The P-5 is just as efficient as the P-3, the only difference is that instead of giving up from the rail, it tries to do something... red_coreSix Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 Yes, they seem to have disabled the former already bad proximity fuses altogether now. I evaded 8 missiles in 10 seconds yesterday by just turning into them slightly, ETs, ERs, 73s. On a site note, gunning doesn't work as well anymore, since due to the new netcode targets are not where they are in game.
Bushmanni Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 Miss distances are larger than they used to be. All you need is a 6G pull do dodge AIM-120C fired from 8 NM away @20k. Proximity fuses fail occasionally also but most misses that I counted from ACMI were due to miss distance being about 90feet or more because the missile couldn't keep it's nose pointed to the intercept point. 90% of missile hits were due to proximity fuse so I don't think it's any worse than it used to be. Miss distance has increased for AIM-120C, AIM-9M, R-27ER and R-27ET by my experience (all the missiles I have used so far). I think this is a global phenomenon affecting all missiles. Ktulu2 Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 The problem also is on the fuze's side : yesterday I had aim-9s fly so close that I thought they were going to impact fuze (but in fact were just REALLY close) and didn't prox. fuze at all. AussieGhost789 Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 I've noticed an all around drop in missile performance with with the 1.5.4 patch as well. I don't have any hard data to back it up, but in dogfights and BVR practice that I do regularly with my squadron I have been consistently missing shots that previously would have been almost guaranteed hits, and I have been evading missiles that I was convinced were going to hit. It doesn't appear to be just the Russian missiles, but all of the ones I've seen so far. I thought I might have been going crazy, but I'm glad I wasn't the only one to notice. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Bushmanni Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 Most of the misses in my tests that previously should have hit had about 90 feet miss distance. From cockpit it looks almost a direct hit if you happen to see it but it's still two times farther or more than the fuze trigger distance which is 15 m for AIM-120C, 11 m for R-27 and 5 m for AIM-9/R-73 (DCS missile values). There were also some near misses that failed to trigger even when the distance was small enough but proximity fuze failure occurred only twice in about 40 hits. It's probably more than it used to be but not the main problem. DCS Finland: Suomalainen DCS yhteisö -- Finnish DCS community -------------------------------------------------- SF Squadron
NaCH Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 On MP the performance of the r27r, T and r73 are abismal. Against a A-10 I did shot from 12 km 4 27r all missed. At 8 km 2 T all missed. 3 km 2 r73 all missed. Now using the mirage not a single miss unless I loose track for the semiactive.

Winston 60 Posted July 11, 2016 Author Posted July 11, 2016 gavagai, yes this is pretty depressing. Strange there's no comment by ED on this issue and some other issues with the troublesome 1.5.4 release. I'm loosing interest in this version fast and may be rolling back to 1.5.3 soon or abandoning DCS temporarily for some other projects until this is attended to. Winston 60 Posted July 11, 2016 Author Posted July 11, 2016 ED rarely releases statements compared to 3rd parties, so it's not that surprising. Yes, but often an ED team member or beta tester will comment and acknowledge a bug as [reported]. There's been nothing on most of these issues. Maybe it's too early? or there are just too many issues/reports to communicate with us on this new 1.5.4 patch? Ktulu2 Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 This works for most of the sim's components, but missile has always been a Pandora box for ED so statements will be even less frequent (think about the 10^50 threads about missiles...all they got from ED was ''well...maybe we'll work on our guidance at some point''). That is of course assuming ED made missiles worst by accident... I do DCS videos on youtube : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAs8VxtXRJHZLnKS4mKunnQ?view_as=public

ED Team BIGNEWY Posted July 11, 2016 ED Team Posted July 11, 2016 It is not as easy as just changing a title, we actually have to look into the issue, find evidence / reproduce the issue and report with all of the information for the Devs. So dont think us not changing the title of a thread is an indication of us not looking into it. Redacuragsr Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 Wow, was just playing on line missiles seem to be completely useless. Most my on line engagement end up in gun fights.
Pâte Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 (edited) Hi guys i have a little question. I don't know for RU missile, i almost fly with the F15C with his 120C AMRAAM. And, this missile have a maximum range of 30NM, i do know it's the maximum range so the impact probability are low, but this missile can at least reach a target at 30N. So, is that normal that even in really good shot configuration, this missile miss the target in 50% of the case at a 9NM shot. I mean seriously, we can call it BVR ? 9NM ? It's not serious ... I'm not sure but at FC2 time, i remember that we could shot 120C at 16NM and splash the target. DCS disgusted me with those BVR fight that are since few month already so useless, just gave a new try last week ... things still the same if it's not worse. And i'm pretty sure that RU missile have the same issue, because i do remember that RU aircraft used to launch before my F-15C in BVR (arround 20NM), and they now shot at the same time (this stupid 10NM range). Honnestly it's getting me so bored of DCS to see my effective range getting lower and lower update after update, 16NM, then 13NM, now 9NM ... what's next ? 5NM ? And basicly in FALCON BMS, when someone launch a 120C on you at 9NM, you have to fight hard and you can pray to try escape. Edited July 12, 2016 by Pâte [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Ktulu2 Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 BVR is an utopia in DCS. usually 120s have a range of 10NM head on and maybe 3NM on a cold target that wants to defend. But as I've said its quite hard to convince ED on missile performance so...get that cannon ready. I do DCS videos on youtube : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAs8VxtXRJHZLnKS4mKunnQ?view_as=public
