  1. You assume that code needed to fix is the same that was modified during implementation of new things. It's usually the other way arround, the things that break by new code are most of the time totally different parts of code, where no-one ever thought that the new functionality would affect them. ;)
  2. Yep, its a bug : http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=124457
  3. What he says. There could easily be a 1.2.10..1.2.11... On the other hand, there might never be 1.2.9 and we can go straight to 1.3.0. It's a version number, not a counter. ;)
  4. Agreed, getting baned from doing business in the US is something any company will try to avoid.
  5. Yes, but those can only affect US based companies, and those operating in the US. You cannot fine a swedish based company, that isn't operating in the US, because they broke some US law. Wasn't this more the case of the spanish having a US based sub-contractor that produced parts for the heli? And if they went on to sell the heli to Venezuela the US authorities could ban the US based subcontractor to export the part? If they (theoreticaly, because I cannot see that to be feasible) switched the sub-contractor for a spannish based, they should be imho ok.
  6. I'm kinda curious how this could be enforced. Let have an imaginary Gripen that is 100% manufactured in sweden, and only parts of its SW suite were outsourced to some companies in the US (so legally SAAB has the ownership). Let's say Sweden would like to sell Gripen to Iran. Swedish companies are not bound by US law, nor have the US courts any way to legally punish them (fine them, prosecute the owners) companies. From my personall experience: Company I work in (based in Germany) had a contract with a country heavily sanctioned by the US. And delivering our SW, created using american made SW (visual studio) was not a problem. The problem was delivering 3rd party sw sold by US companies (like MS Windows, or Oracle). And our legal department was very carefull with this one, because you don't want to end on some US goverment black list ;)
  7. Did they from a legal stand point? If it was a regular outsourcing, then all ownership rights transfered to SAAB. We have several pieces of SW that was not developed in-house, yet we call it 'our SW', it's pretty standard in SW development. And if this is the case, then US export restriction cannot apply, because it is not an US SW.
  8. "Little bit difficult"...tell that to Iraqi, and Jugoslavian air defences :) Radars aren't some kind of magic, but thier properties are defined by laws of physics. The detectable reflected power is defined by the radar equation. If you have a target with much much much lower RCS (stealth) then this target will be much much much harder to detect and no kind magic wand, or youtube video can change that. Thus stealth plane will always have an advatage. No kind of magical signal processing will help you, because the power reflected by the stealth plane is absorbed in atmosphere and there is nothing for your antenna to receive. The only thing you can do is change other variables in the radar equation - like power of your radar, but that will yield the same results - stealth plane detectable at much shorter ranges then no stealth planes. Or you can change the frequency, read lower, to fq ranges where shape of the plane doesn't have such a big impact on RCS)...But you don't wanna do that, because (once again, thanks to physics), your fq dictates the size of the anntena and radar resolution... There is reason why most tracking radars operate in the same spectrum. edit: The bottom line is, stealth is a tool, one of many. Can an airplane without radar beat in a 1v1 dogfight an airplane with one? Sure it can, but is it an argument againts radars?
  9. Jesus, I think I just became dumber just by watching this... Factually? Maybe... Blown out of proportion without any context? Yep. Like the part when she mentions the F-22 cannot fly low because it's armor is so light it can be penetrated by ground fire... Well, yes, it is... Like the armor of any other aircraft....Even the A-10 is lightly armored (when compared to IFV) and can be penetrated by ground fire ( when you don't count the titanium bathtub around the pilot)
  10. I just love those colors, best I have seen any sim yet.
  11. You don't have to do anything. These are windows managed user folder and DCS doesn't know where they are actually located. DCS have to ask windows "hey, where is the users 'Saved Games' folder" and windows 'tells' DCS the real location.
  12. Yay! Just finished the Huey campaign and all I have to say is Thank You Belsimtek! I'm a SP player and quality of the campaign affects how much I enjoy a module a lot... And this one was great. Loved the setting, loved the missions, loved the variety and I especially LOVED the pacing. I was able to jump in just after few hours of basic flying (when my landings looked more like an epileptic seizure :D ) and because of the well done pacing I haven't felt even once that I've hit a brick wall and that I have to do some more training in custom missions. :) Well done Belsimtek!
  13. Is he? I can buy a programmable GPS guided RC drone in almost any RC store. Such thing has much more potential to become a weapon (just add some explosive and you're done) than a home made missile with unreliable guidance. I don't see how building a rocket powered controllable tube is any more threatening than building a jet powered RC plane, or some other things you're allowed to do...i.e. owning tanks and other military vehicles (as long as their weaponary is inoperable).
  14. Right-click the Saved Games folder, select Properties. On the location tab is a 'move' button that allows you to move the folder.
  15. Those Amazon drones are coming...You gotta be prepared...:D
  16. @Ace of Hart Also install TacView, it is a must have tool for analyzing your fights. http://lomac.strasoftware.com/tacview-en.php
  17. If you open up the options menu, there are lots of options that don't have anything with hardware limitation. Radio Assits, Crash Recovery, Easy coms, Unlimited fuel/ammo, immortality, g-effects....etc.. The sim is full of options available to scale the difficulty. Why? Because this is not a career path but an entertainment SW that is played by people in their free time. And different people are able/want to dedicate different amount of time to the sim. Some follow full checklists during start-up, some use the win+home cheat.. And for ED all these customers are valuable. That's why we have game modes, and scalable difficulty. And in this context the option for scalable AAR dificulty makes perfect sense. Yes, it is possible to learn AAR even with basic stick...But I don't really see how is that a valid point...Because you can complete a mission without immortality/external views/unlimited ammo, but those options are there for people that might find them usefull, and for those who enjoy the sim with them. Yes, so what? For some people this is not the be all-end all. And they don't want to spend hours studying materials and then spend hours (days/weeks) in sim perfecting their skill-set, because for some people this piece of SW is just a game they play for pure enjoyment. So person who is using labels, unlimited ammo and no g-effects is a worse airman then someone who is flying without assits..so what? The only thing that is important is if the person is enjoying his time spent playing this sim. What fix? No-one is talking about changing AAR and making it easier. I think every sane human ticking a 'easy AAR' checkbox realize that they are using an assist. It's not the first assits available in the sim...
  18. Well, yes, but lets be honest, most sim pilots suck at what is irl considered basic flying ;) I voted yes, this kind of scalability is imho a good thing. On one side it allows people who do not want to spend time to learn 'basic flying' to enjoy this aspect of the sim, on the other hand it doesn't affects those capable. On the other hand, how high on the priority list something like this should this be? imho somewhere at the bottom.
  19. Do you really thing that the air force is so stupid, that they would allow someone without proper training to "have-a-try" on some of their multimilion equipment? :) I had a try in a small aircraft after years of siming and the experience is totally different, in both operating and actually flying the aircraft. Operating: Even if we simers know the instruments and what switches to press, we usually don't follow the proper procedures. How many of us really check the switches position before startup? How many of us monitor the engine parameters during startup? How many of us do magneto tests on the p-51? IRL you check and double check everything. Flying: The experience is totally different. For start, the simulator air is too sterile, constant. It isn't that IRL. And sitting in a seat that moves with the aircraft is totally diferent experience than sitting at your desk. I.e. something as basic as coordinated turns, irl I had to concentrate on even keeping the aircraft banked, because the feeling of beeing banked was just unnantural, weird and my subconsciousness tried to level the aircraft... Sure, I had no problems keeping it in the air, and the instructor didn't have to take control, but my flying was wonky. Like when you learn to use the clutch in a car, you know what to do, you just lack the muscle memory. Oh, and the one hour flight was enough for my arm :D So, is a simmer able to start a fly a real plane? Well, start yes...flying no, no in the terms of beeing a safe aviator.

    EFM vs PFM

I could be asking the same question, if we don't know what 3rd parties are using, why are you saying it isn't EFM? And that's the reason I used the IF statement. If they are using the available api, then it is EFM, because that's what the EFM label means. It says very litle about the model fidelity. If they don't, then it isn't EFM.

    EFM vs PFM

I disagree, as long as they are using the api provided by ED, it is EFM. No matter if Yo-Yo cheked it, or not.
  22. Thanks for the update. Great work as always. :)
  23. Dude, if your eyesight is so blurry then you should really see a doctor ;) What? Debating wheter or not he can determine if it's friendly or civilian is pretty much useless when in the sim you're not even able to spot that truck.
  24. so much awesomeness
