I have had these crashes too...all the time. Then tonight I removed the OC on my 2080 Super GPU and was able to load 8 or 9 missions without crashing at all. I changed modules, maps, and used my own missions and instant action. Removing the OC seems to have fixed it for me.

Yes, I had it when the cable connection of my Reverb G1 was a bit loose (the connector that's about 1 ft from the headseat, that brittle plasticcy thing). Securing it again and taping it up sorted that problem. Also, make sure you have good lights and have reset your environment in WMR if you have changed the area where you play. 2.7 has screwed things up for me in VR, I'm not impressed tbh. The clouds look like crap, they jitter and are performance hogs on my system. No idea how some people say that they look great and improve performance.

1st mission runs great, 2nd mission either has poor performance or crashes
Bog9y replied to Bog9y's topic in Virtual Reality
Ok, found it, thanks. So does that mean you don't start WMR at all before you click to start DCS? My sequence after Windows bootup is : 1) Ryzen Master - On , set GAME MODE - AUTO PBO 2) WMR - start 3) STEAM - DCS - PLAY (which in turn starts SteamVR). -
Dude, did you ever get your performance problem fixed? I know's it's been over a year but for me I had the same issue when I had reprojection switched on in WMR AND motion smoothing FORCED/ENABLED in SteamVR. I fixed it by disabling motion smoothing in SteamVR and only using the WMR reprojection to motion vector. Terrain shadows off made also a big difference for me.

Does anybody know what setting I need to change to DISABLE cockpit illumination/reflections from terrain? I have cockpit global illumination off but that doesn't make any difference. What I mean is, when I take off from Nellis in an F-16, the overall cockpit illumination seems to be a bit yellow-ish. Then as you are halfway down the runway it changes to a normal colour, the reverse happens on landing there. Normal colours on final, as you approach the threshold the cockpit seems to become more yellow.

I did buy FPSVR but haven't installed it yet. How do you turn off cliffhouse? Didn't think that was possible. EDIT TO ADD my specs: Ryzen 5900X / 2080 Super / 32 gb 3600 CL16 ram / SSD drive / Reverb G1 . Fresh windows install 20H2 with all the updates/latest Nvidia drivers. -
Hi guys, I have spent the last few days trying to optimise my settings and I am at a point where I have found a nice balance between image quality and performance. The one strange thing I have which is quite pronounced now (it wasn't as much before) is that my first mission from a fresh game start runs really nicely, including missions in Syria or super carrier. When I exit that mission and load another one the performance is a lot worse. FPS drops to 30-ish and frame time up to 30-40 Ms. Any idea what may be causing this or what setting regulates this? I thought it was the shader cache in the Nvidia control panel but after changing that it's not the cause of it. Any ideas? EDIT TO ADD my specs: Ryzen 5900X / 2080 Super / 32 gb 3600 CL16 ram / SSD drive / Reverb G1 . Fresh windows install 20H2 with all the updates/latest Nvidia drivers.

Cool, thanks for that link! I've not seen that video before. So basically, power management to max performance and maybe use ULTRA low latency and perhaps pre rendered frames to 4.

VR Shaders mod for better VR experience
Bog9y replied to Kegetys's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
HAGS is off. But I just noticed that my advanced display settings is showing 5 monitors! 1 is my monitor...not sure what the other 4 are but I assume it's my Reverb screens. I remember removing this option 6 months ago but have since reinstalled windows. Is it called something like virtual monitors? -
VR Shaders mod for better VR experience
Bog9y replied to Kegetys's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I just installed the shaders mod on a clean DCS install and my performance is actually worse now. Really weird, it would normally improve the performance but for some reason it makes it worse. My frame time went up from 22-ish ms to 30-40 ms (45 hz, reprojection on with Reverb G1). Am I missing something or doing something wrong? EDIT : Just figured out I had reprojection on in WMR AND SteamVR. For some reason , putting the reprojection ALWAYS on in SteamVR doesn't actually do anything. The only way for me to get reprojection to work is by putting motionvector in the WMR text file. -
I've never heard if this. Does it give you better performance in DCS than when you manually tweak it?
-
Just tested it and the numbers i quoted are pretty close to what's possible.

I don't but can ask some dude on FB. He has a full Harrier cockpit....the real thing, in his garage or something. He is the one who measured the UFC for me.
-
No necessarily, it comes down to best ANGLE of climb speed VS best RATE of climb speed, like Fri13 says. 300 kts may be the better rate of climb speed, so it may get there quicker but will cover more ground. In an Airbus for example your best angle of climb speed is what we call "green dot" , it's the best lift to drag ratio speed. Usually this is around 200 to 220-ish kts for your average A319/320. The best rate of climb speed in an A320 (classic models) is around 250/275/M0.76 depending on your alttitude.

I have played around with VTOs because I've seen several people complain about hover capability etc. So far, my findings have been pretty much exactly what the performance charts say to expect. DRY 19,400 lbs at sea level at 15 degr is no problem (you can probably squeeze it to 19800) and WET 20,400 lbs. Your FARPS are at 3000 & 6000 ft. For those elevations the graphs say your WET max weight should be: +/- 18,400 Lbs for the 3,000 ft FARP +/- 16,400 Lbs for the 6,000 ft FARP At 50 degr , sealevel your max VTO weight should be +/- 17,500 Lbs.

Hi guys, I would like to start this thread to find out what people find are the optimal settings in the Nvidia control panel and why? I think we all have: LOW LATENCY MODE set to ULTRA. PWR Management - Prefer MAX performance V SYNC - OFF FRAME RATE MAX - OFF What about the other settings though? Do the following settings make a big difference in image quality vs performance? IMAGE SHARPENING - On or off? Negative LOD BIAS - I read that it's best to have this set to ALLOW SHADER CACHE - On or off? Pre-Rendered frames - I noticed that 4 seems better than 1, less ghosting. I use a Reverb G1 at 90 Hz with reprojection forced/2080SUPER/Ryzen 5900X/32gb Ram

I have been wondering what the most accurate IPD scale value is for the Harrier. I was using 59 before but have now reduced it to 56 and it just feels right. I have no reference other than trying to estimate the width of the UFC in DCS. In real life it's 132 mm wide (not including the master caution/warning light rows), so I try to estimate what that would look like in DCS -VR.

I don't know dude, I personally think they did a great job changing the flight model and the numbers are close enough for me. The -400 charts are not super easy to read accurately so the time/distance/fuel figures are all just approximations. I am not claiming that the numbers I posted are gospel, they are mere tests and interpolations of the graphs. The SL to 10K is out by 34% which seems like a lot but it's only 13 seconds. And if I misread the time chart and over-read the graph the result would be much closer than that.
-
Ah ok. Ehm, I haven't really paid attention to that during my take offs.
-
What he talks about at 43:00 is the 2 or 5 finger checks , carried out just before take off. I do it all the time. The Razbam module replicates the systems really nicely and gives the indications you would expect as far as I can tell.
-
Yes You're welcome. Not sure if the changes are appreciated by all though....think some are getting the pitchforks and lynches ready! I think the performance factors are close enough now for a commercial sim, reducing it further is unnecessary in my opinion. One tweak that would be good is to somehow have the plane decelerate a bit quicker when going to hover stop because for RVLs and VLs the decel rate is too slow and you end up needing the braking stop to not overshoot or be too fast on an RVL. I am not talking about the decel rate for an overhead break, that is much better now than it was before. Are you talking about the RPM creep that happens at higher alts? I noticed it creeps up from 109% RPM at full power to something like 112-ish, and yes I did reduce the throttle to 109 when that happened.

Anyone manage to reduce or remove the clouds jitters ?
Bog9y replied to FZG_Immel's topic in Weather System Bugs & Problems
So far I have heard several people say they fixed it by one of the following methods, none of them worked for me though: 1) Change the cloud setting to LOW....then back to ULTRA 2) Change viewing distance to extreme 3) change PD in DCS to 1.2 or above 4) one guy said the jitters went away after 4 days, without doing anything at all. Again...none of this made a difference to me. I did a full reinstall of windows (due to a BSOD followed by a failure to boot into WIN), and clean install of DCS with no mods. The clouds are exactly the same as when i had a bunch of mods installed, still jittering, still bland puffs of white fluff with no definition. This is with a Reverb G1. -
[RESOLVED] missing keybinding "lights master switch - off"
Bog9y replied to felixx75's topic in Resolved Bugs
Ehm, the OFF command is already in the list, right above the commands that you posted a screenshot of.
