Hey there,

DCS World has imo the best A\C ever made in the history of flight sims.

However, I miss some big cargo planes and such. Like the C160\130.

Is there any chance we will see some of these in the future and with the quality of a BS2.0 or Huey or Mi-8?

I'm not much for blowing stuff up in campaigns, simply because I'm too noob for this kinda hustle. Therefore, I would really love flying a big plane from A to B. Just for the sake of flying.

I've thought the same myself a few times. The AC130 would be fun, possibly the gunship version once they get multi-position cockpits working in DCS 2.0. CAS missions escorting cargo would be entertaining, I reckon.

Or what about huge bombers like the B-52 or Tu-95? I would pay good money for such a module.

I think something like a Multicrew B-17 would be really cool. Having friends stationing different parts of the bomber.

I agree, some of the big ass planes would indeed be cool. Though due to the size limits of current and planned maps only of limited use.

Then again, since when has that hold this community back?

IL-76M and A-50 please.

I'd love to see some large aircraft also, the B1B would be spectacular. As you mention you don't want to blow stuff up, you may be interested to know that VEAO are planning to make an A330 MRTT which should give us an idea of what heavies will be like in DCS, they are also making a Lancaster which should be a little bit special.

Nice, can't wait. Let's go DCS!

It would be nice to have some heavy planes. I do like to blow things up, but I'd welcome the change of pace every now or then. :D

Bring on the B-17. The Mighty 8th's workhorse bomber.

It would absolutely be amazing to have something like this in the game so that the Mustangs have something to escort, and the Doras and Kurfursts have something to try and bring down.

I think it would go hand in hand with the WWII map that is already planned.

Although I probably wouldn't fly such a heavy thing myself I had hoped for Razbam to bring such a thing to DCSW. They have done a few big jets for FSX, so they at least know a bit about them. But I understand their priorities are elsewhere (and for a good reason. Most people really wouldn't buy such a module).

The problem with the big ones is the map size IMO. Our maps are pretty small.

But I could imagine the following roles:

- dropping supplies

- dropping paratroopers

- flying from a safe airport to an airport near the front, landing as quickly as possible, unloading some vehicles to use for a CA commander.

- AWACS (one or two persons. There isn't much to do for the pilot anyway as sson as the AWACS is on its track.)

- tankers. Although I expect it to be a little bit boring in the sim.

So if someone wants to do a bigger plane I'd recommend the following ones for starters:

- C-2 Greyhound (carrier landings!)

- E-2 Hawkeye (almost the same as above, plus AWACS)

- C-130 (and if it goes well do a KC-130, a Spectre, or a Spooky)

- Il-76, IL-78, A-50 (basically all the same aircraft, but different roles)

- KC-135

In all cases I would probably do the cockpit and flight model to DCSW sim standards, but for the operation of the plane create some sort of interface so one player can do what the whole crew does, in a simplified way that suffices for the role it has to fulfill in the sim.

Oh yes... The AC-130 Spectre would be loads of fun.

Wish for that one.

There is a lovely TU-22 external model in DCS, was just looking at it now in Modelviewer. I was playing with model planes (don't judge).

I love the look of this Cold War beast. I know it seats four ... I can see the little guys in the back.

* OK Emp I'll add my pros for the TU-22M3 *

TU-22M3:

- Used by Soviet forces in Afghan and Chechen conflicts as a conventional bomber

- In active service for decades practising maritime interception.

- Would definitely give a US 'Fleet Defender' aircraft something to do.

Speaking of going big; here's my wishlist:

Tu-22M3:

- Good for unloading tons of ordnance

- Isn't too long-ranged to be wasteful like using B-52 on a cross-city sortie

- TV targeting system should be familiar in terms of practical use to us DCSers

- Kh-22s!

C-27J:

- Agile tactical airlifter

- Ability to land on unprepared strips, utility in short-range ops creates many possibilities within DCS World; should a cargo and load system be implemented

Mi-26T:

- Becuz huge helo

I'd love to have a transport aircraft flyable (preferably a lighter one though). For heavy metal I'd go for the Mig-31 before a tactical bomber (although the Su-24 is nice too).

I'd buy an E-2 in a heartbeat! Would be awesome to play as AWACS in multiplayer.

Wouldn't say no to an AC-130 either..... :D

-Col. Russ Everts opinion on surface-to-air missiles: "It makes you feel a little better if it's coming for one of your buddies. However, if it's coming for you, it doesn't make you feel too good, but it does rearrange your priorities."

DCS Wishlist:

MC-130E Combat Talon   |   F/A-18F Lot 26   |   HH-60G Pave Hawk   |   E-2 Hawkeye/C-2 Greyhound   |   EA-6A/B Prowler   |   J-35F2/J Draken   |   RA-5C Vigilante

The maps for DCS are far too small for the truly large aircraft. I figure A C-130 would be about the largest aircraft the maps will sustain. Putting a B-1 or B-52 in a current DCS map is like putting a humpback whale in a backyard swimming pool. I'd go for a MC-130H in an instant though... It has terrain following radar, FLIR, full ECM/ESM countermeasures suite and it can be equipped with weapons like the AGM-176 Griffin missile or with a true crowd pleaser like the GBU-43/B or a BLU-82B. It can also be used as an aerial refueler in addition to it's primary role as a spec-ops infil/exfil platform. It is a real multirole aircraft unlike the dedicated attack AC-130A/H/U/J. The newest AC-130's are being modified to use non-lethal weapons... Whatever works I guess.

Truly superior pilots are those that use their superior judgment to avoid those situations where they might have to use their superior skills.

If you ever find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!

DCS: USS Akron (ZRS-4) complete with onboard Curtiss F9C Sparrowhawk would be unique.

You could fly the airship itself, or fly the Sparrowhawk. Imagine the thrill of landing a Sparrowhawk on a flying airship.

I think the idea is a winner.
