aaron886 Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Its a Partner, and separate from ED, even though they work closely together. Yes, but that's very different from the other 3rd parties, to be fair. It's a bad comparison though and seems to me like this thread is here mostly to stir "stuff" up.

ericoh Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Well, they certainly have established themselfs in my head. Cranking out modules that are of great quality!
Art-J Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 While we're at it, can somebody in-the-know help a novice user and describe in a few words what the difference between "partner" and "3rd party" actually is? I've read on these forums a few educated (or not so) guesses on the subject, but nobody seems to be 100% certain what they're talking about :D. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.

Flagrum Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 (edited) While we're at it, can somebody in-the-know help a novice user and describe in a few words what the difference between "partner" and "3rd party" actually is? I've read on these forums a few educated (or not so) guesses on the subject, but nobody seems to be 100% certain what they're talking about :D. 3rd party dev = independend group of developers, no direct connection to ED besides using DCS World as platform (yes, ED helps them in some ways, I guess, answers questions, etc.) partner = 3rd party dev with a somewhat closer connection to ED. They help eachother in various projects ("borrow" developers & artists, etc.) Afaik only BST is a "partner" in this sense and this relation stems from their history with ED. My understanding is that ED hires (also) freelancers and some of those freelancers got together one day and founded BST. edit: Of course this all is only just another guess and I doubt we will ever really get an official definition of both terms as the exact nature of the relations between ED and others is subject to the respective NDAs.
