ScorpioFeralHog Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 The App checks network status on bootup, pings google to test local or outbound traffic and then pings all the dcs servers. if its showing as offline then its not detecting your internet connection network status. which is a basic windows command, so either you have a software suite blocking it or modifying the default windows TCPIP stack. I get Online when I first start up. But when I click on the refresh latest version available button, the connection status goes to offline and I get not connected status. I made sure windows firewall allows the program through. Any other ideas? Thanks

ctguy1955 Posted April 23, 2020 Posted April 23, 2020 utility will not update DCS, says up to date On Slot #2 something is weird. If I try to use the updater app it says I am up to date. If I use the admin cmd prompt, it allows Me to update to 2.5.6.47404 If I try to do a repair, it will take two days at 400 kbps. I will post a screen save and log file. The DOWNLOAD section of DCS has tons of stuff from me trying 3 times to update it using the cmd prompt. I have slot one as my main dcsw play folder and slot two as a backup. Now slot two wont load dcs and even going directly into the file and hitting RUN wont load it. Hope this can all be fixed somehow and any help would be much appreciated. EKat Posted April 28, 2020 Posted April 28, 2020 Does anyone else experience troubles with the updater not refreshing trhe active servers and versions in the Home GUI tab? Everytime I try to refresh the server status, I get a "offline" only. Also my "internet connection staus shows "offline" although I'm loading information down?! I'm having the 'no connection' issue. I'm a first time user of this utility and I've reviewed posts by Skatezilla on this issue. I've tried turning off firewall app(s) and allowing DCS Updater Utility app-level FW permissions, etc. I've also set-up routes for incoming DCS ports on my router, all to no avail. Not sure why this is happening as my internet connection appears otherwise normal to me.

I'm researching the VB Code Forums, it's possible that Windowsx 10 changed some NetworkConnection Available Code. I will likely re-code the entire network Detection Function and merge some duplicate code. Startup Code on App Load and the refresh button are the same code in 2 different locations, merging to on function and calling that function at startup and button press would save me about 130 lines. Right Now General Function Behavior is as follows: -Detect a Network Connection for Windows If No Network Device is Detected/Active, Label Offline in Status Bar, and Offline for Servers. If Network Device is Detected/Active, Proceed: Ping http://www.google.com if ping returns, Check DCS Servers (Pings Each Server One By One) if no ping returns from http://www.google.com, Catch Exception Label Local Connection only on status bar, and No Connection for Servers So if it's showing offline, then likely your Network Adapter Driver is not seen as active by windows (power saving setting), or the Driver Stack isnt seen by windows for another reason. However, the VB Forums, MS has said the lines I'm using to detect network are correct and should work without issue, literally it's one line. So Maybe If I Re-Code and condense function and clean it up for everything it might resolve a conflict. SkateZilla Posted April 28, 2020 Author Posted April 28, 2020 Just attempted ping of google.com from my command prompt and it does indeed timeout. I will further investigate on my end. I'm extending code to ping more than one site in the event one fails. Also can you attach the updater app log, I'm trying also see if it's detecting your network adapter as active or not. EKat Posted April 29, 2020 Posted April 29, 2020 I think I've found the culprit. I had to turn off Malwarebytes 'web protection' feature. I now have no problems resolving FQDNs using the ping command and everything internet and server-related is now 'green' in the app. The Nslookup command worked just fine and had me wondering what was wrong. I should have tried Malwarebytes earlier, just didn't want to give up on that feature. I'd be happy to send my logs, but not sure if they'd be useful (or where located?). In any event, thanks much for your assistance with this matter.
Andy t Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 (edited) I originally purchased all of my DCS planes/modules on steam. Today I connected and imported steam licenses in ED account. Then I created a new profile in DCS Updater for an older (2.5.6.45915) version. I was able to run the updater and start DCS. However, none of the modules show up even though I am logged in. How do I get to see all my modules? Edited May 1, 2020 by Andy t

Andy t Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 For what I know, it's unfortunately not possible to transfer modules between Steam and stand-alone. Ones upon a time it was, but not anymore. I hope for your sake I'm wrong. That's not the case anymore. You can transfer modules from Steam to ED (there is also official documentation). I think part of the reason is I am confused about the Interface and the proper workflows on how to use it. I was able to get the Hornet module showing up. However, when I try to install a bunch of modules at once, I get the "Searching for already downloaded files..." dialog that is up for a long time (over 10 minutes for some modules, but others appear to install correctly).
Hammer1-1 Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 You can troubleshoot that by using the repair function first. Repair your install even if its not borked, just make it fresh and clean. Then in the start menu use the update dcs link provided by ED. Id try doing this on the updater utility first, but if you cant then try this other method. If it does the same thing, its probably an ED issue.
