I can prolly get it to work :) :music_whistling:

But there's no point if they change 3d Model, Material Names or UV Coordinates.

I have done a couple of skin mods to the original skin to see how it looks, but have not worked out how to get the game to recognise them. I have tried all the usual Liveries combinations, nothing works so far.

If anyone works out how to do it let us know please:

EDIT: Integrating to DCSW Resolved.

Download RAR, Extract and Place /F-86F Sabre/ Folder inside DCS World/Bazar/Liveries/

(Note I Only Provided the description.lua files to replace the main texture, if you need other material names let me know and I'll make a list.)

(Also might wanna drop your hi-res textures in place of the JPGs you provided)

attachment.php?attachmentid=102115&stc=1&d=1406945330

Also for those that want description.lua for all the materials (also Attached LUA), Also Commented and Put Descriptions of what each material is.:

(Please note, that the current build has no other liveries, so it loads the main textures, these material names are only good if nothing changes Textures wise during the beta).

(this description.lua was written by me, there isn't one in the 1.2.9 Beta, so your install is NOT missing files )

Damn, I tried that and it did not work for me, must have gotten something wrong in the lua.

I am refining both those skins a bit, the USAF version letters are all wrong and I need to add something to the SAAF. When I have done them I will upload them both to the site.

Will need to remove the in game numbering as well, that is easy enough to do.

Cheers mate.

I'm looking forward to this, too.

I've not done any DCS repaints yet (well, just a trainer scheme back in FC days) just FSX ones, but I'm very keen to start, using the Sabre.

Loads of nice RAF squadron schemes to do! :punk:

Yes,can't wait for new skins to appear, this is my favourite,'The HUFF' flown by Lt. Jim Thompson,it's quite a classic,I wonder how many versions we'll see of this one alone.I have uploaded here the real HUFF in Korea,Port,Starboard, profile and a diagram of decal placement.

I hope we also see very Hi Res versions to show off the DCS F86F in all it's splendour.

Really struggling to find a way to completely remove the F86 bort numbers.

I can remove the numbers using an empty.tga file but am left with a gray patch that the numbers are painted on to, so that patch hides anything that is painted onto the main aircraft skin under it.

Cannot find a way to remove that gray patch.

Anybody come up with a solution yet ?

Yes, make the alpha channel all black in those bort textures.

You misunderstand, the gray patch is a separate layer to the numbers file, it appears to be a different file from the bort numbers but I cannot figure out which file it is.

I have got rid of the numbers, I cannot get rid of the gray patch.

George

You are right, something else is covering the skin art underneath, I thought it was another layer but it's not that at all, sorry.

I am going to kick myself when I figure it out !!!!!!!

There's nothing covering the skin ;)

1. Open those bort textures (f-86f_bort_number.dds, f-86f_bort_number_tail.dds)

2. Make the alpha channel in both textures all black

3. Save as dds again (NOT DXT1 without alpha! If you get rid of the alpha channel, you'll get those grey patches)

4. Done

Hey Guys - a little something I got as a generous donation...my compliments to the author, Tigerwulf..

Thanks for your help mate but I am giving up on this for now, I have tried every combination of files you could possibly imagine, I am able to get rid of the bort numbers but something is still present that is hiding my new bort numbers underneath and I am damned if I can figure it out.

Dear SkateZilla ;)

I've followed your explanations but I have few texture's bugs :helpsmilie:

1a:

Here I can found my f-86f.zip: C:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\CoreMods\aircraft\F-86\Textures\f-86f.zip

2a:

Here where I can found my F-86F 3D model: C:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\CoreMods\aircraft\F-86\Shapes\f-86f.EDM

So:

1b:

After I've downloaded your textures file and unzip here: C:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Bazar\Liveries\F-86F Sabre

2b:

When I open my F-86F Sabre's folder I can found these two folders: CE_1 & CE_2

3b:

After this I launch my "Object Viewer" and I load my 3D model as you (f-86f.EDM), then I open the textures window and I can load your two files CE_1 and CE_2 as you again but I meet few problems and I would like to explain you these errors:

When I load my f-86f.EDM my Sabre is all orange and I can read "Missing textures", after when I load your textures files CE_1 and CE_2 I have few bugs with your repaints.

As it's not easy to explain I join you one little video and you can see my Missing Textures and also your repaints.

I know all these problems with the other old modules as the Huey because I've create the repaint for this copter but since the V-1.2.9 it's nor easy to undersand this new architecture :(

Here my video, I've used Fraps but for one reason that I can't understand when you watch my video you can't see the "3D model" window and the "Textures" window but you can watch my problem...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VAqk6f45YEY&feature=player_detailpage

Please can you explain to me where I have one error ? :worthy:

A great thanks in advance, Skull.

Are you using the Model Viewer Built into DCSWorld or the Standalone?

For the Model Viewer Built into DCSW, Add this line to the /Config/ModelViewer/autoexec.lua below the others.

mount_vfs_texture_path("CoreMods/aircraft/F-86/Textures/F-86F/")

or use the attached LUA

autoexec.lua
