Dudikoff Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 I still have my fingers crossed for a Mig-23 even though I get the impression it will be a Viggen and a WW2 prop. Yeah, probably, though I still hope that the last announcement part: "but I believe that you will all be very happy and very satisfied with the reveals coming up." doesn't just mean that because Viggen and the Corsair are (arguably) considered by the forum to be the most likely candidates, that we'll all be very happy when these expectations are met. :) Personally, I don't care much about WWII planes (or post war jets) and won't be buying any more single planes from the era; I might consider them only as part of some theater with matching terrains, vehicles and campaigns. Now, later Cold War is another story altogether hence why I still hope the other module is not a WWII plane ;) i386DX40@42 MHz w/i387 CP, 4 MB RAM (8*512 kB), Trident 8900C 1 MB w/16-bit RAMDAC ISA, Quantum 340 MB UDMA33, SB 16, DOS 6.22 w/QEMM + Win3.11CE, Quickshot 1btn 2axis, Numpad as hat. 2 FPH on a good day, 1 FPH avg. DISCLAIMER: My posts are still absolutely useless. Just finding excuses not to learn the F-14 (HB's Swansong?). Annoyed by my posts? Please consider donating. Once the target sum is reached, I'll be off to somewhere nice I promise not to post from. I'd buy that for a dollar!
Plushanubka Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 I want to be very happy and very satisfied already
Bacab Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Had the Viggen been provided with a TGP and/or a laser designator for its air to ground missions ? I am not particularly interested in this plane but I would love to have a fast jet able to carry out precision strike.
Skjold Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 (edited) Roughly a week left of September, announcement ahoy!? Had the Viggen been provided with a TGP and/or a laser designator for its air to ground missions ? I am not particularly interested in this plane but I would love to have a fast jet able to carry out precision strike. As far as i know, no. It can carry an assortment of unguided rockets, dumb bombs, joystick guided missiles (secondary joystick in cockpit in the old AJ-37 model), mavericks, anti-ship missiles and newest ground attack (AJS-37) variants can carry stand-off (50ish km) gliding cluster bombs and both AJ and AJS should carry AIM-9's but no radar guided air-to-air. Edit: JA-37 can carry AIM-9's and Skyflash missiles, with the newest variant capable carry AIM-120's. Only about 1 ½ squadron upgraded as a temporary measure while waiting for the Gripen to enter full blown service Edited September 22, 2015 by Skjold

The only PGM used on the Viggen to my knowledge was the Maverick and some Anti-Ship missiles. Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!

Stratos Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 A Viggen? Really? Another plane not adding anything to the DCS planes?, no a fast modern multirole, but a NEVER ENTERED COMBAT aircraft that make the same as the RAZBAM Mirage 2000, and the current Su27 and MiG29. I really hope is not a Viggen. I don't understand anything in russian except Davai Davai!
Gargoil Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 I really hope it's a Mig-23 or Mig-25 or any modern russian jet. Altho they said something about unique propulsion so it might be a Harrier aswell

I really hope is not a Viggen. Each to his own, im not gonna preach about why a certain plane should be in or not in the game and other then anti-ship missile capability the Viggen wouldn't add anything unique to the game at least until the Hornet has finished baking in the oven. But what relevance does combat record/service of planes have? A Viggen may have never fired a shot in anger but considering the airspace it was policing during the cold war it has done thousands of interceptions of WP, USSR and NATO airplanes.
Krupi Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 I really hope they tell us soon, hopefully before the rampant speculation gets to a boiling point... ;) Windows 10 Pro | ASUS RANGER VIII | i5 6600K @ 4.6GHz| MSI RTX 2060 SUPER | 32GB RAM | Corsair H100i | Corsair Carbide 540 | HP Reverb G2 | MFG crosswind Pedals | Custom Spitfire Cockpit Project IX Cockpit
Ninjaviper Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 I still think its a F-5E. Because it was shown in one of the video's as a LN module. But I also hope it might be a Jaguar! i5 7600K OC 4.4, MSI Z270 Sli plus GTX 1080 OC, 2x16 GB Memory 3000 MHz, Windows 10 Thrustmaster Warthog, VKB pedals TrackIR 5.

Custard Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 I have to agree for the same reasons and added onto that the viggen doesnt interest me in the slightest Humm... idk, it really depends on the variant. To me, anti-ship/cruise missiles, stand-off cluster bombs and mavericks on a supersonic platform are quite interesting. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
SpeedStick Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 I really hope its a viggen... Obviously. "Hard to imagine bigger engine. its got a beautiful face and an arse built like sputnik." - Pikey AKA The Poet, on 37 Viggen.
Python Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Can never please everyone. I think it's clear from the majority of posts on here that the Viggen would be a very welcome announcement. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
didilman Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 I vote for viggen and mig-23. Im not a WWII planes I have P-51 and BF109 good plane but prey on MP U need special server. Viggen or mig-25 i pay two one for me one for friend same I will do with M2000C.
Schmidtfire Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 (edited) Viggen did enter combat in 1985. It got a maneuver kill against one Su-15 Flagon over the Baltic Sea... Anyway, Viggen is a beautiful and powerful fighter. Can't wait to land on a 500m roadstrip and rearm in the middle of nowhere =) Edited September 22, 2015 by Schmidtfire
howie87 Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 A Viggen would be great but a Gripen would be spectacular :shifty:

Python Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Viggen is a beautiful and powerful fighter. Can't wait to land on a 500m roadstrip and rearm in the middle of nowhere =) Yeah, given that is one of the viggens fairly unique characteristics (along with the Harrier and some other Saabs) I really hope ED or LNS find a way to make use of this. It would be great to be able to corden off a strip of road and place some temporary assets so we could land the Viggen on a highway and re-fuel/re-arm etc. It would be fun to do for starters, but more than that it would be extremely useful in certain situations. A Viggen would be great but a Gripen would be spectacular :shifty: I agree, and fortunately VEAO are on the case. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
pered Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 It's obviously going to be a F4E, lets face it, it's on their MiG21 website, there's a picture in the background. It'll be adversary for the MiG21bis, and will make our online fights a loooooot more fun! Gotta catch them all bandits! :joystick:
Krupi Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 I can see a P-38, F6F and a F4F... didilman Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 So one WWII plane and one 60-70 fighter, 3rd gen fighter?
