Your Mirage 2000C Joystick Curves Recommendations

Hi everyone,

I've been trying for a while now to do some air-to-air refueling with the Mirage and I am realizing that I am having some trouble with doing precise movements. I either steer too much or not enough to "catch" the basket with my probe...

I was wondering... what curves do you use on your joystick? Have you got any particular presets that might be useful for such a daunting task and a-2-a refueling?

Thanks in advance,

Chuck

Hotas warthog Zero curves, practice practice

I second this.

Personally I think that it only feels a little bit weird because the FBW in the M2K makes the plane feel different in terms of precise movements compared to the A-10C.

After you've got a feel of it you shouldn't have any more problems as I pretty much had the hang of it after 5 minutes.

But I agree, the Mirage definetly makes overcompensating easy.

Although I agree that no curves are needed for the stick, I found adjusting the ones for throttle useful for AAR and formation flying. Without it, it is just too sensitive and it is difficult to keep constant speed.

I've got a noisy X52-Pro and keep the curves around 11.

Warthog: 1% dead zone, 10% curves X and Y.

Slider for Throttle,

4% dead zone for rudder.

An alternative option for the Warthog stick could be an extension.

This gives more precise movements without curves.

What curve settings did you use?

I switch the FBW G-limiter switch from A-A into A-G mode, this makes the Mirage feel not as "nervous" as in the A-A mode.

Sorry for deviating from M2000 but I think it would be interesting to share opinions on using the curves as such. Not only specifically for M2000 but in general.

Initially I was thinking that they are a good idea, maybe more needed for the rudder and breaks than for controlling the pitch and roll. But after some practice I’m coming closer to the conclusion (maybe a wrong one) that flat (direct) input is better for building the muscle memory. I find using the curves creates a feeling similar to operating a mouse with acceleration enabled.

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

No curves on the stick or throttle but a small deadzone for the pedals to stop any unwanted input from my feet resting on them.
