Most of us don't care about the score board.

But that was sometimes different back in LockOn days when the score board recognized your kill only when you landed on friendly ground afterwards.

That made you fly more responsible and even motivated you flying your smoking bird back home after a good fight to get the credit for it.

Could we have something similar rewarding back?

If that messes with triggers then maybe a parallel system or kills count but score only when landing or kill decals on plane when landing or something like it?

It was a simple thing (maybe even a bug) that had heavy positive impact on the game play/battle feeling imho.

Not good !

It would allow our spouses to track our actual flight hours and find out how much we cheat with the answers to questions like: "Honey, what have you been doing ?"

No more sorties at 1:30pm between two phone calls, no more 5am Sunday flights....

I dunno......

We already have that - the log book has an option to select invulnerable to No. You'll see that is very effective at ending a pilot's kill count.

Flying with that option will always make you much more careful.

I don't thimk OP is talking about singleplayer but more multiplayer. And log book settings are without influence in multiplayer missions. But the idea is great. Too many pilots online do not even care if they are being shot down because it's faster and easier to just take a new aircraft instead of going RTB for 3R. We should call out to their honor to do so but still it's competitive play where the K/D's value is still higher than the "knightship" pilots often refer to.

yes please! for my own personal challenge i always to try my best to make it back and land, but i think with this dynamic it would make online play much more fulfilling not only for me but others too

I like this idea. Would make pilots more responsible in the more popular servers that try to maintain realism (104th, Blueflag). I don't want this as a ironclad rule online, but having servers that really push the pilot/player I certainly would welcome and probably hangout there mostly

If I remember right, I think IL-2 had something similar as well, where there was some kind of score bonus for landing back at base.

Il-2 had much more than that, for example NULLWAR (entirely made by enthusiasts) was a total war machine, including not only frontline, but logistics, even historical numbers of airplanes available to the blue and red sides at the point of time. At first, you registered as a second leutenant, only I-153 and I-16 available, and as you completed missions and gained points, you unlocked more airplane types, but if you bailed out behind enemy lines - most likely you were dead, and if you're dead - you lose your rank and start it all over.

THAT was very motivating, first of all - to live, not risking your life in vain, and coordinating with your mates, planning and performing massive raids, newbies under command in light attack planes, aces in several groups defending them, that was immersive.

That was absolutely different compared to a random dogfight server. If you want to have some fun, just dogfight somewhere. If you're into something hard and time consuming, there's a war for you.

That's all cool and and interesting ideas for the future, but in case ED actually reads the wishlist posts, all I'm asking for for now is something that was already included once and can possibly added back during lunch time.
