I used a UFC width of 131 for my build. This is just the UFC panel without the master caution/warning rows. I used this to calibrate all the other measurements of the main panel. I used to think it made the main panel a bit too narrow but I have just found some real AV8B videos on Youtube and now I'm thinking I wasn't too far off the real thing. That cockpit is not an A10 cadillac roomy style cockpit.

The MPCD screens are 5 x 5 inches. You could use that? But the UFC stick out by probably around 4 inches or so, so that may affect any measurements of that.

Am I right in saying that there are no key bindings / Axis assignments for any of the dials in the AV8 cockpit? I was looking to assign potentiometers to them but to my surprise they are not in the controls list. Is manipulating the LUA the only way to get around this? These are the ones I mean: - Formation lights brightness - HUD brightness - Video BRT - Video CONT - UFC brightness - EDP brightness - RWR control knob - Expendables Dispenser Control Knob - ECM (Electronic Countermeasure) Control Knob - ICS (Intercom System) Auxiliary Volume Knob - ECS (Environmental Control System) Cabin Temperature Controller Knob - Instruments Panel Brightness Knob - Flood Lights Brightness Knob - Warning/Caution Annunciator Lights Brightness Control Knob - Console Lights Brightness Knob

May I also add the following keybind missing: - Flaps BIT test It would also be good to have keybinds made for the 3 position switches to end in the middle if switch is not in fwd or aft position. For example like we have for the water or flap switch. The ones I can think of are -the Flap power switch - a/skid/nws/test - rps off/on/test - flap power reset/,on/off - landing light off/hvr/app - fuel boost pump switches - air refueling probe - AFC switch - dc test switch - bat switch - warn/caution lights test switch - ECS switches It would make programming for a cockpit build so much easier to have an "else off/ middle" command for a keybind. Thank you

Hi guys, did you ever figure out how to successfully fly a VNSL? I have just been practising these today and they are not easy to fly. One thing that made it easier is to configure early on downwind and fly level at the thrust/nozzle combo you decide on. Check air speed and make a mental note. Turning from 180 to 90 is where it gets messy for me but I found making small nozzle adjustments and 2 or 3% RPM (I know, its cheating I guess) make it more manageable.

Cool, thanks , I did find some good ones there. It looks like you got a pushbutton there for the flap BIT test however, there is no key combination under control options for the bit test. Did you modify the LUA to create one? -
Hi guys, I'm trying to get a key command for the FLAPS BIT test button in the AV8B so that I can assign it to my pit button. You can click the button in the game but there is no key command for it and it's not in the control options list at all. I saw the youtube about assigning new commands in the LUA files but I'm confused how to do it for the harrier because it looks different to the Viggen example in the video. I see there is a 38 (?) page thread above regarding LUA amendments but before I read through all of that is there a quick way to do this?

Before starting the engine we do a throttle quadrant check. I understand you want to check that the throttle is can move to max and the idle stop is functional but why do we switch the JPT limiter off for this check? I thought that the JPT limiter is just a software method of limiting the JPT?

Hi Rudel, wow, that file is very handy. Are they available for download and have you done this for other aircraft too? I have only been flying the F16 since I got into DCS, used to fly Falcon BMS. Although the DCS Viper is good and usable, the lack of features and some bugs have made it too frustrating to use for me. I decided to try the Harrier and see how that goes. I think as far as reality & completion, the main module for realism is the A10C, right? And perhaps the F14? If you do plan on making one for the AV8B I would be happy to help. Holbeach , are there many things that make the module frustrating to use? Does it differ a lot from the real manuals? I have only just done a full cockpit setup and startup, as far as I can tell it's all pretty accurate to the real thing.

Are you speaking from experience?
-
Hi guys, Just wondering , do you use the real AV8B manuals which are available online? I'm just curious how usable they are with the DCS module? I am just starting to learn the module and using those real manuals and was wondering if I am in for a frustrating and disappointing experience or are the manuals usable?

Yes, you're right , it actually does work. I must have been flying too slow when I was checking it. I've amended the title

Just reading through the NFM 000 and it says the 15 sec warning should come on at 765 degrees at the short lift dry temp or the short lift wet threshold of 780 degrees. So why does the sim 15 second warning start at 710? Isnt that for the 406 engine?

The AV8B flight manual states that there is a maneuvering tone when aoa exceeds 22 degrees and above 0.45 Mach / 225 kts. I dont think I've ever heard this tone in the DCS module. Is this simulated?

Hi guys, I saw an old thread which said that only some parts of these pages actually work. Is this still the case or are the pages fully functional?

I think the difference is probably because in this picture the UFC is shown the way it is in real life, it sticks out and is closer to your face than the main panel with the MFDs. In the AV8B manual I have it is shown without it sticking out and thus a better representation of its dimensions. Out of interest, where did you get this picture from? Which manual is it?

Did you include the caution/warning lights in your measurements? I didn't mine is just the width of the pushbutton section width

Moespeeds, where did you find those red push buttons for the NAV , A/G and STOL mode buttons? -
Does anybody know if it's possible to make the nozzle lever a little bit thicker? I accidentally bumped into mine and it broke, tried to amend the STL file in Fusion 360 to make the lever thicker but I don't know how to do it. Any ideas?

I just installed the red spring for my 15 cm extension. I love how it brings back a bit more resistance to the stick. However, I have 1 problem. The roll axis isn't centering perfectly now. It is off by a tiny amount. I tried taking the joystick apart and making sure everything is in place.I put it back together and it's still the same. Does anybody know how to fix this? I read that I can get TM warthog calibration software to calibrate to the new centre position but before j do that is there any other quick fix?

Same here but I did correlate the size to known measurement from the MFDs and it comes out at a width of around 130 to 134 mm. This 3d model has 134 so I guess that's good enough.
