Mike Busutil Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 While we wait for the LS MiG-21 I thought I would share some of my pictures I took of some dead Iraqi MiG's and other aircraft. I did a deployment in 2006 to Habbaniyah Iraq. (Approximately 10 miles west of Fallujah) Bullet holes... Two seater Front cockpit I took a mach gauge from this MiG-21 to bring home and have in my office. But when I left Iraq "they" told me I was not allowed to keep it as it was a "prize of war" or something like that. They kept it during my packout... Too bad because that would of been really cool to have. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Checkout my user files here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/filter/user-is-Mike Busutil/apply/
Mike Busutil Posted May 7, 2014 Author Posted May 7, 2014 (edited) A few more... From a distance I thought this was a Zero! But after a closer look I believe it is a Percival Provost T1 Edited May 7, 2014 by Mike Busutil [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Checkout my user files here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/filter/user-is-Mike Busutil/apply/
Zakatak Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 (edited) If only this module came out sooner, you could have fixed one up and flown it back home yourself! :P Also, Rosebud was his MiG. Edited May 7, 2014 by Zakatak
McBlemmen Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 In a way , thats pretty scary... I do like the "saddam's air force one" though
Jonnio Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Great pictures, I would've tried to snag a souvenir from one of them. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Vitesse2l Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Some western aircraft in there too. Third one down was a vampire? Twin tail booms. Very old... Great pics.

Haukka81 Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 There is something in these pictures that makes me go bit sad. Maybe its just to see fighter aircrafts in so bad shape just left to open for ever. Oculus CV1, Odyssey, Pimax 5k+ (i5 8400, 24gb ddr4 3000mhz, 1080Ti OC ) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

stokerel Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 (edited) Beautiful pics but heartbreaking to see state those birds came to. The Vampire pic is amazing, bomb still attached - I assume it's a training round. In the Tucson boneyard, just browsing the pics on google, look what I found: They certainly look like F15s to me  Edited May 7, 2014 by stokerel
Grim_Smiles Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 "ROSEBUD". You owe me a new keyboard. :D LOL I loved that one as well. I took a mach gauge from the Black MiG-21 to bring home and have in my office. WWII we had soldiers bringing back Lugers, these days you can't even bring home a fountain pen you found on the ground. It isn't like you were walking away with Babylonian pottery, shame they didn't let you keep the gauge. In Vietnam, I've read at least one account of how official regulations allowed anything up to an SKS rifle to be sent home by mail.
Vitesse2l Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 (edited) I'm thinking the Vampire may actually be a Venom, according to this page, and the shape of the intake http://www.acig.org/artman/publish/article_207.shtml Also, I like that the 2-seater cockpit pic has English labels. I think most of the Iraqi MiG-21s had English text. Not sure about the MiG-29s

MiG21bisFishbedL Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Actually, aren't most of those J-7 IIs as opposed to actual MiGs? Reformers hate him! This one weird trick found by a bush pilot will make gunfighter obsessed old farts angry at your multi-role carrier deck line up!
