To add to the former:

Tried out locking the Mig-21 from different angles and ranges, with SU-27 and Mig-29 A

Even extremely close, with 3 KM, could not get all four lights to lock with continuous tone as previously. Frequency did rapidly increase however showing the RWR was working in some capacity.

If this is in line with the remodeled behavior (i remember some talk about the old solid lock out not being realistic) thats great.

I have a feeling that the 21 will look good before we get the F5. And that what matters.

I would hope so; those two are going to be matched up ad nauseum, after all. They do make for excellent counter parts, admittedly. Getting the radar working for the MiG is very important given that it's the one with actual SAR missiles. So, seeing these little updates from the team is really great.

Binaries are updated. We are investigating the lack of an external sound for some users. It's likely this is a version mismatch somewhere.

So the external sound bug is not general?

only for someone?

Uhmm.... I have this problem also.

The new binaries are working as intended, thanks Cobra.

Thanx Cobra

At least LN is trying to fix bugs.....some others don't even bother!

I have external sounds in 1.5, haven't tested radar or iff thoroughly yet.

Edit: "I have external sounds in 1.5" -I thought I had them....but yeah you basically hear wind noise & engine noise is very low....so it's broken.

Are these bugs present in 2.0 open alpha?

Or it is more stable than 1.5?

highly appreciated that you take the time to offer these hotfixes "under the counter" directly for us to use, without having to wait for the official DCS updates... i wonder what the official comment from ED is about these kind of updates from 3rd party devs.

having to deal with three different, public versions (stable, beta, alpha) must be a real pain for devs, especially when updates to those can break some feature of your product at any given time...

Ive just tested it and first of all: thank you, now im able to play again after 2 months. But:

R60M lock on radius is huge in SP, had no time testing it in MP, and it seems like i cant deactivate model enlargement.

radar seems to work nicely now, had no problem with that, but i can report that this hotfix also messes up my engine sounds in external view.

before applying it (in 1.5.3 beta) engine sounds in external view were audible, now the engine is silent in outside view(still can hear evreything else, wind, afterburner, etc).

same behavior (missing exterior sound) i already observed in 2.0 after the last official patch.

edit: the hotfix might have a negative impact on framerates, but that could just be a subjective experience, not completely sure.

edit 2: might not be related directly, but i am experiencing the non-functional Aso-2 Flares again a lot more often, i can't find a definite trigger for this, i reloaded the same mission from editor, once flares work, other times flares won't work...

The Binaries solved a lot thnx! Still testing the RWR seems like a cant get a solid priority threat yet.

Last hotfix binaries making starforce go haywire :(

anybody know how to fix it?

Will there be an official MiG-21bis patch for 1.5.3 non beta sometime "soon"? I would rather wait for it unless its really far away.

So in my preliminary testing, it seems the radar, RWR and IFF are working appropriately. Glad to see it going in the right direction!

Some bugs I've noticed (not game breaking, but wanted to let you know):

1. Can't hear the engine sounds outside the cockpit.

2. I no longer see the puff of black smoke when transitioning out of afterburner. Actually, I don't think the exhaust smoke is visible at any engine setting.

3. I have an FPS drop, but to be honest I am not sure if it is definitely due to these binary fixes. I will have to test other planes and try reverting to the old files to check.

This is on version 1.5.3.52724

EDIT:

Did a bit more testing looking for bugs to help you all out:

4. From cold start, the aileron booster switch is already turned on. Not sure if this is truly a bug or intended behavior (previously I forgot that switch frequently until I was airborne...).

5. I can confirm that problems 1 & 2 are definitely present. I tried removing the fixed binaries and placing the old ones back in and I do feel that there may have been a small 5-10 FPS drop, but this is still anecdotal and cannot completely confirm, so I leave that one up in the air for others to weigh in and test.

- My specs are i7-4720 @ 2.6, 16 GB RAM, Windows 10, GTX-980M (laptop)

Overall, still love learning to fly this bird and it is rapidly becoming my favorite module! So much more to learn on it though!

thank you Cobra for update the newest hotfix, it works very well.

but there are still some bugs that need to be fixed.

I always play in multiple server and I found that while I launched the R13M1,it is accompanied with a sound of air start. it confused me a lot.

can you check this issue pls??
