Who not have the buggy DCS world 2 on the open beta testing, and the current version on the release version of the game? im pretty sure most people that would be using the open beta client understands that there will be lots of crashes and bugs.

You'd be surprised at how many dont understand. Regardless, ED wants to get it to a certain quality level before it goes public.

How about a closed beta for users registered before an arbitrary date. Say, I dunno, just off the top of my head, users registered before august 2006? :music_whistling::smartass:

So just to clarify, some areas of the actual Nevada Test and Training Range will be lower resolution (not complaining just going off of the updated image in post 1). The yellow outline is outside of the Med/High area Wags identified.

in the youtube video Los Vegas looks amazing - low rez stuff on the edges doesn't bother me at all, i mean how much resolution do we need for salt flats and sand?

Did I complain, no I clarified because a few MP organizations plan to use all the NTTR ranges and populate them correctly (range circles, targets, etc). I was simply informing people what portions of the actual range wouldn't be high/med textures. I'm not going to be flying an A-10 over Las Vegas very often.

I am more interested in the explosion effects. Nothing has been shown for this yet. Wondering if it is just going to be the same?

 

They are working on all effects as far as I know. Its stated in the first post that we will get improved effects as well, we have seen some improvements in videos released by ED already.

I think Snoopy is referring to the limited value of a high-res Las Vegas for combat training exercises.

Yes, Las Vegas will be much better for real combat missions ;)

 

As for the areas outside the red box, there is a possibility there will be medium detail areas there as well... but we dont know all the details yet... no pun intended.

You are a fighter pilot, it doesnt matter to you as everything is blurry anyways, but step in helicopter pilot shoes and you are soon in low level admiring those textures. Or get to CA module and start driving around and you really are soon in experience that you are at billiard board.

 

That is my negativity for current map as well as everything is almost flat if not going to mountains and then it is again the same.

 

We need more small height alterations and sharper textures for low level.

FYI, Wags let me know that the areas highlighted by Snoopy are indeed Medium detail.
