Wags stated in one of his videos that this is a work-in-progress. In the NTTR map, trees around the urban areas will be collidable. Trees in the rural areas will not be collidable in the initial release of DCS World 1.5/2.0 while ED tries to optimize performance. And all trees will be see-through for the time being until, again, ED can optimize performance. But they are working on it. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like anything will be done for the Black Sea map for the near future.

^ Exactly as I recall Wags speaking on the matter.

I've finally gotten the strength to re-learn the A10C again and am thoroughly enjoying it. No matter what other a/c gets released (save for the FA/18 when it eventually gets released), nothing is as technically challenging and yet fulfilling as properly employing the A10C on the battlefield....and this has all come about because of the upcoming NTTR map. After having watched the gulf wars and afghanistan on tv...I can't imagine A10s OUT of sand! lol.

So still "see-through" trees mostly? Game breaker, immersion killer. Point. I will still have to wait for my return to DCS then, never got used to this annoying fact back with Black Shark and I was really looking forward to DCS 2.0 using finally "non-see-through" trees. What a bummer...

1.5 beta will be released later this month (yay!) and 2.0 probably in November I'd assume as Nevada should be released in November.

Yes, Wags mentioned they will check if they can also block AI line of sight and make weapons collide with trees.

I hope they manage to implement that, otherwise collideable trees are a joke. Like hiding by pulling a black bag over your head.

(except in MP, at least it kind of helps there).

Well Matt also mentioned in one of his videos that the main problem stopping them implementing this is the amount of calculations required to make hundreds of thousands of trees collidable and block AI line of sight, which would have unacceptable impact on performance of the sim. So unless they find some clever trick to make it way less demanding on CPU it's unlikely that it's going to change soon.

For weapons and sensors, an area system would work I guess.

Each area with trees assigned with a probability (depending on trees density) of sensor obstruction and weapon collision.

Better than nothing...

Not a bad idea at all, it'd suck to have a bmp in a tiny clearing lased in the shkval perfectly though just to have it clip the edge of the "forested area" due to the angle of the launch though. It'd have to be a really tight system.

One way to cut down on individual trees is a 'block' of forest, like a single object, with a single collision model and perhaps surround it with individual trees - or even not. The downside is impenetrable forest if you are in a tank. No Ardennes forest break-through on the Normandy map (if it reaches that far).

Has it been mentioned if the civilian traffic will be scaleable like we have now? And also are there any rail lines running through Nevada in the area covered by the new map?

How do I install DCS world 2, I just bought it but I don't see it in game?

They made a mistake in the NTTR map, it says "Murrage"!

When does it come out?

Can it work on my system?

I like pandas

Will it work on Steam?

What about tree collision now?

Do we have to rebuy the game?

But I prefer koalas

Hey, Sith, maybe a quick FAQ might be nice somewhere on the forum on DCS World 1.5/2.0 and NTTR. I fear a lot of time will be spent answering the same things over and over over the next few months.

Pardon the off-topic suggestion :pirate:

The Murrage, is as it is, Los Vegas is a copyrighted city. to avoid this and also copyright infringements on architecture as well in the USA. our nation has become a place for capitalist pigs to sue for everything under the sun.
