m As was stated, there is only one way to stop era fracture - closing your platform and only work with 3rd party developers who want to develop for your chosen period. The problem with this approach is that you drastically reduce the number of modules you get to fly, because you cannot force a 3rd party dev to develop something they don't want. If anything was proven by the longetivty of FSX is that closing your platform is not the way to go, openning it is. Sure, you get era fracture at first, because only a handful of devs will choose your platform. But If those developers are successful and prove that your platform is valid then they will attract more 3rd party devs, slowly filling the fracture holes. Sure it will take several years, but in the end it will be well worth it. Bottom line is, you are not wasting manhours by this fracuture, because those manhours would not be available if you would focus on one era.

Man, that lighting sure look gorgeous.

You would be surprised how many people were caught by that ;)

Controls again messed up after reinstalling
winz replied to Hydrox's topic in Controller Profiles and Problems
The UID is there so dcs can differentiate between two controlers of the same kind. (so you can use i.e. two Thrustmaster MFDs). Windows doesn't support two keyboards key maps, so there is no reason to use UID for keyboard. -
Meh, why is ED spending manhours on modules no-one is interested in...seriously. At this pace they will never finish the DCS: AT-802 i'm waiting for...:P

1.3.0 doesn't tell you anthing about when it comes, only that it will be 1.3.0... there might as well be a 1.2.26 version before it ;)

Issue with latest geforce drivers
winz replied to howie87's topic in Video Corruption and Related Card Issues
I have seen it too. It happens when the mission start in cloudy weather(not full overcast). When I switch the camera to an distant object (using F2, F7..) the clouds disappear around my plane and black shades on water surface appear. GTX 770, but I don't have latest drivers. -
1.2.8 Open Beta Preliminary Change Log
winz replied to upupandaway's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
F-15C AFM, Su33 and Su25T 6dof cockpits...pure excelence :) I'm interested how big impact this will have :) -
The reason why the tornados are not engaging is that lanuchers don't have their radar on unless they are engaging, so the tornados are unable to target/destroy them with HARMS.
-
There are few problems with satellite mounted radars. One of the bigest is that the area they can scan is pretty much set by their orbit. Imho they will be at lower orbit, that means they will overfly your area of interest in matter of minutes. Then you'll have to wait hours for another pass near your area. I say near because in each pass they will overfly a different area (because the world is spinning under them). So satellites are great for taking photos you can analyze later, because you can wait for the window the sattelite will overfly your area of interest, take bazillion of photos during the overpas. But not much for real-time tracking

The Valley - A-10C Version [SP Campaign]
winz replied to winz's topic in User Created Missions General
Using mavs to destroy the target is the safe way. But using mavs to destroy any anti air and then gun the the sh*t out of your target can be a lot of fun :D Glad people are enjoying the campaign :) -
The Valley - A-10C Version [SP Campaign]
winz replied to winz's topic in User Created Missions General
Possibly, I don't know if the directory structure is different for spanish version. You could try to copy it to module folder - DCS Install folder\Mods\aircrafts\A-10C\Missions and somewhere there should be a campaign folder, in EN version it's under \EN\Campaigns\ The campaign should then be visible under the A-10C tab. -

The Valley - A-10C Version [SP Campaign]
winz replied to winz's topic in User Created Missions General
Campaign is available for download http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/602596/ Have fun :) -
This is the A-10A Campaign (available in FC 3 and A-10A Module) converted to use A-10C. Original description: Enemy forces have occupied the Ozurgeti valley in southwest Georgia after a quick and bloody occupation invasion. Friendly forces at company strength are now stationed south of Kobuleti and will push north and then east to push the enemy forces out of the valley to the east. Tactical air will be critical in providing both Forward Edge of Battle (FEBA) Close Air Support (CAS) and behind the FEBA interdiction strike missions. Features: 10 stages long, 2 missions per stage In the weeds - the sky is protected by a pair of Buk SAM, so you have to fly low. Changes from the A-10A Version Ramp Start - all missions start on ramp. Other flights will be activate once you're airborne, so you can go through your start-up procedure at your own pace Tors disabled – The Tor SAM systems in the last two missions were disabled because the AI SEAD is too unreliable. Easy Mode – You can use the custom radio item (F10- Other) to decrease the difficulty. This will disable the Buk system behind the ridge, allowing you to fly in higher altitudes, significantly lowering the mission difficulty. Note: I'm not the original author of this campaign and all I've done is the conversion from A-10A to A-10C Installation: Download the zip file and extract it to DCS Saves Folder\Missions\Campaigns\en\ The campaign should appear in campaigns under 'user' tab Download: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/602596/ Enjoy and please report any bugs you'll find. :)

I have been working on this conversion in my spare time for the past few weeks. It's almost done and will most likely be available this week. :) -
Thanks for the update. Good luck. :)

Please Provide The DCS Applications Of Chinese Version
winz replied to loo_ohs's topic in DCS Wishlist
It is important to keep in mind that supporting chinese isn't just about the translation, it's also about the ability of DCS to display chinese (fonts, language coding and stuff). And that part can be a lot of work. -
First, I disagree that story based missions are less immersive, first time playing through deployment or revanche was the most immersive sim experience for me, ever. There is a limit how far you can go with generated radio communication. Sure, the magic is somewhat gone after you're done with them, but that's the issue of replayabilty, not immersion...just my opinion. These inconsistencies are there because the mission editor doesn't force anything, it doesn't have a set structure for a mission (which is good), so DCS, the engine, cannot communicate to you what you're expected to do, because the engine doesn't known. It is the responsibility of the designer to give you good mission briefing that is on one hand immersive and on the other hand gives you instructions about what you have to do for 'mission success'. And honestly I don't know how to immersively inform the player that 'he only has to take off, leave the starting are and land for the mission to succeed'. Maybe an information in the campaign description, informing the player about the general campaign structure...dunno. Also, on one hand you talk about realism, on other hand you're irritated because you 'wasted your time flying back'. :) Anyway, you can check your current mission progress any time by pressing ' key. When you see number 51+ then you can exit the mission and will advance to the next one.
