Well mine was supposed to come May 26th-June 6th and it came Tuesday. You might get it early. Thanks for the heads up on that sdk trick. I'll have to try that if I get some time this weekend.

No prob. Here is the main thread

Scrolled down and saw this comment:

"This is amazing.. Really, It almost makes the CV1 the CV1.5 First I could barely read my dials in DCS World but on 2 I can read every damn dial on my dashboards. Really really nice find. Have a 780. Still framerate is fine with 2 in DCS."

Curious if anyone here sees the same results.

Looks like someone named Enzo did. Three hours later he posted:

I tried it this morning set at 2. It's a world of difference for me. Gauges are much more readable and the ones that aren't are easily readable by leaning forward. Before, I had to lean forward and get right up on them to read them. This is definitely a rift 1.5 upgrade. Same performance and no issues that I could see. I actually flew for about 20 mins like this with only minor motion sickness too which I haven't been able to do in the 4 days I've had my rift. Devs should really give users the option to select their own graphical settings to improve visuals instead of hiding it under sdk settings like this. This is a huge improvement for people with the hardware to run it, particularly with the gtx 1080 coming out next week.

Well, Boys...I gave this debugtool hack a go and didn't see any difference visually with the DK2. However, taking the value from 0 to 2 gave me a big judder fest in DCS. Resetting it back to 0 cleared it up.

There are a lot of other values in that tool to adjust. The HUD overlays are interesting to see.

I'll have to try that resolution trick. Thanks for the link Shogun.

I'm sold! What an awesome experience. I came from a 4k, but after a little while I didn't even find myself caring about the drop in res.

Greekbull is a pixel whore however so is still undecided. :) :)

I think someone is going to need to decode all of those settings in the tool to make it useful to those who are in the dark.

Yes, lol I'm still on the fence. It is amazing though! VR is no doubt the way to go! I just need to figure out if I'm going to sell it and wait a generation or keep with this one.

@Derek,

I experimented with the Pixels per Display Pixel Override from the Debug Tool and even with my Nv970 and DK2, a setting of 1.5 is definitely sharper - I can easily read the small font text at the bottom of the opening screen and the performance isn't really degraded. It's maybe a small improvement but pleasantly noticeable. I wonder if I should try different Antialiasing settings. Maybe this is similar to Nvidia DSR concepts.

That's awesome thanks Wags! That pixel density setting really makes a huge difference! This will eliminate the need to reopen SDK and reenter the value everytime you want to fly :D

I have three installs of DCS on my computer, Alphas, Betas, etc but I need the hard drive space. Which one would be best to keep for VR use, and will it be upgraded to the final version, or will I have to download a new final version?

We have added a pixel density selection in the VR tab. 0.5 to 2.5.

Wow - this is an example at being ahead of the curve like I have not seen before!

Lot's of other improvements coming too!

Even better! thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

I run the v1.5 stable and the v2 alpha. SSD's are plenty inexpensive these days, and DCS loads up quickly on the SSD. M.2 drives are even faster ;)

Wags, that is amazeballs. Thanks! So glad ED is supporting VR, and so quickly too! I just moved my 4k TV upstairs. My wife thanks you for the support too as she now get's to benefit by getting a new TV. :)

Thanks for the new screenshots of the 18C too, they look great. (Just a preemptive thanks for a very near future post I hope.) :music_whistling::lol::lol::lol:

It is clear that ED is fully behind the VR effort. I'm pleased they are. But I must ask about these "screenshots of the 18C"...what's this all about? Did I miss something?

I tried the DSR / supersampling during the weekend and was quick to get disappointed, as I had to turn down all graphical settings down to get half decent fps.

However, last evening I quickly tried it out with 2.0 (earlier 1.5 and early access) and didn't get any problems with FPS. I'm still skeptical if I indeed set it correctly in the 2.0 version or if it's just placebo, but the A-10C Nevada CAS surely seemed to look much more crisp...

Can anyone verify if there's a big difference in 1.5 and 2.0 with this or am I just imagining things? Might also be the scenarios I tested with (2.0: A-10C in desert vs. 1.5: Gazelle in a city)...

Yes indeed. Seems that the 2.0 NTTR works quite nicely with the pixel density settings on 2.0, even over Las Vegas. I hope and pray that this is due to some optimization in the 2.0 and when 2.5 comes out, situation will be the same with other maps too :)

Can't tell you guys how happy I feel about this :D

I saw the same thing. pixel 2.0 seems to make little difference in performance in the Huey in Nevada but gives much greater clarity to the gauges in all aircraft. The mustang was night and day in cockpit clarity but all other aircraft benefit greatly from the setting. In Steam 1.5 however there is a noticeable hit to fps. There's one spot in 1.5 on the Huey weapons training map that when you look towards the mountains for some reason fps is cut in half and then when you look towards the sea the fps comes right back. Something is clearly wrong in that map since the same behavior was apparent in 3D surround months ago and is not related to VR. I hope the map integration to engine 2.0 happens quickly as I love flying in the caucuses maps but they are just not optimized for 3D or VR at the moment.
