of course TKs (friendly-fire - blue-on-blue) happens in real-world

but DCS is full of "non real world" features to facilitate the "game" aspects of this SIMULATION (labels, visual enhancements, the SCOREboard, instant and perfect BDA via chat msg log, the ability to oh say RESPAWN....... etc etc etc)

i'm just here to say.. TKs are annoying and this is an idea that could go a long way to curtailing it

just an idea guys

Im with you if it happens repeatedly, as i said, but im ok with it being a possibility, just as in the real world, until it becomes a recurring problem.

each time the pilots shot down different, today we are in a pair of runs over the target, the Ka-50 & Su-25T, but flew the friendly A-10C and knocked us both. I understand that some do not have a brain, but when it happens again and again, the desire to fly disappears

Or a server message saying "be sure to confirm you you're engaging an ENEMY unit and DON'T just start firing at anyone" message that is shown every time the player joins the server.

...orrrrrrrrrr

the person who fired blows up when the missile impacts his target (you)

and you go flying on your merry way

your game isn't impacted at all

and the offender gets treated to the map screen wondering what-the-heck-oh-darn-i-guess-you're-not-allowed-to-shoot-friendlies-here and learns a very valuable and important lesson in the process

*problem solved*

Yep. Thats the reason for the relatively easy wrist slaps for the first two TK's in my suggestion. That being said, those types of things may be difficult to impliment, if theyre even possible.

Another issue is, TKing players vs friendly AI's. It wasnt 104th, but yesterday i accidentally killed 4 friendlies with one cluster bomb...would have instantly got me to step 4 for an accidental blue on blue.

Accidental team kills happen too. Its only the malicious tking thats the issue.

Indeed. It doesn't help that both sides are often flying the same aircraft (is that A-10C friendly or hostile? I got confused once, much to my chagrin and the freindly hog's annoyance). I'm fairly certain that most incidents happen in WVR situations with short range weapons for this reason- Radar IFF is pretty much infallible assuming you're actually using it.

Blue on blue is as old as war itself, it's just part of the game, but if someone willingly shoots a friendly he deserves a punishment. Most incidents happen right at homeplate because people tend to bend or even ignore the rules during taxi, take off or landing - if they even read the rules.

If I see someone repeatedly taking off from taxiway, killing friendlies or even gun-running during landing and then crashing into me right after touch down, I take a screenshot and then report him to the admins. I don't know if kicking/banning is possible at the moment because there were some problems with that when 1.5 went open beta, but I still got the evidence and at the very moment there is nothing one can do about it. So just grab a new aircraft and start again, that’s how life works. ;)

Snakes on a plane!?.... Please..... We got MANPADS on a Crane!

Our NTTR server has been running our latest mission Operation Firestone for a couple of days now!

Results have been very positive so far, the server is running very well and not causing any significant lag or warping problems.

We will continue to add more and more complexity to our NTTR mission over the coming weeks.

A new NTTR mission will also be released for this weekend!

Hi 104th!

As you know we play on on your server long time and that show our respect to your hard work and actions/people on it.

But some missions are very heavy and overcrowded with things that are not relevant to the final result of the mission (i mean on ''Mission complete'', Blue or Red Win...) and want to much PC resources because DCS now work as it work.

Last night, Moonshield.miz, (Leoprad too) was not playable for me because on start (in cockpit / hangar / Gudauta) my 8GB RAM are 98% used. But Op.Bison (East vs.West), Armagedon, Fireshield, Archer is around 70-80% at the start (that`s ok for me) and i can play long time.

So, please if you can and have a time to relieve our resources by unnecessary facilities, scenery (static objects) ... because they do not affect the result of the mission (only cosmetics and performance expensive).

I understand that many people have 16 or 32GB RAM and they don`t see any problem but...

I understand too that 8GB is minimum but please give us chance to play.

Please don`t get me wrong. I`m not say here that your missions are bad but just some missions are to heavy for people with 8GB RAM in present DCS.

Just my feedback.

S!

But no normal player flying the A-10 would just start shooting at random jets, he would first ASK in team chat I'd friendly units in grid xyz near airfield xyz...

How high is that crane btw? 100 meters? :D MANPADS range+altitude bonus advantage LOL

What about adding few Tors and Tunguskas to the 104th missions, to be used with Combined Arms? (So players can also drive and shoot, not only fly! It'd be really useful to have them between bullseye and main-bases of red and blue)

We do not use Combined Arms in our server due to the instability it creates when units start moving around. This has been the case now for a few years.

When ED fix this we will consider implementing CA.

@Falcon

Sorry friend, there is no easy answer to this, to fix would cause lots of problems for me. I have 8GB of Ram and I can fly ok, but some missions are better than others.

Once 2.0 is finished and in a release version I will look at redoing all the missions.

However it may be worth considering upgrading your RAM, I am 100% upgrading my ram next year from 8GB to 16GB. 8GB now only meets the minimum requirement for DCS.

What about SSD ? Afaik SSD is enough, just put DCS on SSD and 8 GB RAM are fine! CPU can get data from SSD in milliseconds, with 550 MB/s read speed...

Thanks RIPTIDE!

Btw. is it possible to set every 2nd mission (or less) to sunrise time? (8 or 9 am) Might enhance immersive experience a lot. :)
