Why? 1.5 is much more performant than 1.2.x: based on about twenty different systems, the performance increase is around 160% (and I mean increase, as in 100% increase is doubled). You can find the details here: https://redd.it/3n5fsu

Trying not to derail this topic, I only have a gtx 560ti card. Alas you may be right. I know it doesn't meet min specs for 2.0/NTTR and I know it doesn't meet min specs for 1.5 beta. It works quite fine for 1.2...

Does that mean you will have two different versions of this DLC: a 1.2.x and a 1.5? Or was that hyperbole? When I mean different versions, I mean that the content is different. I don't plan to upgrade to 1.5 for a while (until I buy a way better graphics card).

Hi intx. The Enemy Within will only be released in 1.5 version -unfortunately AFAIK missions upgraded to 1.5 are not backwards - compatible. As 1.5 introduces some new features managing two different versions of campaign would be too burdensome and misleading.

Having said that, Giptal is right - even with weaker GPU you will see increase in your performance so I strongly recommend that you do upgrade your version!

...and another update. The campaign is going through beta-testing by ED and we are finalising the work on the official video with help of Xstounds - can't wait to share it with you guys once it is ready!

That will be cool.

Curious if it'll be out before NTTR and the new Red Flag campaign. I don't know the RF campaign yet, but I'm obviously eager to fly it.

I just think it would be terribly bad timing if the release of both campaigns overlapped.

In any case, I'll surely fly The Enemy Within in 1.5 again because that version of DCS just feels so much better and I'm also curious to see the finished, complete campaign.

Baltic's missions are excellent with superb immersion. I'm looking forward to the release of both NTTR and The Enemy Within. It won't matter what map the campaign is built on..... His missions transcend that.

a page or so back Baltic stated that its planned to be out before NTTR and the red flag stuff.

Check out post 98

But here is what was said.

I hope you do get it out before NTTR and the A-10C Red Flag campaign is released. Insta buy for me, btw.

That's the plan.. I can't wait to try the Red Flag campaign, but I think the two will be totally different in character. I hope all should be ready soon, and almost certainly before end of November and release of NTTR map.

Read through the last couple pages, Baltic is pretty active, giving status about the campaign, testing status and even some info on a teaser/trailer video for the campaign, its worth reading through.

Haha, yeah, I agree.

The point I was trying to make is another one, though. I think most people around here (definitely including me!) are pretty much hyped about the soon-to-be-released NTTR. There's going to be so much to explore and discover that I guess many people won't go back to Georgia for quite some time after NTTR release.

I just think it would be terrible timing if the release of The Enemy Within suffered from that. When I tested the campaign in 1.2 it was at an exceptionally high standard and I just hope that as many people as possible will be able (and willing) to explore it.

Not knowing the Red Flag campaign yet, I guess the two campaigns are going to be very different in nature, but both very much enjoyable in their own ways.

Good point about the planned release, thx.

As an avid fan and tester of -as well as a contributor to- the campaign, rest assured that I did read through this thread (even if I may have missed a piece of information here or there). :smartass:

cool, i just know how it gets with long threads, sometimes people dont have the time or energy to read through it all, happens to me all the time, so no negativity meant.

i cant wait for the campaign, i have the original and have played it, but will still be in line to try out the updated version and make sure Baltic gets the credit (money) he deserves for all the hard work.

Thanks guys for all the kind words, and most of all - thanks to Yurgon and Jack Flash for their invaluable help, the campaign wouldn't be the same without you guys!

As for timing I agree it would have been much better to release it before NTTR and that still is the plan, even if it is done a week before. Can't blame anyone for completely forgetting Caucasus once Nevada arrives, though I guess that after initial hype people will be willing to go back, as NTTR is mostly good for training missions, and the real enemies will stay in / around Georgia for the time being. And with 1.5 the old map feels almost like a different one :)

I have another partly finished campaign located there which perhaps I will finalise and release one day. But I also have plans for a long, two part campaign starting in Nevada (training / preparation phase) and then taking place in Strait of Hormuz (actual missions), but work on that is still quite far away for obvious reasons.

As for TEW and Red Flag - having read the Mudspike preview, I can't wait to get my hands on Wags' new creation. Still, as Yurgon said, I think the campaigns will be much different in nature, TEW being somewhat slower paced but with more emphasis put on storyline, background and random voiceovers during the missions. I might be wrong, though, we will see.

That's what I wanted to say. Not everyone here is so stoked about NTTR, because of it beeing a training map. Of course I bought it and I will also try out the Red Flag campaigns, but I'm not sure I can really enjoy them. Actually shooting down planes with live munitions over the Nevada desert just feels wrong and breaks immersion which is important to me. So I'm actually more interested in the Enemy Within campaign than the Red Flag campaigns or NTTR in general. Can't wait for Strait of Hormuz though, since that serves as an actual conflict zone like georgia.

...and on my part I made sure that what you get will be very different from what was released as a free version before, together with three completely new missions and plus big changes in a few others. Not to mention additional VOs and briefings re-done from scratch with maps. So I hope this will be largely a new experience!

Unfortunately, the Enemy Within will become available only after Nevada is published - TEW hopefully will be out by the end of next week. I know many people (myself included) will at least temporarily switch to NTTR, but hopefully eventually will revisit good old Georgia, where Caucasus Liberation Army will be waiting to get some beating ;)

Once TEW is out I will have some (I hope) interesting updates on future projects (there are four in the pipeline).

And another update, with ED team as busy as it is with NTTR, the Enemy Within will have to wait until Nevada moves to a stable version. Perhaps that also means that Black Sea map should be ported to 2.0, but I am not sure there.

It is coming alright, although a bit later than initially planned. TBH, I think it will benefit the campaign if it is released under a stable version of DCS. It came at a very difficult time with DCS 1.5 beta and 2.0 alpha out, so no surprise there are some changes.

So I need to repeat what I've been saying for some time.. a little bit more of patience :music_whistling:

Nah, it's all understandable :)

I just wonder, how's ED working on 2.0 and your work are correlated. After all I would assume that it's YOU who is doing most of the work, not them.

I think release of a new module, preparing it for download, uploading on the website, steam etc. takes quite a lot of time.

Plus, the campaign needs to be set in certain environment (be it 1.5 or 2.0). Upgrading the campaign to 1.5 was quite a challenge, and I understand that it is better to release new things on a stable platform once most of the bugs are squashed - which is also good for me, as it means less work from my side. So perhaps it is worth to wait a little bit longer!
