Yep, I flew back to rearm 2 times. The amount of targets requires it. -
Black Shark 2: Republic Campaign
winz replied to kontiuka's topic in Black Shark 2 The Republic Campaign
I've finished the campaign so I will now sum my opinions about it - First things first, I've not experienced any broken triggers during the playthrough. All missions worked as they were supposed to, and I was not forced to re-fly any mission because something broke, this is a huge +. I liked the setting, it was a pleasant from the regular 'realistic' campaigns. The Ka-50 fitted perfectly. It would be great if more campaigns tried to break from the norm and experiment a little. The briefings are detailed and give enough information so I knew what is expected of me and how achieve my objectives. The missions also have nice variety and few of them are truly original. But now for the first negative - imho, some of them ask too much from a single airframe, especially the airfield capture, and the last combat mission. The airfield capture is tricky, because you have no intel about the units around the airfield (it would be great to have this in briefing), especially manpads are huge pita, because they are deadly and very hard to spot (as IRL). The last combat mission got tricky because of the laser geting broke after firing 24 vikhrs, even when following the cooldown instructions. I resorted to vehicle respawn in that one, because destroying the last t-55s with cannon became tedious and super-boring. The other - minus is the voiceover. I feel there is just too little of it, and even that little isn't all english. Some of the ambient voiceovers are in Russian, and it feels weird. I wouldn't mind in a free campaign, but for payed one I expect some consistency. Overall I would rate this campaign as 8/10, it's a nice campaign that works (the most importatn part), tries to experiment with breking the norm, but the excecution sometimes lacks a little bit of polish. Is wort the 10 bucks? Absolutely, I enjoyed my playthrough, will certainly replay it again and I would absolutely bought The Republic 2 :) -
Yes, this happens on older missions where skin name used for units no longer match with skin names currently in installation. When that happens the sim will fallback to the default skin, which is the russian one. To fix this is it necessary to open each mission, open each unit payload and change the skin. What ED could do is to change the logic so it will fallback for the first skin of the country of the unit. But I imagine this would have very little priority.

This is the normal starting 'COLD' position for flaps in the Su-25 and Su-25T (has been for years). The flaps will be retracted the moment you start your engines and the hydraulics get pressurised.

Black Shark 2: Republic Campaign

The manpand spawns only if you overfly the city. This is pretty standard for story campaign and both the Ka-50 campaigns - Deployment and Operation Medvedev were set this way too. -
Autopilots and Flight Directors and Trim, Oh My!
winz replied to kingfish's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Autopilot has two functions 1)Stability augmentation - to make the helo more stable overall and prevent things like pilot inducted oscilation 2)Hold mode - Which is what you descibed in Autopilot function. It is there to hold the helo in the attiude/heading it was in when the trim button was released. Flight direction disables the hold mode, but keeps the stability augumentation. So the helo will not become the suicidal mess of rotating parts that it by design is. Auto hover: If you're trimmed correctly and already in hover when you engage this mode, then it will keep you in hover, stationary. Helicopter is unstable, so there no hover without constant inputs (especially irl when the weather is much more lively), auto hover provides the constant inputs instead of the pilot. All these system are there because helos are unstable, they require constat input and correction. Unlike fixed wing aircraft they don't have a stable attiude, all these system are there to lower pilot load by making the helo more stable. I would suggest the UH-1 module, it will show just how unstable and how much work flying a RAW helo is and it will make you appreciate the stability systems in Ka-50 much more ;) -
Black Shark 2: Republic Campaign
winz replied to kontiuka's topic in Black Shark 2 The Republic Campaign
Tbh I'm currently playing this campaign and I enjoy the break from the holy US-Russia-Insurgents trinity. It's good to have this kind of campaign for time to time, and it allows the mission creator to create events that would not make sense in a 'realistic' setting. (i.e. a single helo turning the tide of the conflict) -
You can uninstall DCS World 1.2 and the beta will work fine without it, but you'll have to reinstall it once the 1.5 is pushed from beta into the stable version. If you want to save space on SDD then just copy the stable 1.2 version onto your mechanical disc.

Republic Campaign+BS 1 Upgraded to 2=A no go?
winz replied to Mrmaverick's topic in Black Shark 2 The Republic Campaign
I have BS2 upgrade version and was able to purchase the Republic no problem. The warning there is so people are noticed they need that particular addon, but it doesn't looks in your profile if you own BS2, so it is displayed even if you own BS2. -
This is not caused by TrackIR, but by the viewport constrains in DCS. I don't know if this is new in 1.5, but the aim is to only allow movement that would be allowed to a pilot strapped in the seat.

Flight Qualifications Campaign
winz replied to Sabre-TLA's topic in A-10C Basic Flight Training Qualification DLC
You need to keep in mind that barometric altimeters are only 100% accured in ISA atmospehere. There will be deviation at higher altitudes. -
Possible Bug? Altitude Discrepency Between HUD and Game Engine
winz replied to Sabre-TLA's topic in F-15C for DCS World
I think this is not a bug, barometric altimeter are only accure in ICAO standard atmosphere. If you're not flying in standard atmosphere, then there will be deviation. The standard weather in DCS doesn't match the ICAO standard atmosphere, i.e. the starting temperature is 20 degrees, that will cause the altimeter read less, then is the actuall atlitude. Flying in cold condition will cause the altimeter to read more than is the actual altitude, this is an issue in real aviation and is something the pilot must be aware of when he's flying an approach in very cold weather. -
Black Shark was the first ED Sim I've flown, and it's what hooked me to the franchise, so it had to be the first module I would fly in EDGE. And after my experience with Mi-8 and especially the UH-1 I've to say I LOVE THE KA-50 AUTOPILOT :D It makes flying this thing so much easier, I'm loving every second of it.

That's a shame, thanks :)

Could you please give the name of the lua file, where these variables are stored? So I can replace them with 1.2 values and get my precious countermeasures back. ;)
