What are the chances of somebody to start taking a stab at heavies for DCS?

-C-130 variants

-C-17

Would be cool to do paradrops, tactical flying, or going at targets with the AC-130

Just a thought for far in the future!

Both would be sweet. C-17 is probably too new with some systems classified though, and the 130 would have to be an earlier version. C-141 would be nice too, but i would really get excited for some bombers; Bear, B-52, B-1, B-47, etc.

We need a bomber.

Absolutely! I like flying fighters, but Heavies are more fun to me. A working bomber would add so much more and something new.

You might be surprised by how capable a C130 is with respect to decoying missiles, not to mention BFM. Certainly a fighter is superior, but a week trained crew is capable of giving you some serious grief.

The B1 is not only capable of more g than you know, it can hit the deck, light the cans, say 'see ya!' And watch you run out of fuel behind it.

Don't discount well flown heavies.

I like the idea, but for something like the B-1, our maps are just too small.

Not necessary, if T-5 mesh technology in develop expand map limits, we can get more and more extended maps (and in the future, with a T-6 the Whole earth).

B1s will work just fine in the existing maps, just have to plan right :-)

B-1's in our space will be fine. I have seen what those things can do and I think it would be more fun than people give it credit for. Just imagine the online realism.

There was a time when my biggest wish was a DCS B-52. A Desert Storm-era upgraded -G model.

Perhaps it would be a good a compromise if we pushed for a F-111 and/or Su-24 (and A-6...). In my opinion they are the most realistic options for a bomber type aircraft, from a gameplay standpoint. I remember the F-111 winning a wishlist some time ago.

I would like to see a C-130 on the other hand...

i would *love* to see heavies in DCS - i probably would not personally purchase them, but i know there is a segment of the community that would relish the opportunity

and yes, BONEs too! would be great to have SAC represented in DCS (i would actually probably purchase a B-1)

speaking of heavies, not that they need to be actually player-flyable, but i would love to see more variety in AI civvie/airline traffic - so as to model real-world activity

Me too, although apart from the Herc - and the C-47 of course wink.gif - we'd need much larger maps in order to deploy them realistically. Still, I'd just love to skipper a DCS heavy!

The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.

I love flying the CS C-130 in FSX, I feel like having a well simulated classic T-56 powered C-130 in DCS would outclass that by a mile. I love large classic aircraft with analogue flight decks and FE panels. A huge advantage is that most of the information about operating these aircraft has been declassified. I feel like we could have a lineup of Russian heavies and their western counterparts:

DCS: IL76 vs. DCS: C-141

DCS: C-130 vs. DCS: An-12

DCS: P-3 vs. DCS: Il-18/Il-38

DCS: An-124 vs. DCS: C-5a (Though the operation of the MA/DaR system is still clasified AFAIK)

These aircraft with full systems depth and shared cockpit multiplayer--The Il-76 takes 4-6 crew members to fly properly! (but can still be handled by one with view switching)--would bring a whole new set of players to DCS. They could add more to combined arms, replace AI on multiple fronts (imagine flying the refueling tanker), or even be combined arms. What I'm imagining is that we could have an AEWS/AWACS version of a heavy, and those who own combined arms would use shared cockpit multiplayer to operate a command console in the cabin. It would be just like combined arms, except should the aircraft be compromised (shot down or forced to return), your team would temporarily lose the ability to conduct forces on the ground.

I feel like including heavies would put so much more strategy into the game, which is exactly what this game needs.

C-130 isn't a heavy, it's a large wake turbulence category!

Is that on the roadmap for DCS?

The T-5 has in progress by ED (from the last newsletter). The whole earch has into the plans of ED, from some time ago (EDGE future plans on DCS: World 2.0 post).

That thing is a beast!

Would love to have one of these :D
