iLOVEwindmills Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Last tease of the week. Promise! Wish it could be a little less vague, but I guess that's the point. Not really sure why though.
Harry.R Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Last tease of the week. Next tease is first tease of the weekend. ;)
Kayos Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Last tease of the week. Next tease is first tease of the weekend. ;) Don't even say that !!!:mad::mad::mad::mad: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Harry.R Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 If it doesn't come out at least you can go to Whistler and ski this weekend!
Kayos Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 If it doesn't come out at least you can go to Whistler and ski this weekend! Very true. I went last weekend. It was great. Lots of new snow lately :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Kelevra9987 Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 So the most exciting thing for me is the idea of using the Mirage as a bomb truck for LGBs. It is going to change our approach in our squadron and provide a fast bombing response. Does anyone know if the ability to drop LGBs will work on release and if they will be guidable by an A-10C with a Lantern pod? Perhaps this may be something we will have to wait for? Secondly what is the procedure for changing the laser codes on the bombs. In real life the codes are changed on the ground by the ground crews, in the A-10c in game this can't be done so the codes can be changed in the DSMS. This method is obviously not applicable to the a mirage though. Thanks in advance, On the bottom of the Radarscreen-Bezel I've seen something like a code selector with four digits. Much like the A-10s TISL Panel has. Maybe you set the Code this way? This dials are used to adjust some radar display symbols brightness. GBU-12 code are selected on the bomb itself and can't be changed in cockpit. You have to adapt targeting pod code to bomb, not the opposite. And sorry, no Laser Spot Tracker on Mirage 2000 C. Mirage fanatic ! Teeter Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 I had the FBW limiter set to CHARGES (Stores) mode even though all I had was AA stores at that time. Maybe I'm too tired, but why would this show as a failure? Also, I bugged you for a question on /r/Hoggit. Plan on stopping in soon? ;) /Gregory Smiddy Programming Heatblur Simulations https://www.facebook.com/heatblur/
Teeter Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Unless we here from a definitive source elsewhere, the CONF caution comes on if what limiter you have active does not match the ideal limiter for the current aircraft configuration. That means that if you only have AA stores and are in Stores/CHARGES mode, it is a caution to the pilot that the aircraft will not perform to its fullest potential in case of combat situation. If you have AG stores for fuel tanks and are in AA limiter mode, obviously it gives caution because you are operating outside of recommended envelope for stores. Additionally, the only time AA FBW mode should be active with fuel tanks is when the center tank is empty (and have no other tanks). Any other AG stores or wing tanks (empty or not) suggest CHARGES mode. Interesting, thanks. I wasn't aware that the aircraft could be "aware" of it's current loadout. Is this defined by a data cartridge upon loadout (a la A-10C)? /Gregory Smiddy Programming Heatblur Simulations https://www.facebook.com/heatblur/

Corsair Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Interesting, thanks. I wasn't aware that the aircraft could be "aware" of it's current loadout. Is this defined by a data cartridge upon loadout (a la A-10C)? No, just information coming through the aircraft's buses and interfaces.
jojo Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 If I'm right, F/A-18 Hornet is even a step beyond, it doesn't have limiter switch. It's automatic depending on aircraft loads. On the other hand, it isn't supposed to routinely sustain 9G (excepted modified Swiss Hornet). Mirage fanatic ! OxideMako Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Interesting, thanks. I wasn't aware that the aircraft could be "aware" of it's current loadout. Is this defined by a data cartridge upon loadout (a la A-10C)? IIRC the F-16 has a similar system depending on CAT I/CAT III settings, and also brings up a master caution warning if incorrect. BMS has this modeled if you want to take a look. It significantly affects handling in the F-16, and I can't wait to see how it affects the Mirage!
Croaker47 Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Interesting, thanks. I wasn't aware that the aircraft could be "aware" of it's current loadout. Is this defined by a data cartridge upon loadout (a la A-10C)? As the dude above says, it sounds like a switch you're in charge of. If you have stores and feel like pulling max G's ajyway, put it in AA :P.
Zeus67 Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Remember people that the aircraft configuration is done by the ground crew. They are the ones who tell the aircraft what the load is. The pilot is just a systems manager in this case and must work within the parameters set by the ground crew. Gone are the days in which all you had to do was run to the first fueled and armed aircraft and take-off into the blue sky to fight the bandits. Gliptal Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Is it a feasible idea to switch to the CHARGES setting when landing or refueling to have a more precise (but less responsive I guess) handling?
Corsair Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 I can't see anything that could prevent you from doing so. But this usually never happens, controls are as precise in AA as they are in CHARGES.
Corrigan Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 So if you're not pulling g's, the controls (mapping of stick to control surfaces) are identical, right? The only difference is that the FBW disallows/changes some control inputs in high-performance manoeuvres, to differing extents in the two modes? jojo Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 AA: - full roll stick : 270°/s (depending on speed may be lower) - full aft stick : 9G/ 29° AoA (again depends on speed) CHARGES: - Full roll stick : 150°/s (depending on speed may be lower) - Full aft stick : 6G/ 20° AoA BUT: In CHARGES mode, you don't have auto AoA limitation to 20° (still 29°), you have to manually respect it, or you risk control departure with heavy stores.
