Exactly the biggest potential of DCS is multiplayer.

The majority of customers do not play MP, so of course MP has the greatest potential to grow.

Interview with Leatherneck Studios

you can see lots of player in BF3/4 or arma2/3 work together in a vehicle on the server.

the player of morden combat simulator won't be a single wolf, should be do more team work .

I think Ed need to improve user's online experience, and let's poliet fly together and do more interesting.

Very valid points. I used to have a line of people that would jump at the opportunity to repair for me in a Little Bird when I hopped into some servers on BF4. I was always shocked that people were willing to do it because it seems boring to me, but it's good fun just to be along for the ride for some people. I'm definitely more of a Maverick than a Goose, but there are plenty of Goose's out there and I agree it would really enhance the MP experience.

PS - I want Blaze to be my Goose.

You are wrong then.

Yep. I fly a lot more SP than MP, and for me it´s also a lot about immersion, not only technical workings. If there´s an AI RIO the "perfect" case will exaggerated be when it feels like Anthony Edwards himself is sitting back there, if you get what I mean. :P

I´m already very disappointed with the mute AI gunners and Co-Pilot in the Huey, just controlled by that panel displayed on the screen destroying the imagination of sitting in the cockpit. They should yell when they see targets or the chopper is under fire, requesting permission to shoot etc. Maybe even let out a litle "Get some !!" when the barrels of the minigun are already glowing red, lol...

And we can map the intercom button to the joystick but control the AI crew by a panel ? Hmm, disappointing somehow. Yes, the Huey is not by Leatherneck, I know but you get what I mean how I´d like AI crew to be. It should feel a bit more like a "real" crewmember, not so lifeless.

Hard to explain in a foreign language...

The USMC flew both of those extensively, so no. They'd also be really out of place since they'd have absolutely nothing to fight. Nothing is even proposed for them to fight yet afaik.

That didn't stop us from getting the P-51D, however.

And a great way to lose a bunch of potential customers , too

How would they lose customers though? All aircraft LN could do have their own market and while some overlap to an extent, there is no way you can prove that a Tomcat (or Navy Phantom IIs, apparently) would sell worse overall that a single seat jet/two seater with dual flight controls.

I'm just saying though, if they made an F-14, I'd probably buy two copies and hand one to a joystick-less friend to be my R2D2.

But it's pretty much a given that a Tomcat/Phantom without backseat AI would sell worse than the same Tomcat/Phantom with backseat AI. That's what I believe McBlemmen was trying to say.

How many people, interested in DCS, lack a joystick?

He makes a valid point; with the time and effort it'd take to model such a complex aircraft, they'd want the possibility of a decent return on investment.

Having an AI RIO would go a long way to protecting that.

Ugh, I'm an idiot, I failed to see what he was replying to. Yeah, no AI functionality would be bad.

Statements made just 6 months ago may not apply anymore. And/or were intended to clarify how difficult something can really be. :P

:smilewink:True but that wasn't the entirety of that post. I very much agree with Buckeye that this current comment of yours doesn't rule out an F-14 anymore, but it seems pretty clear to me by your wording in that 6 month old post that "DCS: LN Next" wasn't going to be an F-4. But I shall cease messing with the marionette strings now, some still have hope for you to feed upon.

Unfortunately I think it takes about equal effort to make a good AI RIO as building the aircraft itself. I'd rather call it impossible though, but that's just by my understanding of good.

If you want F-14 Tomcat, contact IRIS company. They were working on F-14A for DCS. I've heard they are still active and working on it but very slowly. I would like to know actual condition of this module.

Guys dont put developer companies against each other, there so many birds which can be modelled and be useful in MP combat.

AI will always be simplified... he will not push real buttons. If he can fly a plane like F15C and can be improved a bit than is OK. He just needs to talk what he sees and execute commands.

ED is going to add multi crew with the upcoming L39 so F4E or a F14 is doable from this perspective.

What I would love is a way to give voice com to AI. Example when I press radio button and I say "RIO radar off!" I would like it to understand and turn off the darn thing :)

Implementing a voice recognition module would not be that hard these days... maybe?

I wouldn't buy DCS level F-14 without AI RIO, so I hope they will implement it at least on some basic level. Voice recognition would be cool to have to give commands, but a third party soft like VAC can do the job.

Maybe, but DCS is already complex and many people would benefit from having it integrated. Also VAC doesn't work with HOTAS... you need to press keys on keyboard to give a command.

If I am allowed to add this little sideline comment on voice recognition: If it was incorperated into the module itselfe, it would allow to design a more elaborate player-AI interface than would be possible with the traditional keyboard menus (or external VAC activated keyboard menu). I am thinking of descriptive commands ("target second from the right"), and a lot more commands total. If LNS is pioneering in two-seater development (other than trainers with a joyride seat), then this might be a worthwhile feature.

My personal opinion on this matter is that I think the aircraft may be the A-7. It supplemented and replaced the A-4 which was flown by the Marine Corps but the A-7 was not flown by the Marine Corps even though it make sense for them to have flown it given its role.

Other possibilities that might be true would be an F-14 Tomcat as stated by others but it would be a huge challenge to overcome. An F-4J might also be the answer because the Marines flew only the F-4B and its derivatives like the RF-4B.

Hope this is helpful,

Eagle

How would the A-7 pass the "F-4 is missing one digit" clue though?

...and how can a digit be a letter according to rudel? Was he referring to unicode value ? :P

Cobra told me on another forum:

digits are usually numbers. (Don't listen to Rudel. I think.) I'm going to be really quiet now, until we announce :p
