Dappman Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 (edited) LN team member Christoffer Warnbring is pictured on the LN site wearing a Swedish Air Force pilot helmet. A Swedish plane is very likely and since Novak was a Mig-21 pilot it seems like their bringing in real pilots to model their aircraft. I don't know if any other members are pilots but Since Novak is AFAIK a Serbian air force pilot, there's potential they could be modelling a Mig-29 since Serbia uses those. Possibly a Balkan theater. What's that all about forum? I'm lost. Need to find something to do with the Viggen or Corsair because that is definitely what is coming... I know it! I got all excited and felt like I cyber spy though because an exact helmet was the 8th result when I searched for "Viggen Pilot Helmet" but it was actually an F-18 Jolly Roger helmet! Probably is another tomcat reference, but the F-4 was operated by the Jolly Rogers! (The plot thickens) Edited October 31, 2015 by Hook47

[Knight] Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 F-4= Booooooring.... Same boat with the F4, Its an awful aircraft. If youre going to do awful at least do sexy. For you F4 haters that don't know anything about the F4:The F-4 established 16 speed, altitude and time-to-climb records. In 1959, its prototype set the world altitude record at 98,556 feet (30,000 meters). In 1961, an F-4 set the world speed record at 1,604 mph (2581 kph) on a 15-mile circuit. (http://www.boeing.com/history/products/f-4-phantom-ii.page) Oh and the reason why there was so many lost in Vietnam was mostly due to the lack of combat tactics and lack of training. Not the equipment. Now yes the earlier air frames had no gun but that was resolved and after that the F4 started to come out on top.:D Maybe I just love this aircraft too much but it is no slouch in the sky in its era. http://104thphoenix.com/ https://www.youtube.com/c/104th_Knight https://www.twitch.tv/104th_knight 104th_Knight

Toten Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 "Twenty-five US Marine Corps squadrons flew versions of the Phantom II and 11 of them used the aircraft in South-East Asia from May 1965 through to early 1973. Rather than the air-to-air missiles that were the main component in the original F-4 armament, these aircraft carried an ever-expanding range of weaponry. Some toted 24,500-lb bombs and others strafed with up to three 20 mm gun pods, while most flew daily sorties delivering napalm, Snakeye bombs and big Zuni rockets. Many US Marines holding small outpost positions in Laos and South Vietnam against heavy Viet Cong attack owed their lives to the Phantom II pilots who repeatedly drove off the enemy. The book will examine these missions in the context of US Marine Corps close-support doctrine, using the direct experience of a selection of the aircrew who flew and organised those missions." Wasn't one of the clues that it was an aircraft associated with LNS' namesake? https://ospreypublishing.com/us-marine-corps-f-4-phantom-ii-units-of-the-vietnam-war Toten Tiger-Spit-Viggen-Fishbed-Sabre-Dora-Kurfurst-Mustang-Huey-Warthog-Hip-Black Shark Driver (Not necessarily in that order) MSI 970A-G40 MoBo, AMD FX-8350 8 Core, Patriot Viper 24 GB DDR3, Nvidia Ge Force 1060 3 GB GPU
Hummingbird Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 (edited) People would probably be surprised to know that the F4 featured approximately the same sustained turn rate as the MiG-21, and the F-4E actually featured one slightly higher thanks to the addition of LE slats (14.6 deg/sec @ SL). Edited November 1, 2015 by Hummingbird
Greekbull Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 I love the Phantom...just have no interest in flying it. Maybe as a Wild Weasel but that would be it. AG-51_Razor Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Sorry, I should have been more specific. All of the US Navy CV's since before WWII had four screws. By CV, I am referring to Lexington and Saratoga, Yorktown and Essex class, Midway class and all attack carriers built since then. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
