theGozr Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 SkateZilla, " So a Small FPS Decrease " Are you serious to call this a small hit ? it's important to optimize and not letting it pass. no this is a serious problem and it should of been seriously taken in consideration.. this remind me of the first Lockon no one could run it .. it took 10 years to do so basically and we shouldn't wait that long again. i am rough about this but this is serious if we ALL want to enjoy the flight sim and to have new comers. The MiG-21 is very well done and a great work but now ot's the optimization that should be adressed Fly it like you stole it..
theGozr Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 (edited) This post is not made to hurt feelings but just a serious matter and criticism to obtain a better product to our actual hardware. I'm not here to rub no body's back but tell how it is in our end. While testing beta or Alpha the tester should be frank to every angles to have the best performances on programs and graphics optimization. We all know how difficult and time consuming and beauty this aircraft is. no doubt I cannot give any flight model input or review with this low fps that can affect the aircraft negatively unless lowering all graphics to a minimum like on the tests reviews we all saw online from beta testers or reviewers. lacking to tell about low fps make me doubt. If someone give me an aircraft to test I'll tell how it is directly for the best results with the appropriate settings etc. In the other hands i'm very excited by the MiG-21 and the up coming MiG-15 which i have experience with and hopefully this will be optimize soon. YoYo Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Btw. for me its ok with FPS, like in unpublic beta version, near 45 on the ground, 55-60 (60 is blocked) in the air, but for sure, it depences from the spec. DCS on the fast SSD too. Cobra847 Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 So something has happened in the last few builds, and performance was higher in the promo versions of the past weeks, or? We've always wanted to optimize the artwork a bit more. That said, we never experienced anyone having as low as 10fps, in any situation. We're urgently looking at performance to ensure that everyone has a better experience. 1 Nicholas Dackard Founder & Lead Artist Heatblur Simulations https://www.facebook.com/heatblur/

theGozr Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 @Art-J.. Gozr - probably because only minority of folks have FFB sticks? Notice that most (if not all) youtube previewers used Warthogs or similar gear. Keeping modern software compatible with the old Microsoft FFB (no matter how good it is) is going to be a problem. Ok here a very good example. DCS is aiming to be complex and great simulation. I know people that had Cougar's, warthogs and what do they have today ? well they keep their great throttles and use a FFB M$ or G940 etc,. if you want the most fidelity with an virtual aircraft you should invest into good gears that can simulate more or less some forces since those forces are very important on an aircraft in RL. and .. DCS should never alienate FFB's and more sophisticated hardware. You always do the best to cover all . I hope I make some sens. Fly it like you stole it..
Darkwolf Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I can place 50 aircraft on an airfield without issue. Placed 4 Mig 21 as object on the AF..... 2 to 4 FPS at landing. Got a AMD R7 X260. My performance aren't the best however i can fly in every condition, except if they is more than 2 Mig21 in the screen. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] PC simulator news site. uboats Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Very interesting. And I'm also working on the cockpit texture, my modified dds files (especially text, since current eng cockpit still has rus) worked better (visual effect) on unpublic version than on this formal release as well. audax Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I can probably live with that. Wasteland 2 release is tomorrow so I can wait a few more days ;)
bumfire Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Everyones jumping to conclusions that dcs mig 21 bis is to blame for the low fps, couldnt it be caused by the new patch that was installed before mig 21 itself could be installed and played with ? Just a thought...

Lilkiki Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 New patch on other craft run very smooth! :) Nop, Mi-8 is still very hard on frames ;) (but that's another subject) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
theGozr Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 (edited) True I was going to write this as well :) LOL The Mi-8MTV2 have low fps as well. >>> lots of buttons, gauges Edited September 17, 2014 by theGozr Fly it like you stole it..
roob Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I tried it out before, training startup mission and had lower fps than usual. It was particularly noticable when the two hinds flew past and when I later came in for landing it was really stuttering. Evwn turned graphics to what I consider medium. 1680x1050, no AA. i5 2500K, 280X 3GB, 8GB RAM, SSD, Win7. Don't know about FFB settings. My DCS stream [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Past broadcasts, Highlights Currently too much to do... But watch and (maybe) learn something :)
otto Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Fps is lower indeed(17-20 cockpit) but playable. I didn't try more than one Mig on the same map though. Everything else about the 21 is excellent.
mjeh Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 For me FPS was kinda low in the cold start training mission, but this was due to number of objects near you when you start out. As soon as I took off and left the airfield FPS was as normal for any DCS module.
xcom Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Issues with performance due to mig21 that I've noticed so far : 1. Reduced FPS in the cockpit compared to other modules. 2. Freezes with many airplanes in the area, particularly other mig21s, in motion or static.
