That will probably be the rad alt. You set this with the bottom right (poss left) dial on the altimeter. Its default at 100 so often comes on. There is a yellow light attached to it but easily missed. -
Am I right in thinking then this tank should not be used if not enabled? I have always linked it up on start-up as Wags did but I'm pretty sure I used the fuel in it anyway even when I have forgotten to do this. I'll have to check again to be sure.

If uninstalling use Revo uninstaller as that will give you options to clear out registry keys and all trace. No idea why windows does such a bad job of this. Or before you do that there is another free program called ccleaner by piriform. That has a great tool for searching for and removing unused registry keys. I use it all the time for PC upkeep. -
Dedicated Haptic Feedback - for bass shakers and the like
Hoirtel replied to jross194's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Been thinking of trying this next! But I would expect to turn nearly all SAA effects off as I think they would conflict in timing. The G effect at the moment is the main one I feel I would like to try but I'm not sure as this is a replacement effect rather than sound enhancement. Which ones do you use? The sound option does add some "effects" that I need to get used to... I heard my first Sonic boom on a server the other day, thought I'd been hit with a Sam! However when I was sat at MP airfield I could feel those other jets taking off. That was really awesome! -
I noticed recently when I tried the hind without Vaicom on, was that on the radio selector panel there is a switch for radio and ics that defaults (cold start) to ics. Normal DCS read both my ics and radio transmit buttons as "interphone" until I switched this to radio. DCS ATC however answered on ics position so maybe not 100% correct (or I dont understand it). I've not tried this with Vaicom yet but maybe might have an affect.

Dedicated Haptic Feedback - for bass shakers and the like

Just tried my transducers with game sound only using voicemeeter banana to split the sound and EQ it for the bass shakers. I really prefer this to SSA now it's totally in time and tune with DCS, and each aircraft is as different as the sound and perfectly tuned straight away. Not taking anything away from SSA&SM as it's a great bit of software but this "native" experience feels really nice. The apache and hind are especially awesome. Took a bit of figuring out to get it all going with sound splitting and ensuring my microphone works properly. Worth it though! -
@RuskyV Would be to have a trim "option" that dose neither of the above, instead when hitting the trim button you can release the stick pressure when ever you like (no freezing)or if needed add in additional pressure and not then have it automatically add in more stick deflection. I'm returning to this tread after being one of the early confused people. Now its so simple, I can't believe I got it wrong. Your above suggestion isn't even possible. If no additional inputs are added, or the stick does not wait for return to center (freezing) then no trimming has been applied. If it trims at an "unknown" later stage after more inputs have been received this is crazy and even worse than trim reset during flight! The whole point of trimming is you can reduce your workload. You only reduce your workload when your controls are in the center, because you are not compressing the spring. Anyone still having issues I really would encourage you to fly without trimming, get comfortable then introduce some trimming, stick first. Pedals after (change special options). Trim-center, trim-center, trim-center. Thats all it is. Easy.

@NomoreflySwitch your PC on. Leave it for a while to settle. Grab a screen shot of your task manager processes and what apps run on startup. Reducing overheads makes a huge difference for DCS.

Have the Oculus Quest 2, but not that glad with the results :(

Yes, I should add I'm on the basic strap and standard battery only. That range is impressive! I'm actually only on my standard isp router which I never expected to work as well as it does. It's not something I do much but if I could play standing VR in a bigger room.... Hmmm.. upgrades.... -
resolved DCS 2.7.11 - VR cursor persists too long

Well... It doesn't break the game. So, not game breaking. -

Around 2hrs (ish) quite usable really, but I don't mind the wire when seated in DCS. For the occasional zombie killing spree, airlink is the only way to go. To get the best out of airlink your PC needs to be connected to your wifi 6 router via a cable and all needs to be in the same room. Once I wonder away from router it drops off. It does have more range than the cable though.... -
Not tried this yet, but just a thought to the is it or isn't argument. How many people are using the stereo monitors setting in DCS? I wonder if that will have an impact on the functionality of these settings. When I have run DCS with this, I'm not sure there is any difference in VR but starting a flight (to test) in 2D mode DCS renders a left and right copy. Just like the "both" VR mirror option. That might trigger the section of the profile that is being tweaked? Also from what I understood about the profile inspector, it should only work in either the global or DCS profile as these are basically expanded versions of the NVCP. What was said above about VRdirectX being another game makes sense.

Airlink is absolute whichcraft... I cannot tell the difference to link cable now. Other than battery drain, which is the only reason I still use the cable. -
I think its a great and quite novel that we won't see it until its out. Its almost like a...phantom. I actually think they should have kept it 100% secret until its release. That would be pretty cool, and save them a lot of pitchforks.

Delete OTT, run bitrate and res width at default and all other ODT settings at default. Increase oculus resolution to maximum in software I have an older CPU than you and a 3090 and run much higher game settings for a great experience (except visibility range - thats a killer. High is hardly different to ultra). For the last few months oculus does some absolute magic in in software and the Q2 runs better than ever in DCS. Don't hamper it by changing settings. Its definitely used to be the case, but no longer. Running the Q2 at "recommended" resolution and then adding in 1.2 SS makes no sense. At max you will have no headroom for SS, nor will you need it. I also run 80 hrz but personal preference there maybe. Its supposed to. Thats how it works Yes reducing FOV will help, but.. well reduces FOV. I can't stand anymore than 0.9. Setting terrian textures to low on a 3090 is a waste of time. It has plenty of VRAM. With a 3090 all the tweaks need to be CPU based, I run high textures, full preload and high visibility. On syria, in the apache, smooth as silk. Also on the above CPU point, trimming the fat off your PC in terms of background applications makes a massive difference. If you aren't using it, don't run it. -
When flying low over terrain and getting that nervous, juddery scenery that varies in severity is the main achilles heel of VR in DCS. This is basically what I tune to when testing as I find it sets me up well for everything else, it is not down to reprojection as reprojection will make this smoother when it the fps is over the base rate. I see reprojection artefacts mostly during F3 flybys and looking back at wing tips when doing rolls etc. In my experience of testing the judder scenery is a CPU issue as it gets worse with buildings over trees and ME objects over map objects. GPU centric tweaks don't help as much, so rather than reducing PD to something really low, try shadows on low and terrain shadows on flat, or reducing other CPU based settings.

Problem is there are lots of "legacy" Q2 tweaks that don't really reflect the current status of the software. I think people go overboard and also incorperate too many WMR and SteamVR information. I have heard of several people runing oculus gear in DCS through steam vr too. Its actually now the most simple headset to set up in DCS, and I think works + looks great.

I use SSA and the sound module to run 2x transducers. It is quite good, but I am interested in trying out game sounds only through them just to see what its like. I was think of just splitting the sound in windows between my headset and transducers (separate sound devices), but are you saying SSA will do this anyway. Is it any different/better. I have already run the game sound only through the transducers just to see and I was surprised at what I could hear and what I couldn't feel, but was thinking I might need to filter out the low frequency sound to transducers only. -
resolved DCS 2.7.11 - VR cursor persists too long
Hoirtel replied to Raven (Elysian Angel)'s topic in VR Bugs
I confirm I see this bug since 2.11. Not game breaking but a shame as I felt DCS has the best Mouse-VR interaction experience. I currently just swing it left or right out of view. -
Not sure, but Q2 is working better than ever for me at the moment.

Never even noticed I was spelling it wrong....Probably done that a lot. Oops.

Yeah I've not been a massive MP player either and would like to do more but I think Viacom had been one of those barriers. I do also wonder what the future will hold for improved ATC in game but probably a long way off yet to really consider properly.
-
Thanks for that. Yes I will just make a second profile for now. I do like Viacom but as I dont use AI wingman and sporadic use of ATC I do only use a small bit of it. It is incompatible with many of the special F menu options on servers unless you use the options command, which doesn't always work for me. Its also not straightforward to use with SRS and I haven't even tried the voicechat yet. I think a simpler alternative might be better suited to my use. I am sure it won't be as immersive as the good bits of Viacom though!
