Essah Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 So I realize that ED does not regular or decide which aircrafts 3rd party developers can create but look the split between era's we're gonna end up with World war 2 P-51 Fw-190D9 Korea F-86F Vietnam UH-1H AH-1G MiG-21 (but no F-4) mid to late Cold war is the only well represented era, having basically all FC3 aircrafts as well as fitting in. UH-1H MiG-21 Ka-50 A-10C (without TGP as stand in for the A model) Mi-24 Hind to be developed in the future by Belsimtek Modern day A-10C Wouldn't it make sense to focus on the cold war, or at least pick a single other era to develop for rather than splitting it like this. Trying to integrate a P-51, F-86, MiG-21 and A-10C in the same mission just doesn't work that well. (so don't) - Well yeah, but the whole point of having a variety of aircraft is that fly them together no? 1

The lack of WWI aircraft is really a glaring omission. Flogger23m Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 (edited) Developers should make 80s-current equipment. Some 1970s stuff is okay, but starts feeling out of place. DCS should be a combat simulator, not simply a flight sim (like FSX). Hard to engage in combat when there are no other time period units to fight with/against. If someone has to develop an older plane, why not do something like the F-5E? It fits well into the 1980-90s time frame, will soon have a comparable aircraft to fight against (MiG-21Bis) and fits in with units like the HAWK, M60 ect. A much better option than making an F-86 and waiting 4-5 years for 1950s era units to start populating the game. Edited April 10, 2014 by Flogger23m

It seems like everyone who's complaining about the diversity of DCS have ignored reading what DCS is, because they complain about one of the selling points.
