Dcs World 1.2.12 main update released

 

i tried to update main Dcs World and it has downloaded 3gb.

it wasnt announced but it seems main update released :)

is there anyone tried to download?

now mine is 1.2.12.24915

I have an issue with the main update, he doesn't copy the files from the updated Open Beta, and start over to download again 3GB.

 

The very smart feature that check for other updated istallation on disk stop working??

 

this is normal because we have two different installation location.

They mentioned a Drop down menu for the Mig-21 to change the cockpit but icant find how to change =P.

Ive gone into options / special and checked the Custom cockpit box but then what? how to i select the cockpit i want.

Currently its checkbox not list, it may be mis announced

This is actually a product of the way cockpits in DCS are drawn - it has been flagged for years, present since Lock On, and will take a major reworking of Cockpit rendering technique to fix. I personally hate it too.

Does this mean that it will still be present in EDGE? I thought that EDGE was the perfect opportunity to fix bugs that where caused by old technology.

DCS 1.2.12 HIDDEN CHANGES

 

Ok well last night myself and a few other Mercs where checking out this new update which has been flawless minus some mods not working anymore. Well we've noticed some new graphical changes not specifically listed in the change log. Add more if you see more

 

explosions have new way better graphical effects

 

explosions have a concussion wake upon impact

 

factory smoke is new and more epic

 

also almost feels like the physics have changed or been tweaked with weapon drag and such. Something just feels better? Its more noticeable i believe in 3D

 

You find more changes please list them as this was a very good update to hold us over until Dcs 2.0

I just updated game to newest patch (had 1st .12 now update for .12).

 

Controls disappeared, any of them. O_o

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

It isn't caused the graphics engine really, it is the technique used to overlay the very detailed 3D cockpit over the normal 3D model in the world. The cockpit model is only ever drawn in the F1 view as it is very Polygon intensive.

 

One fix would be to merge the Cockpit model into the main 3d model - However the polygons used for each aircraft then would likely cripple most computers. A better fix could possibly be for the Cockpit model to react to outside light sources too, the line might not appear then?

 

Either way there are no easy fixes due to the current architecture.

Odd I always assumed it was just a near clipping setting somewhere.

Factory smoke slows down my system to 1-5 fps. With previous version fps were constant around 50-70 even if factory smoke was displayed.

I think this is unacceptable.

 

System specs:

Intel i5 2500k @ 4.5Ghz

Is this while flying through the smoke or viewing at a distance?

It gets worse the closer you are to the factory or when there's smoke displayed on the TGP. I guess it's because smoke takes up space on the screen.

 

I have to say that the factory it's the one named Workshop-A in the mission editor.

the new workshop-A smoke is a complete system killer and can be seen at more than 20km away if not more. Mustang, if you wanna see for yourself, go into the http://www.dcsmercenaries.com training server there jump into one of the blue side ground attack crafts and just look north of KC there and you will see the smoke of doom. haha

Well maybe but I think allot of those effects in this older engine are taken care of by the processor right? Hence edge is offloading all of that fancy fx and other graphical goodness to the graphic cards? Looking for tester and official input on this.
