I have it installed in my \Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Mods\tech\Ranger Pack. So, you can get Air Force One to work without clogging up the rest of your airfield, can you tell me how you did it ?

I see the name of you folder in the Saved Games folder is DCS.openbeta. I have only one DCS folder in my Saved Games folder (named DCS) that I use for both versions. I wonder if that is a problem? I didn't think it would be since I want those files used by both versions. I only have the OB installed. The DCS.openbeta DIR was what was made when I installed it on this computer. So, you can get Air Force One to work without clogging up the rest of your airfield, can you tell me how you did it ? 01-28-2019 06:19 AM I'm not sure what to tell you, I haven't tried every airfield or all the maps but I just place 5 AF1 at Kobuleti, had an F-15E TO and a couple of vehicles driving around the AF1's and didn't seem to have a problem. If you have something I could try, I would be happy to give it a go ( I have all the maps ). FWIW the Ranger Pack is version 2.4.1 I just tried AF1 on the NV and PG maps and it's just like crazyeddie said, everything thing comes to a stop. On the Caucasus map AF1 seem to work ok. crazyeddie Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 I think its a problem with the collision shell, if you look at it in the latest ModelViewer its absolutely enormous, probably about 5 sq km or more, with another box moving around it, I have no idea what the second box is or what it does but the collision box must be the cause, and from what I understand you will need the max files to be able to sort that out. So its borked, and I think it will stay that way unless Ranger sorts it out.

Ranger's Pack requires it's Sounds folder content to be copied onto the main Program Files DCS folder; while the Ranger Pack folder can be placed at Saved games/dcs/mods/tech. It does not impact the Integrity Check. Cheers . Eventually got it working cause I tried installing it with OvGME and not manually. The mod is really great. Even though I couldn't relealise any new sounds due to it. It doesnt' matter, as I play DCS more often in off line mode, if the moders do not update ( many of them havn't given sign of life since years ) I will copy the actual version of the release on my HD and play with it, keeping the updated version ( when they will switch the release in 2.5.5) only for the online mode that I use one hour and half by week in a aerobatic team of L-39. But that means too that I can't buy future modules anymore since they will not run in 2.5.4. That isnt a reasonable solution, as you will be missing not only new planes, but items like the VR improvement, the new damage model, updates to other aircrafts, new items for the ww2 assets pack, etc, etc. At least the missions that use old mods can still be loaded on the ME and the obsolete objects can be replaced with placeholders or deleted, on order for our mission to still be used. Hopefully some of the lost mods will be updated, like the target range objcts of the 476th, and even if Ranger79 no longer has the time to update his Mod, maybe he can pass the 3D files over to other people who can carry on the necessary updates. .. but avoiding updates isn’t really an option, the Hawk case taught us that. I'm not a dev but perhaps ED could introduce a compatibility or giving us a tool to update the EDM ourselves. The problem is that lot of mods has been made by users that havn't given news on this forum since months or years. In exemple, the mod of this thread. As you say, some of them will update for the 2.5.5 ( I've read that the great Mustang works already on the lua) but I think we'd lost plenty of them. And the VPC-Airfield Equipment, made by Virpil, a controller seller, that I use intensively in the mission i'm making, I don't think that they will lost time to update their excellent mod but many items in this mod aren't working anymore with the 2.5.5. And the excellent mods of Uputaut with cargos and tents that I use intensively too, perhaps these one will be updated but it's not sure. And the boats like Mistrals or Bainbridge, Spruance, Durance and many others, I think that some of them will surely be updated but not all. When I read the forum, I can see that we are lot of users in this case and unhappy of this new situation. The question is how many unhappy users is needed to be listened by ED ? Most missions I`ve done are trash now. And meanwhile I only can revert to 2.5.4 but this can`t be the last solution. Let`s hope ED will listen to it`s customers. What goes up, must come down ! But in other hand, they must be aware that if some users have made mods, it's to overcome a lack of items that they havn't include. Some users do not need these missing objects but some other like me are wanting more realism in the landscape, on the airbases and airfields and seeing many objects having their full place to improve the visual realism and improve the pleasure we have by using DCS World. And suddenly, we must return to a basical landscape, including just the items ED has made. I'm sure that they know that some people having made these mods aren't on the forum anymore and that they know that these mods are used by many of us. A try to a backward compatibility would be welcome. If we are many people to express our dissatisfaction about that, they may try to see what they can do. dimitriov Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 Yup they know this, but what you need to understand is that older EDM formats (prior to plugin V10) weren't optimized at all for the new engine. You may have noticed that ED told in its Week End news that with the 2.5.5 they solved a memory leak issue... The sim has to evolve, modders come, leave, the sim remains. If they decided to spend a loooong time to convert all their EDM files in the last version, (cause there is no secret about this, it is one model after another, and in a model like a tank, you actually have 3 to 5 models with LODS, Collision etc so you have 5 times more work to do), it's because they had a very very good reason. Modders adapt or not, that's simple. It's not like if they made us impossible to mod the game, they simply evolved to a new standard, which happens every 10 years in this sim... Nicolas

And while some of you are expressing "dissatisfaction" because some mods don't work...some of us are appreciating the fact that we can fly 2-3 hour long sorties in a server together without someone in the group crashing to desktop...sorry not sorry. ED MUST do what's right for its customers. Notice I said customers...not modding community. The simple fact is if updating this game means some community mods are broken until their creators bring them up to the current standard... So be it.
