I just tried to load a sling load cargo and ...well nothing!

I couldn't get the "External Cargo camera" to show, it did not hook the Cargo (ok not sure I was in the right position), only the "auto-unhook" gave a message it was activated after I pressed that button.

Is there a step-by-step tutorial, apart from the one in the Flight manual?

Or is it not implemented yet?

I had similar problems,....

ok to get cargo to hook up u must hover land or be near the cargo to begin with, once u have done this,

bring up the radio comms \ , then select all cargos f6 , then select f1 in radio comms menu .

once you've selected the cargo, then go to external view , then select key commands right ctrl/ right shift and l key, you'll see the cargo being hooked up, now your ready to cargo lift.

for the cargo camera I have not been able to get this feature working yet myself.

simple mission with sling load to land beside hook up

Great! That's it!

The Cargo Cam works - you need to be in the air to activate it, after you called for the cargo with comms. If you are landed it doesn't activate...

I did bind the cam, hook/unhook and auto-unhook to the HOTAS.

Auto-unhook is nice, when the cargo touches the ground it unhooks.

EDIT: Sorry, can't rep you ("must spread... bla bla")

No joy on the cargo cam here. Are those of you who get it to work running windowed mode, by any chance? Something causes it to be unavailavble.

need to use the cargo menu first, then be "near" the cargo (2000m?) and high enough!

If you guy's are not already aware there is a bug with the cargo cam, if you don't turn it on before hooking up with your first cargo then it fails to turn on at all after that.

They are aware of the issue and apparently it has been fixed but the fix not released yet, I assume it will come as an update to 1.2.8 beta on on full release.

To narrow it down, let me rephrase my previous question: Those who do get it to work, are any of you running full-screen mode?

It works for me, and usually I am indeed running DCS in full-screen mode.

However, I just unchecked the "Full Screen" checkbox, restarted DCS, flew a test mission, and the cargo cam still worked.

So, as far as I can tell, full-screen mode doesn't have anything to do with it.

You activate the cargo through comms menu? Get near the cargo and high enough then activate cargo cam.

Hip the tea bag crane :)

The reason of posting this was me not able to make Mi8 pick a cargo during on-line flight.

I downloaded the mission posted by "Diveplane". Edited it and switched from UH1 to Mi8.

Started the mission from the mission editor. Took of, came closer to the cargo.

Picked the F6 > F1, switched to middle seat and very closely and steady flew over the cargo. When a message "hovering over a cargo" followed by "cargo hovered" showed up i knew i made it right. I picked the crates from the airfield and dropped them in some town, did a big circle to make F6 menu go off the menu, then flew over the area again just to get it back. Again radio menu > f6 > f1. Smoke mark shows up over the crate. Flew over it, hooked it the same as before ... conclusion IT WORKS.

The only thing I couldn't make working was the cargo cam view.

Had it under LSHIFT+LCTRL+C. Not sure if it is because of my editing or is it a default (BUG) but the same key binding is for one of the Mi8 doors. Anyway i changed the key mapping to RSHIFT+RCTRL+C but still the cargo cam view isn't working for Mi8 (if there is one implemented).

Anyway, there are on-line games hosting the "tea-bag" missions but some of them simply do not display the F6 radio menu entry... :( Is it because the cargo crates initial location isn't the friendly airport / farp ?

Hope it helps to anyone who stuck with Mi8.

What's the latest word on this cargo cam issue with the Hip? I have never been able to get it to work. Is it still disabled? I thought I saw a post dating back to 2014 where BST replaced the cargo cam with a cargo HUD similar to the one for controls (that appears in the upper left corner). Is this also disabled?
