HiJack Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Already posted this in Sabres thread and waiting for reply...Will PM you if I here something. Does anyone know if I can delete the old "aircrafts" folder without messing up my install? There are still two subfolders (P51, A-10C) but I have a feeling that they are no longer needed :music_whistling: I renamed mine to "aircrafts_old" and it seems to work fine.
Bravo020 Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I renamed mine to "aircrafts_old" and it seems to work fine. Do your campaigns work as expected? A number of users are seeing instances where the selected aircraft does not match the aircraft you are actually flying in. e.g. FC3 F-15 becomes a Su-27, or Su-27 becomes a MiG-29S. Not sure if you have FC3 installed or not, but you might find that there are still some issues under the hood with this update.
bad-andy Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I had completed the A10C paid Basic Flight Training Campaign missions 1 - 4, after the update the paid campaigns were gone. I have the campaigns back now, but they show inactive and want to start me back at 1. Anyone know how to fix this and get me back on track. I would appreciate any help. Thanks To get my campaigns back I copied all the files from: \Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircrafts\A-10C\Missions\EN\Campaigns To: \Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\A-10C\Missions\EN\Campaigns Still lost my progress but I can continue the Basic Flight Training as there are "practice missions" that are the same mission only a bit quicker as they are air starts vs. timed ramp starts. You still get a Q+ or Q- rating. When I start the Advanced Flight Training Campaign I'll be sure not to update anything. Sabre-TLA Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Just posted to our Flight Qualification thread a method for setting the campaign stage. You shouldn't have to repeat missions you have already completed. MapleFlagMissions - Read Our Blog for Updates
bad-andy Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 I got it working, although it was by changing this line ["mission"] = "BFT06 Advanced Handling.miz",Changing the stage had no effect, I had already got it working and went back and tried your solution but with no joy. Will it continue to work? That I'll have to find out after clearing this mission, won't know till tomorrow, burned out for today. iceman14555 Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 The problem I'm having is that some of my mods work and other's don't. I've checked the directories and made sure everything lines up; I've even re-installed them. They must not work in this version of DCS, I guess.
Spasticatedtoad Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 (edited) Not to mention that the new update will wipe all of your Previous Missions, Tack Files and all. I didnt realize this update would do this, but I should have known better. You should never update anything on a PC unless you have a recent backup. I fall for it all the time. I'm hoping I 'just haven't found them yet ', but I am not liking my chances :( EDIT: Doh! I found them :) I knew I should have looked a little further before looking so foolish. My mistake. All is good.Except I'm still a fool :) Edited September 18, 2014 by Spasticatedtoad
Noj Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 I'm thinking this may all change again - or other significant changes be made - when DCSW v2.0 comes out - so wth?

Will it continue to work? That I'll have to find out after clearing this mission, won't know till tomorrow, burned out for today. Thanks Well this seems to have worked, I passed BFT06 Advanced Handling and the campaign went on to the next mission - BFT07 Aerobatics :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] MB GIGABYTE | GA-Z68XP-UD3P Z68 R __ VGA XFX | HD-695X-ZNFC HD6950 1G R PSU CORSAIR | 750W CMPSU-750TXV2 R __ CPU INTEL|CORE I7 2600K 3.4G 8M R MEM 16G|GSKILL F3-10666CL9D-8GBSR __ HDD 1T|WD WD10EARX SATA6G 64M % MNTR ASUS|LCD 23" 2MS VH236H RT __ Xbox 360 USB GamepadIf you're going through hell, keep going. ~ Winston Churchill
Dav IRL Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 I'm thinking this may all change again - or other significant changes be made - when DCSW v2.0 comes out - so wth? I agree it's all going to go crazy in 2.0 so best hang up your pit until then 4.8 I7, 1080, TMW&T, SSD, VKB MK.IV.
Fakum Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Thats the issue, putting DCS on the shelf until resolve. Not a pleasing thought. I was unable to fly last night without updating because I could not connect to master, I updated and was able to connect to multiplayer but I cant fly because of problems the update caused me. I was going to wait and see what happens, but there is no indication other than ASAP as to when to expect something,,,,, Windows 10 Pro - 64 Bit / ASUS ROG Strix B650E-F Gaming / AMD 7800X3D / G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO 64GB DDR5 6000 Ram / SSD M.2 SK hynix Platinum P41 2TB / MSI Gaming GeForce RTX 4090 SUPRIM Liquid X 24G / SteelSeries Arctis 7 Headset /LG-Ultragear 38" IPS LED Ultrawide HD Monitor (3840 x 1600) / Track IR4 / Thrustmaster TPR Pendular Rudder Pedals / Virpil HOTAS VPC Constellation ALPHA-R & VPC MongoosT-50CM3 Throttle
CookPassBabtridge Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 (edited) Hi I only play offline at the moment as I am learning (mostly practicing take offs, landings etc) and will not be jumping into MP imminently. Given the issues with the update, is the recommendation to hold off installing it for now? Any word on when it might be "safe"? :) EDIT: Ehhh should have read post above me lol Edited September 19, 2014 by CookPassBabtridge [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] I LIKE TO PLAY PRODIGAL WOMBAT STIMULATOR

An airplane by it's nature wants to fly, and if not interfered with too strongly by unusual events or by a deliberately incompetent pilot, it will fly. A helicopter does not want to fly. It is maintained in the air by a variety of forces in opposition to each other, and if there is any disturbance in this delicate balance the helicopter stops flying; immediately and disastrously.
klem Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 grrrrr...... Why do DCS insist on wiping our input files, it would be a simple matter for the update to at least rename the Input folder to Input_Old and then at least we'd have our settings preserved. I just discovered that elsewhere but apparently these are not stored automatically by DCS. Flagrum Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 I just discovered that elsewhere but apparently these are not stored automatically by DCS. I have to save them myself in an HTML file? No, DCS saves the files when you click "OK" at the controller config screen.

Skitter Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 If you use "Easy monitor" then you can go to the registry and change the "Path" inside HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World. Default is "C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircrafts\A-10C" change it to "(...)aircraft\A-10C". My exported MFCDs are back.
DieHard Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 (edited) If you run Mods your folders i.e. aircrafts to aircraft have been renamed to correct English syntax's.:music_whistling: check all your folders structures there's been substantial renaming. :joystick: All my mods are messed up. My mod icons are no longer in the opening screen and in Options / Controls none of my mods are in the aircraft listing. Awhile ago, I copied my main directory, then modded it and placed all my mods in it, separate from the main directory. Then I also made a copy of my modded directory as backup. My copy still works ok, it was not updated. I mod long hand. Almost every time there is an update it messes my mods up and my Options/Controls settings that are in the Users/Saved Games files for each aircraft. (later edit) Simple fix for me. My mods I have are self contained under Mods/aircrafts . I just dragged and dropped each aircraft folder such as Iberian's F-16 mod or the F-4 mod into the new "aircraft" folder. Some of the controls had to be reset that are stashed in Users/Saved Games. Iberian's F-16 works ok on his MP server. Some of my mods only will work in missions I create in Mission Editor as nobody seems to have some of my mods in MP. So what happens with the older "aircrafts" sub-folder? Is this now just ignored? Gee, just one letter difference to identify the two folders' differences unique identifier? I would think that has the potential to suffer one of Murphy's corollaries. Maybe in hexadecimal the change is more unique? Edited September 21, 2014 by DieHard [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
