The problem described in the linked topic is still happening in the latest open beta of DCS. The F-5s Tacan just seems to freeze randomly after a while and needs to be reset by turning the Tacan off and back on, otherwise the needles just won't move anymore.

Hi, I encountered a few bugs in the F/A-18 training mission named "HSI Overview and TACAN-ADF Navigation". 1) After pushing the HSI push button, VEC push button is highlighted without any explanation and - I believe - any meaning. 2) After the ADF explanation, one is asked to push the TCN push button which is claimed to be boxed afterwards. It is not boxed after this, this might be related to #3. 3) A few moments later, one is asked to enter 67X into the UFC, press ENT and spacebar afterwards. After doing so, the explanation continues to refer to things that should be visible on the HUD and HSI but they are NOT visible. They only become visible once the TCN push button is pressed on the left DDI. If the actual behavior is correct, the solution is to add the additional TCN button press. Thanks.

Does anybody know how to calculate TACAN frequncies to activate the beacon from lua ? I know it depends on channel, mode, type and AA ... but i have no idea how to calculate it. { ["enabled"] = true, ["auto"] = true, ["id"] = "WrappedAction", ["number"] = 2, ["params"] = { ["action"] = { ["id"] = "ActivateBeacon", ["params"] = { ["type"] = 4, ["AA"] = false, ["unitId"] = 676, ["modeChannel"] = "Y", ["channel"] = 1, ["system"] = 5, ["callsign"] = "ta1", ["bearing"] = true, ["frequency"] = 1088000000, }, -- end of ["params"] }, -- end of ["action"] }, -- end of ["params"] }

This statement by Wags no longer works in DCS. Track attached. The filtered channels work with no problems at all, and even achieve huge ranges. mids terminal bug.trk

Hi everyone, Another bug that's been around for quite some time, that appears similar to this bug, that was reported nearly 4 years ago. When the TACAN is tuned and placed into any T/R mode, the volume knob is completely non-functional, until the HSI displays the bearing and range, whereby it functions as you'd expect. (Fast forward to around 06:32:30 in the track for the TACAN test). F-5E-3_TACAN_Volume_Bug.miz.trk

I've been getting my hands dirty and having fun learning the ins/outs of mission editor. However, there's one issue that I cannot seem to solve. Which is getting range to show up when I have a tanker set to Y band in the advanced waypoint tacan settings. If I leave it on X band (ie - "41X"), bearing and range show up just fine. But as soon as I change it to Y band ("41Y"), the range no longer shows up. I've tested this with the hornet and the viper and the issue persists in both airframes. I even downloaded the Through The Inferno missions (where Y band tankers are working correctly) and confirmed that my tacan settings are setup just the same. So I'm at a loss on this one. I've attached a screenshot, in case it helps. I appreciate any input.

My squadron is going to do a Hornet navigation training session covering navigation. Anyone who wishes to attend is welcome, and the training will start from zero for those new to the jet. There will be a training mission included for some practical exercise, and the jets will be hot started. This will be the initial training session, and future training events will involve different weapons systems, different aircraft. It is recommended that you have a notebook/ pen to write down waypoints and take notes. Basics of using navigation in the Hornet. Setting and navigation to waypoints, creating mark points, lat / long/ and input of MGRS and precise coordinates. TACAN navigation, ADF navigation, and use of navigation points for weapons targeting. Here is a general invite to the AIN discord server: https://discord.gg/JuBydbsfDn Here is an invite to the event. https://discord.gg/rGptn5nWbM?event=996220721875402832 NOTE: I'm not a discord genius, if you can't access something on the discord server as it sometimes does weird things, just send me a message on discord (DSCROSS [AIN-1]) and I'll sort it for you. Best if you show up early in the discord so I can make sure you have a role before the training starts. You can send me a message on Discord or these forums if you have any questions.

In multi player, when WSO sets the TACAN, the Pilot's TACAN does not change.

Just a quick sanity check.. (LOL...that's dangerous where I am concerned...but I digress....) When turning on a TACAN and selecting TACAN steering in the HSI, I still get the pointer (Heading Command Bug) in the HUD pointing to the selected Steerpoint NOT the TACAN. Is this CORRECT AS IS? OR did I forget some setting. I get all the TACAN steering information in the HUD DATA block and the TACAN location and either CDI or PLAN CRS line in the HSI, only the HUD indicator is pointing elsewhere. Thanks.. EDIT: OOPS!!! RTFM!! (this is in the ADI section, but I assume it applies to the HUD as well) P age 217
